    Evaluation of natural and cultural-historical heritage of the Danube region in Serbia through cartographic presentation

    Geographic territory is the condition and framework of tourist development, the origin and destination of tourist movements. Natural resources, their attractiveness, quality and environmental preservation represent an extremely important potential for the development of tourism. The uniqueness and specificity of the natural resources of the Danube region in Serbia is an important part of the heritage, and its attractiveness is a significant component in the tourist offer of Serbia. The natural and throughout history strategic importance of the Danube has also influenced the rich and diverse cultural and historical heritage. Functionally connected natural and cultural values of historical importance represent an important tourist attraction and a prerequisite for the further development of this area. The tourist area of the Danube region in Serbia includes protected areas and individual localities of national and international importance, unique natural beauty and cultural values: Special Nature Reserve "Gornje Podunavlje", National Park "Đerdap", Bačka, Petrovaradinska, Beogradska, Smederevska, Ramska, Golubačka and Fetislam fortress, Lepenski Vir, Viminacium and numerous other specific landscape entities and localities. The geographical and historical connection of protected natural and cultural assets predetermines the use of this area for various types of tourism. This creates opportunities and activates the conditions for the development of complementary activities and affects the protection and improvement of the environment of the entire area. The planned development of tourism is defined through numerous sustainable development strategies both at the national and international levels. The Danube region is characterized by a unity of diversity that should be promoted as a spatially connected whole. The combined diverse natural and cultural-historical wealth of the Danube region in Serbia, as part of the European natural and cultural heritage, represents a great potential that needs to be further affirmed, protected and improved. The development of tourism and the study of space requires appropriate information support. The map is of great importance as a source and means of information dissemination for various analyzes and presentations of tourist content. The physiognomy of the Danube watershed area has been studied and represented on maps since ancient times. The map graphically displays and provides information about the location and characteristics of features, their distribution, spatial connections, state and dynamics of changes in space. Maps have a special cultural value in the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. They represent a document of cultural and historical heritage of importance for tourism. The map presents various contents of the tourist offer. Modern requirements are aimed at increasing the information capacity of tourist maps. In addition to the primarily created tourist maps, in the process of use, digital technology enables content transformation into multivariate presentations of geodata through the inclusion of a new type of data according to the set variables. By increasing the information capacity of digital cartographic content, the map is not a mere static graphic presentation of geographic space, but a dynamic, interactive portal for interconnection and distribution of geospatial data. Geovisualization techniques allow the user to extract and research purposefully needed information from a huge amount of data, implement graphical variants of data display in relation to different viewing angles, change indicators that enable comparison of facts, interrelationships and characteristics of geospace features

    Geography of diseases caused by biological agents from water – AP Vojvodina

    The aim of this article is to investigate the health effects of biological agents originating from the waters of the AP Vojvodina (northern Serbia). Microbiological defects in untreated drinking water were analysed for coliform microorganisms, Escherichia coli, Enterococcus (genus Streptococcus), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, aerobic mesophilic and thermotolerant microorganisms of faecal origin, and the possible effects on public health are discussed. Characteristic diseases caused by biological pathogens (acute bacillary dysentery, giardiasis, infectious jaundice, leptospirosis, tularemia, amoebic dysentery) are also shown with an illustration of the changes in disease patterns and their tendencies. These analyses can influence the improvement of population and public health status, the adaptation of prevention programs in vulnerable areas, and the reduction of waterborne disease prevalence among the local population

    Tema ovog rada obuhvata dve važne oblasti prostornog planiranja - energetiku i životnu sredinu u međusobnom uslovljavanju i međuzavisnostima. S tim u vezi, u poslednje vreme sprovode se ključne reforme i fundamentalne promene u strategijama i planovima, sa ciljem postizanja veće energetske bezbednosti sa jedne strane i tranzicije nisko-ugljenične energije sa druge strane. Srpska ekonomija se širi i traži povećanje potrošnje energije. Ova zemlja je oskudna u energetskim resursima i orijentisana ka uvozu fosilnih goriva koja nisu obnovljiva (visoko-ugljenična sirova nafta i prirodni gas). Zato je neophodna postepena supstitucija izvore koji nisu obnovljivi sa nisko-ugljeničnim obnovljivim izvorima energije kao što su solarna, eolska, geotermalna, energija biomase i hidroenergija. Jedan od strateških ciljeva i međunarodnih obaveza Srbije je dekarbonizacija energije u cilju smanjenja emisije štetnih gasova koji utiču na globalno klimatsko zagrevanje. Geografske implikacije energetske tranzicije u Srbiji su nedovoljno istraženo, ali veoma važno polje za integrisano planiranje održive proizvodnje energije i razvoja životne sredine na duži rok.     Održivi razvoj kao cilj – još jedan promašaj planiranja?

    Prostorno planiranje je tokom približno 100 godina postojanja (prvi „pravi“ regionalni prostorni plan je urađen 1923. godine u Engleskoj) imalo više „neuspelih“ eksperimenata. Autori sa Zapada u pomenute eksperimente, pored centralističkog državnog planiranja u SSSR-u, kineskih eksperimenata sa tržištem, samoupravnog planiranja u SFRJ, svrstavaju i planiranje tokom i posle Velike depresije na Zapadu, Maršalov plan, ali i planiranje u tzv. državi socijalnog blagostanja. Pojavivši se u doba punog trijumfa neoliberalnog koncepta uređenja sveta, održivi razvoj je kao dogma nametnut odozgo i praktično je oktroisan politički. Shodno tome, ma koliko bio opravdan, pod mamuzom nužde, inagurisan je kao osnovni cilj prostornog planiranja, već tridesetak godina unazad. Od tada se planeri u svetu, kao i na Balkanu, svojski trude da opšte principe održivosti prevedu u operativne prostorne ciljeve, na osnovu kojih bi uslovi lokacije bili determinisani, a odluka o građevinskoj dozvoli uslovljena „održivošću“ objekta. U praksi planiranja u Srbiji sveprisutna održivost je u najvećoj mogućoj meri ostala na nivou deklarativnosti, prebačena u misije i vizije, dok planeri, impresionirani projektovanjem, traže spas u četvrtoj tehnološkoj revoluciji koja će, pored ostalog, dati odgovor na nagomilane socijalne probleme u prostoru koje održivi razvoj još uvek uspešno zaobilazi. Rad analizira iskustva do kojih smo došli tokom 30 godina planiranja održivog razvoja i sumira ocenu koliko smo u tom pogledu bili uspešni.Urednici: Dejan Filipović, Velimir Šećerov, Dejan S.     Pregled i zaštita važnijih bigrenih akumulacija na teritoriji Srbije

    Bigrene akumulacije su veoma zastupljene u Srbiji, i to najviše u okviru Dinarskog karsta, kao i Karpato-balkanida. Kako se bigar uglavnom taloži na vodopadima, aktivne bigrene akumulacije često imaju izuzetnu estetsku vrednost i značajan turistički potencijal. Dobar deo aktivnih, ali i fosilnih bigrenih akumulacija ima status spomenika prirode i nalaze se pod određenim režimom zaštite. Čak je i prvi zaštićeni spomenik prirode u bivšoj Jugoslaviji slap Ripaljka, sa naslagama bigra, zaštićen davne 1949. godine. Ovi režimi zaštite podrazumevaju zabranu korišćenja prirodnih resursa. Nepoštovanje ovih zakona, odnosno eksploatacija bigra uočena je na nekoliko lokaliteta u Srbiji prilikom terenskih istraživanja. U ovom radu dat je pregled važnijih zaštićenih bigrenih akumulacija na teritoriji Srbije, uz poseban osvrt na one gde je uočeno pomenuto nepoštovanje zakona. Takođe, dati su i predlozi kako poboljšati svest stanovništva o važnosti zaštite prirodnih dobara i poštovanja zakonskih regulativa

    Evaluation and valorization of geoheritage of the Mount Rogozna area

    Due to its unique geology, relief, and extensive hydrologic network, Mount Rogozna has been chosen as a case study for the quantification of geodiversity. The study consists of two interconnected parts. The first part demonstrates the application of the geodiversity evaluation method using the geodiversity index, whereas the second part deals with the evaluation of the geoheritage objects of the studied area. The methodology for calculating geodiversity index that was applied in this research was modified due to the size of the studied area. The geodiversity index is calculated based on the number of abiotic elements and the roughness of the relief within the studied area. Mount Rogozna, with an area of 818.26 km2, has been studied and processed using a network of spatial polygons of 500 × 500 m and using different maps. The second part of the research deals with the evaluation of geoheritage objects, applying the Geosite Assessment Model. The obtained results demonstrate that geoheritage objects are not always located in places with high values of the geodiversity index. This is proven by the fact that 5 out of 7 geoheritage sites are located in areas with low geodiversity values. The obtained qualitative and quantitative data with maps showing the distribution of geodiversity can serve as a starting point for the development of a planning and management strategy, but also as the example of good practice for possible further application in the quantification of geodiversity in this part of Serbia, and beyond its borders as well

    Thermal comfort in Belgrade, Serbia: UTCI-based seasonal and annual analysis for the period 1991-2020

    The main goal of this research is to examine thermal comfort in the central area of Belgrade (Serbia), over a period of 30 years (1991-2020). The Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) was used as a measure for evaluating outdoor thermal comfort (OTC). The obtained results were considered separately for each season, as well as at the annual level. The analysis was carried out on the basis of an extensive database, which included hourly values (7h, 14h, 21h CET) of meteorological parameters, as well as their average daily, minimum, and maximum values. The obtained values of UTCIs show a positive growth trend during all four seasons. A significant increase in the annual values of UTCIs was also recorded. Four of five years with the highest average UTCIs were recorded in the last decade of the survey, more precisely in the period 2015-2020. The years that stand out for the frequency of record spring, autumn and winter UTCIs values are 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. On an annual level, minimum UTCI value has rising trend of 0.099°C/year, while at maximum UTCI value, that trend is 0.081°C/yea

    Climatic regionalization of Montenegro by applying different methods of cluster analysis

    To carry out an "objective" regionalization of the climate of Montenegro for the period 1961-2020, this paper used cluster analysis, which is a multivariate technique that classifies a sample of subjects (objects) based on a set of variables into a single number. Based on the results (score), several groups were separated, and similar classes (groups) were grouped into the same cluster. Annual data for mean temperature and total precipitation from 18 meteorological stations were utilized. Temperature and precipitation cluster regions were separated using three different hierarchical agglomerative methods (Unweighted Pair Group Method with Arithmetic Mean (UPGMA), Single linkage, and Ward's) and one non-hierarchical method (K-means). The Euclidean distance was used as a measure of distance for hierarchical methods, and the results were represented graphically in the form of dendrograms and thematic maps. The obtained results indicate that the singled-out temperature and precipitation cluster regions largely coincide with the established climate types in Montenegro. The cluster results further showed that the distribution of meteorological stations clearly reflects the largest part of the climatic diversity of Montenegro and indicates the spatial dimension of temperature and precipitation

    Assessment of the Attractiveness of Natural Resources and Landscapes of the Kopaonik National Park (Serbia): Framework and Importance for Tourism Development

    This research presents a methodological framework for assessing the attractiveness of natural resources and landscapes and their importance for tourism development. The research is conducted in the area of Kopaonik Mountain in Serbia, which is partly, due to its natural values, declared a natural heritage of exceptional importance Protection Category I, i.e. the National Park. The goal of this paper is to identify and assess the tourist attractiveness of the natural resources (relief, hydrological and climatological characteristics, and vegetation) and landscapes in the National Park (NP) Kopaonik area. There are two independent methods used to assess the tourist attractiveness of natural resources and landscapes in this study. The first method is based on numerical and statistical analysis and quantitatively expresses the attractiveness of natural resources/elements (relief, climate, hydrology and vegetation) separately and all together, indicating the overall attractiveness of natural resources for tourism development. The second method envisages 8 criteria according to which natural landscapes are scored on a scale from 0 to 3. Based on a clearly defined model for assessing the attractiveness of natural resources and landscapes, we conclude that the area of Kopaonik National Park has a high level of tourist attractiveness

    Конфлиkтност између заштите природе и развоја туризма у Спомениkу природе „Шума Кошутњаk“

    The subject of study is the conflict between nature preservation and tourism in SP ‘Suma Kosutnjak’ and our task is to recognize the source of the conflict, defining its causation along with possible consequences. The consequences are attributed to the excessive impact tourists have on natural treasure of the protected area. This study additionally considers the immense touristic potential, under a caveat to reduce the influenceof tourism on the environment as much as possible. The goal of this study is to suggest which measures can be used to lessen the conflict and recognize which locations have the highest potential for environmental protection and tourism development. The study was made using analysis, synthesis, comparative and AHP methods. The analysed criteria for nature preservation and development of tourism are land use, distance from the roads and forest trails. It was necessary to analyse distance from settlements for nature preservation, and analyse the terrain slope for tourism development. The listed criteria are marked from 1 to 5 based on their importance for environmental protection and tourism. Research results were shown in tables, graphs and cartograms (using GIS tool).Предмет истраживања су конфликти између очувања и заштите природе и развоја туризма на подручју Споменика природе „Шума Kошутњак“, дефинисање узрока који доводе до њих, као и насталих последица. Последице се односе на прекомеран утицај туриста на природне вредности овог заштићеног подручја. Такође, у раду су сагледане могућности за коришћење што већег туристичког потенцијала, али са акцентом на минимални утицај на животну средину. Циљ истраживања је предложити мере за смањење конфликата и сагледати локације са највећим потенцијалом за развој туризма и са највећим потенцијалом за заштиту природе. У раду су, коришћени методи анализе и синтезе, компаративни метод и АХП метод. Анализирани критеријуми за заштиту природе и за развој туризма су намена земљишта, удаљеност од саобраћајница и удаљеност од шумских стаза, док је за анализу заштите природе било неопходно анализирати и удаљеност од насеља, а за развој туризма нагиб терена. Наведени критеријуми су оцењени од 1 до 5 на основу њихове важности за заштиту природе и за туризам. Употребом ГИС алата резултати истраживања су табеларно и картографски приказани
