Relations between surface and underground karst forms inferred from terrestrial laser scanning
This paper details methods that contribute towards solving the problem of the spatial relations between surface and underground karst morphology - relationships that are often unclear. The karst landforms studied in this context are karst valleys, through-caves and natural bridges. Two study sites are situated in the Carpatho-Balkan Mountains of eastern Serbia: the dry valley of the Radovanska Reka River on Mt Kučaj (together with the Pećura through-cave) and the Zamna Cave in the wider area of the Danube Gorge. The caves and the closest adjoining parts of the valleys were measured in detail using the terrestrial laser scanning method. The data obtained showed that some previous measurements at these locations, performed with classical traditional instruments, are insufficiently accurate and may lead to wrong conclusions
Geochemical map 1:1.000.000 of western and southern part of Serbia with the ecological status
Geochemical map of western and souther part of Serbia covers an area of about 30 000 km2 and also basins of rivers Ibar, Western Morava, Kolubara, Drina and Grand Morava. Representative samples from relevant profiles were collected according to WEGS (Western European Geochemical association). Samples were collected at the A-horizon at a depth of 15-20 cm from the ground surface; OB-overbank sediments at the depth of 80-100 cm and S-modern stream sediment. Geochemical mapping of lithological members was performed at 66 locations. The contents of natural radionuclides238 U,232 Th and40 K were analyzed. The results are shown on maps at a scale of 1: 1000000. Preserved geochemical record in the coastal profile of river flows will contribute to the assessment of anthropogenic impacts in the environment of rural settlements, particularly in the identification of geopathogenic zones of influence of natural radionuclides on human health. Uticaj primene kontekstualnog pristupa u nastavi organske hemije na unapređivanje konceptualnog razumevanja i primenu znanja učenika prirodno-matematičkog smera gimnazije
Since high school students tend to perceive organic chemistry as an subject that is difficult to understand, the aim of the research was to examine whether a contextual approach to teaching can improve conceptual understanding and application of knowledge from this chemistry subdiscipline among students of a high school of science and mathematics. For this purpose, a teaching experiment with parallel groups was carried out as part of instruction on the topic of Alcohols. The sample consisted of 163 third grade students at a high school of science and mathematics, with 82 students in the control group and 81 in the experimental group. The initial test, comprising problems similar to those in the textbook, showed that students in both groups had a similar level of prior knowledge about alcohols. However, in the final test, where students were expected to apply their newly acquired knowledge about alcohols to solving everyday problems and to provide a detailed explanation of the problem-solving process, students in the experimental group achieved a significantly higher overall percentage of correct responses and a significantly higher number of correct responses to most problems in the test relative to students in the control group. Since the results of the experiment indicate that a contextual approach to teaching fosters conceptual understanding and application of knowledge in the field of organic chemistry, this research could contribute to improving organic chemistry teaching in high schools of science and mathematics.Budući da srednjoškolci organsku hemiju doživljavaju kao apstraktan predmet čije je gradivo teško za razumevanje, cilj ovog istraživanja bio je da se utvrdi da li kontekstualni pristup nastavi može da unapredi konceptualno razumevanje i primenu znanja iz ove oblasti hemije kod učenika gimnazije prirodno-matematičkog smera. Posledično, u okviru obrade nastavne teme Alkoholi, sproveden je pedagoški eksperiment sa paralelnim grupama. Uzorak su činila 163 učenika trećeg razreda gimnazije prirodno-matematičkog smera (82 učenika u kontrolnoj i 81 učenik u eksperimentalnoj grupi). Na inicijalnom testu koji je sadržao zadatke nalik onima u udžbeniku ustanovljeno je da dve grupe imaju relativno ujednačeni nivo prethodno stečenih znanja o alkoholima. Međutim, na završnom testu gde je novostečena znanja o alkoholima trebalo primeniti u rešavanju problema iz svakodnevnog života i detaljno objasniti postupak rešavanja, učenici iz eksperimentalne grupe ostvarili su statistički značajno veći ukupan procenat tačnih odgovora i statistički značajno veći broj tačnih odgovora na većini zadataka iz ovog testa u odnosu na učenike iz kontrolne grupe. S obzirom na to da rezultati eksperimenta pokazuju da kontekstualni pristup nastavi podstiče konceptualno razumevanje i primenu znanja iz organske hemije, ovo istraživanje može da doprinese unapređivanju nastave organske hemije u gimnaziji prirodno-matematičkog smera
Application of GIS in assessing natural conditions for the development of raspberry growing at the territory of the municipality of Štrpce
The paper presents the analysis of natural conditions for the development
of the agricultural branch – raspberry growing in the municipality of Štrpce. The following
analyses were carried out using GIS technology: the analysis of pedological cover, terrain
aspect and slope, hypsometric conditions, precipitation and land use methods. The
paper also presents the materials and methods for obtaining the final evaluation of the
conditions and assessing the natural characteristics for the territory of Štrpce. By cabinet
work, elimination method, and valorisation method through software packages, the
analysis and interpretation of natural characteristics was carried out on all maps individually.
In the geographic information systems, one of the most important materials
in research is the database, i.e. its availability and scope. The final version of the work is
formed by processing all natural conditions through GIS. The final result of the work and
research is a synthetic map of the benefits for raspberry growing in the area of Štrpce,
with pronounced areas suitable for the development of raspberry growing. The main reason
for determining these locations is the uncertain economic stability and insufficiently
informed local population due to the unfavourable political situation in the Autonomous
Province of Kosovo and Metohija
Determinacija potencijala obnovljivih izvora energije na teritoriji opštine Štrpce
Rad prikazuje mogućnosti korišćenja obnovljivih izvora energije na teritoriji opštine Štrpce. Opština Štrpce predstavlja jednu od najjužnijih opština na teritoriji Srbije. Zaštita životne sredine i koncept održivog razvoja podrazmevaju što manju degradaciju okoline, odnosno forsiranje energije koja bi manje štetila čovečanstvu. U ovom slučaju, obnovljivi izvori energije predstavljaju vid čiste energije koja ne emituje ugljen-dioksid, koji se smartra najvećim krivcem povećanja globalne temperature na Zemlji. Solarna energija, potencijali biomase i drugi vidovi alternativne energije trebalo bi da predstavljaju sadašnjost i budućnost na Zemlji. U radu se, pomoću geografskih informacionih sistema (GIS), identifikuju pogodne lokacije za primenu solarne energije i biomase u opštini Štrpce, čime bi se poboljšala energetska efikasnost i unapredila zaštita životne sredine na lokalnom nivou.Urednici: Miroljub Milinčić, Miško Milanović, Miljan Ilić, Vojislav Deđansk
Mogućnost korišćenja solarne energije i energije biomase na teritoriji grada Vršca
Obnovljivi izvori energije, nekada trajni energetski izvori, predstavljaju
energetske resurse koji se koriste za proizvodnju električne ili toplotne energije, a čije
rezerve se konstantno ili ciklično obnavljaju. Kako OIE predstavljaju neiscrpan prirodan
vid energije koja se nalazi svuda oko nas, pretpostavlja se da će u budućnosti sve veći
procenat ukupne proizvedene energije dolaziti upravo iz obnovljivih izvora. Radom je
analizirana mogućnost korišćenja solarne energije i energije biomase, koje u ovoj oblasti
pored energije vetra, imaju najveći potencijal na teritoriji Grada Vršca. Korišćenjem GIS
softvera GeoMedia Professional 2016 (Hexagon Geospatial) i softvera Idrisi Selva, na osnovu
definisanih kriterijuma, određene su najpovoljnije lokacije za postavljanje solarnih panela,
kao i za uzgajanje brzorastuće biljke paulovnije koja se pokazala kao veoma dobar energent
u mnogim zemljama sveta i Evrope, a u poslednje vreme dobija na važnosti i u Republici
Srbiji. Dobijeni rezultati mogu biti značajni za unapređenje postojećeg nivoa korišćenja OIE
u Gradu Vršcu koji je ocenjen kao nedovoljan, ali i u drugim delovima Republike Srbije, kao

Climate Changes: Science and the Holy Bible Texts
In this paper, we investigated the connection between the Holy Bible texts and climate changes. Also, for the texts from Bible (Old Testament) about time, space, energy, climate and climate changes, a scientific interpretation is obtained. By the today's prognosis scientists share the opinion that the climate changes may destroy the civilization on Earth. In the texts of Bible, we try to find a connection between the Holy text and climate changes. For example, big flood in the Noah time can indicate one strong climate change's influence. Interpretation of Bible will always have an enormous importance for past, present and future science
The analysis of land use changes in the impact zone of the surface mining of lignite using methods of remote sensing and GIS (settlement Veliki Crljeni, Serbia)
This paper presents the application of methods of remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) in the analysis of land use changes by surface mining operations of lignite in the period of 4 years. The analysed area covers the settlements Veliki Crljeni in an impact zone of the Branch Mine basin "Kolubara", which covers the exploitation area of the Kolubara coal basin in the Republic of Serbia. Pećina na reci Zamni u svetlu novih morfogenetskih istraživanja
The article deals with the morphogenesis of the through cave Pećina na Reci Zamni (meaning in Serbian: Cave on the Zamna River; in further text: the Zamna Cave). The Zamna Cave was the subject of several geomorphological studies, mostly aimed at explaining the cave genesis through the evolutionary concept from through caves to natural bridges. In order to get better insight into the morphogenesis of this cave, modern geomorphometrical methods were applied. The cave and the surface topography above it were scanned in high resolution using the instrument Leica Nova MS50, applying the method of terrestrial laser scanning (TLS). Data processing produced the model for the analysis of the relation between surface and underground forms of karst relief. The results point to the conclusion that the Zamna Cave is an example showing that in the process of natural bridges formation by cave roof collapse, it is not necessary that there is a dry valley above the cave, as previously thought.Pećina na reci Zamni bila je do sada predmet više istraživanja. Neka od njih imala su za cilj objašnjenje geneze pećine u svetlu evolucije tunelskih pećina ka prerastima. U cilju boljeg razumevanja geneze ove pećine primenjene su savremene morfometrijske tehnike. Pećina i površina iznad nje snimljeni su u visokoj rezoluciji uređajem Leica Nova MS50, postupkom terestričkog laserskog skeniranja (TLS). Obradom prikupljenih podataka dobijen je model na kome je moguće analizirati odnos površinskih i podzemnih kraških oblika reljefa. Rezultati analize navode na zaključak da je pećina na reci Zamni primer koji ukazuje na to da prilikom formiranja prerasti urušavanjem tavanica pećina nije pravilo da se neposredno iznad pruža suva dolina
Prostorno-demografski disbalansi kao izazov populacionim politikama
The significance of the regional disproportions at the territory of Serbia, when it comes to demographic resources, imposes in front of the social community a task for public policy measures to be more efficient and more precisely addressed towards the local communities where the limit of their possible acting has not been perturbated yet. Thus, defining of coherent public policies requires good research of the demographic processes and problems on all levels and defining developmental solutions in accordance with them. Dimensioning of demographic potentials is one of the challenges and priorities of spatial planning as well, as a controlling instrument that has been gaining significance in modern conditions. Foreign experience in this field, i.e. the system of spatial planning in European countries, with the special attention paid to the ways of solving problems connected to demographic processes and appearances, is undoubtedly instructive for the domestic practice and the establishment of public policies on state and lower regional levels. Given the fact that the inequality in development is caused, above all, by the expressive metroplization and polarization of the Serbian territory, in modern conditions it is considered that the application of the polycentric development model could help avoiding further excessive economic and demographic concentration. It includes economic competitiveness and social equality (sustainable development) as pre-requisites for the diminishing of local disparities to the acceptable minimum. In that sense, it is considered that a group of middle sized towns represents a pivot in establishing homogeneous national urban system which would lead to the increase in the degree of settlement network consistency. It is necessary that the endeavour to decentralize Serbia be elaborated with concrete measures and instruments that would route further state development, meaning affirmation of the middle sized towns.Naglašenost regionalnih disproporcija u prostoru Srbije, kada su u pitanju demografski resursi, pred društvenu zajednicu postavlja zadatak da mere javnih politika budu što efikasnije i preciznije usmerene ka lokalnim zajednicama gde prag njihovog mogućeg delovanja još uvek nije narušen. Zato definisanje koherentnih javnih politika nužno zahteva dobru istraženost demografskih procesa i problema na svim nivoima i definisanje razvojnih rešenja u skladu s njima. Dimenzioniranje demografskih potencijala jedan je od izazova i prioriteta i prostornog planiranja, kao upravljačkog instrumenata koji u savremenim uslovima dobija na značaju. Inostrana iskustva iz ove oblasti, odnosno sistem prostornog planiranja u evropskim državama, s posebnim osvrtom na načine rešavanja problema vezanih za demografske procese i pojave, su neosporno instruktivni za domaću praksu iustanovljenje javnih politika na državnom i nižim regionalnim nivoima. S obzirom na to da je neravnomernostu razvoju uzrokovana, pre svega, izrazitom metropolizacijom i polarizacijom prostora Srbije, u savremenim uslovima smatra se da bi primena policentričnog modela razvoja pomogla da se izbegne dalja prekomerna ekonomska i demografska koncentracija, odnosno omogući ekonomska konkurentnost i socijalna jednakost (održivi razvoj), kao preduslovi za svođenje regionalnih dispariteta na prihvatljiv minimum. U tom smislu, smatra se da grupa gradova srednje veličine predstavlja stožer uspostavljanju homogenog nacionalnog urbanog sistema koji bi vodio povećanju stepena konzistentnosti naseljske mreže. Neophodno je da zalaganje za decentralizaciju Srbije bude razrađeno konkretnim merama i instrumentima koji će usmeravati dalji tokrazvoja države, a koji podrazumeva afirmaciju gradova srednje veličine
