    Zafar al-Mohsin Pirzada's Literary Translations: An Analysis

    The tradition of translation in Urdu literature is not very old but Urdu translation is fast setting its evolutionary stages۔ Most of the translations that have been done so far in Urdu have been from English to Urdu. Zafar al-Mohsin Pirzada's name is particularly noteworthy in urdu translation.  Zafar al-Mohsin Pirzada's first translated literary book is by Robert Bolt, who is one of the best play writers in English. Robert wrote a play a “Man for all seasons” in 1960. Zafar al-Mohsin Pirzada translated this book in 2013 which was published from the Institute of Compilation and Translation of Punjab University. The second literary translation is derived from Brazilian writer Paolo Quilo's novel “The Alchemist”. The novel was originally written in Portuguese while Pirzada translated the novel freely from English into Urdu. The purpose of the article under consideration is to examine the literary translations of Zafar al-Mohsin Pirzada intellectually and to highlight the literary importance of these translations and to analyse the subject of these translations.&nbsp

    Urdu poetry and Eco Criticism

     Eco-criticism is relatively considered a new term in Urdu literature although a brief review of Urdu literature particularly poetry indicates that environmental problems have always been critically observed by the literary minds. Ecocriticism is a kind of literary criticism that discuss the relationship of the physical environment as a living entity with literature and not just as a background of social dialogue. It is a theoretical technique that was introduced in the 90s in the west, however, Imdad Imam Asar has been considered the earliest critic who used this technique in Urdu literature through his book “KashifulHaqaiq”. Afterwards, Maulvi Muhammad Ismail Merathi used ecological perspectives in their poetry at a time when ecological studies and organizations had yet not been established. Dr. Wazir Agha, Nasir Kazmi, Majeed Amjad, Parveen Shakir and Tariq Naeem pronounced the disturbing effects of deforestation on nature, particularly on birds. Urdu poets mourned the high industrial ambitions of humans which destroyed the environmental beauty and awarded air pollution, global warming, climate change and drought to nature and humans. Poets like Mustafa Zaidi, Zia Jalandhari and others believed that environmental destruction is not limited to the physical aspects only it also disturbed the social behavior of the humans. Some modern poets like KishwarNaheed, Yousaf Zafar and Saeed Aasi associated the decay of humanity with environmental change in their poems and warns humans against it

    AbstractFeminist sensibility viewed in circumference of Derridian philosophical acumen to deconstruction makes feminism a fluid, multiverse and multidextrous consciousness. Not that feminism is a term, theory or movement but that it is an event or occurrence and itself continues to deconstruct established feminist philosophy or praxis. According to deconstruction, feminist truth flows in multiplicity rather than being single or rigid.  Hence, deconstructionists raise a question against the sole connotation of feministic philosophy. The feminist discourse is an interdisciplinary one and shows facets of relative truth that has no end. In addition, Deconstruction discriminates the dichotomous categories of gender and sex, which suffice to femaleness but are incongruous to feminism.     Marsia is a popular poetic genre of Oriental Literature. It has a unique place and importance. It has a very strong tradition in Arabic, Persian, Punjabi, Urdu and in other Muslim languages. Marsia began in the Deccan and later spread in Northern India but, the right opportunity for this genre to flourish was found in Lucknow in eighteenth century.
