    Get PDF
This paper describes the frequency analysis of absolute maximum air temperatures, using annual maximum series (AMS) in the period 1961–2010 from 40 climatological stations in Serbia with maximum likelihood estimation of distribution parameters. For the goodness of fit testing of General Extreme Value (GEV), Normal, Log-Normal, Pearson 3 (three parameters), and Log-Pearson 3 distribution, three different tests were used (Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Anderson-Darling, chi-square). Based on the results of these tests (best average rank of certain distribution), the appropriate distribution is selected. GEV distribution proved to be the most appropriate one in most cases. The probability of exceedance of absolute maximum air temperatures on 1%, 0.5%, 0.2%, and 0.1% levels are calculated. A spatial analysis of the observed and modeled values of absolute maximum air temperatures in Serbia is given. The absolute maximum air temperature of 44.9 °C was recorded at Smederevska Palanka station, and the lowest value of maximum air temperature 35.8 °C was recorded at Zlatibor station, one of the stations with the highest altitude. The modeled absolute maximum air temperatures are the highest at Zaječar station with 44.5 °C, 45.6 °C, 47.0 °C, and 48.0 °C and the lowest values are calculated for Sjenica station with 35.5 °C, 35.8 °C, 36.1 °C, and 36.2 °C for the return periods of 100, 200, 500, and 1000 years, respectively. Our findings indicate the possible occurrence of much higher absolute maximum air temperatures in the future than the ones recorded on almost all of the analyzed stations

    Get PDF
Geographic territory is the condition and framework of tourist development, the origin and destination of tourist movements. Natural resources, their attractiveness, quality and environmental preservation represent an extremely important potential for the development of tourism. The uniqueness and specificity of the natural resources of the Danube region in Serbia is an important part of the heritage, and its attractiveness is a significant component in the tourist offer of Serbia. The natural and throughout history strategic importance of the Danube has also influenced the rich and diverse cultural and historical heritage. Functionally connected natural and cultural values of historical importance represent an important tourist attraction and a prerequisite for the further development of this area. The tourist area of the Danube region in Serbia includes protected areas and individual localities of national and international importance, unique natural beauty and cultural values: Special Nature Reserve "Gornje Podunavlje", National Park "Đerdap", Bačka, Petrovaradinska, Beogradska, Smederevska, Ramska, Golubačka and Fetislam fortress, Lepenski Vir, Viminacium and numerous other specific landscape entities and localities. The geographical and historical connection of protected natural and cultural assets predetermines the use of this area for various types of tourism. This creates opportunities and activates the conditions for the development of complementary activities and affects the protection and improvement of the environment of the entire area. The planned development of tourism is defined through numerous sustainable development strategies both at the national and international levels. The Danube region is characterized by a unity of diversity that should be promoted as a spatially connected whole. The combined diverse natural and cultural-historical wealth of the Danube region in Serbia, as part of the European natural and cultural heritage, represents a great potential that needs to be further affirmed, protected and improved. The development of tourism and the study of space requires appropriate information support. The map is of great importance as a source and means of information dissemination for various analyzes and presentations of tourist content. The physiognomy of the Danube watershed area has been studied and represented on maps since ancient times. The map graphically displays and provides information about the location and characteristics of features, their distribution, spatial connections, state and dynamics of changes in space. Maps have a special cultural value in the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. They represent a document of cultural and historical heritage of importance for tourism. The map presents various contents of the tourist offer. Modern requirements are aimed at increasing the information capacity of tourist maps. In addition to the primarily created tourist maps, in the process of use, digital technology enables content transformation into multivariate presentations of geodata through the inclusion of a new type of data according to the set variables. By increasing the information capacity of digital cartographic content, the map is not a mere static graphic presentation of geographic space, but a dynamic, interactive portal for interconnection and distribution of geospatial data. Geovisualization techniques allow the user to extract and research purposefully needed information from a huge amount of data, implement graphical variants of data display in relation to different viewing angles, change indicators that enable comparison of facts, interrelationships and characteristics of geospace features

The green economy is becoming a norm in the business operations of companies of various economic activities, and has also found its application in tourism and hospitality. In efforts to make the green economy more ecologically responsible, various types of tourism were first developed, which support such a concept, but also types of accommodation facilities, branches of traffic and means of transport, and agricultural products which follow the concept of sustainable development. The mentioned concept strives for the sustainability of nature and development that positively affects society and the environment, and ecotourism certainly has a decisive influence in this. The tourism offer of Vojvodina salaš farms and their revitalization can have multiple positive effects, not only for households (owners of farms), but also for local communities, as well as the entire rural area. The main goal of the paper is to determine, on the basis of a survey, whether traditional combined with modern trends in tourist movements can be a strong motivating factor for attracting tourists to Vojvodina salaš farms. The focus is on determining the impact and role of ecotourism and the green economy by researching salaš farms which, according to various criteria (accommodation capacity, offer of organic agricultural products, ecotourism...), are declared as green, and indicates which among them have significant potential. The results can serve as a useful guideline for managers of the tourism and hospitality industry to conceive or innovate such an offer and successfully market it on the domestic and international tourism market.Urednici: Larisa Jovanović, Vadim Ermakov, Suzana Balaba

    Get PDF
- ITI) i Održivi urbani razvoj (eng. - SUD). Ovi instrumenti urbanog i teritorijalnog razvoja podstiču veće učešće lokalnih aktera u sprovođenju održivog razvoja i promovišu promenu u kulturi planiranja ka inkluzivnim, kolaborativnim praksama, i kao efekat proizvode kvalitetnija rešenja.Urednici: Dejan Filipović, Velimir Šećerov, Dejan S. Uporedna analiza segmenta zaštite životne sredine u prostornim planovima

    Get PDF
Urednici: Dejan Filipović, Velimir Šećerov, Dejan S. Uloga digitalnog prostora i savremene tehnologije u promociji kulturnog identiteta grada u kriznim situacijama

    Get PDF
Strategije u kulturi u kriznim situacijama Filozofskog fakulteta u Beogradu.Urednici: Dejan Filipović, Velimir Šećerov, Dejan S. Đorđevi

Assessment of geosites as a basis for geotourism development: A case study of the Toplica District, Serbia

    No full text
Toplica district represents an area in Southern Serbia with significant forms of geoheritage that have not been valorized yet. The aim of this pioneering study is to systematically analyze and evaluate all manifestations of the geodiversity in the Toplica district. Based on the geological importance, degree of attractiveness, and size, a total of six geosites were selected. The main goal of the study is to emphasize the insufficient utilization of huge geotourism potentials of the Toplica district and to determine the current geotourism development and geotourism potential of evaluated geosites. The geotourism suitability of each geosite is defined through comparative analysis. The Geosite Assessment Model (GAM) is used to assess the current state of the various elements of geodiversity in the study area. Positioning within the GAM matrix is defined by the values of the investigated parameters. Visualization of the distribution of the GAM indicators is an innovative approach for the interpretation of the obtained results. As a projection of the geotourism potential, the study presents the results of the traffic accessibility of geosites using the Geographic Information System (GIS)-based isochronous method. GIS and Digital Terrain Models are used in the visualization of the research area. The results of GAM apostrophize the current tourist value of Devil’s City, while the isochron analysis of GIS highlights the great geotourism potential of publicly little-known and touristically unaffirmed geosites. The results represent a basis that can support the affirmation of geotourism, the improvement of existing, and the development of new geotourism strategies in the Toplica district

Urban Theories in a Post-socialist Context

    Get PDF
Since the collapse of the socialist system, cities in Central Eastern European countries have undergone dynamic transformation processes. Those processes have attracted noteworthy scientific attention, particularly in local academic circles, causing revived interest in urban studies in the region. However, the academic interest in former socialist cities has become the centre of discussion it-self. This interest is mostly related to the validity of theories and methodologies born in the West to the study of former socialist cities. On one side, there is a cohort of academics who have uncritically embraced Western urban knowledge, a priori assuming its universal applicability. This research position is commonly related to the developmental and convergence theories, which take “correction” of the post-socialist cities and their eventual assimilation to the Western city as their model. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the post-colonial approach has developed as a stand which criticizes the alleged scientific hegemonism of the West and insists on a more cosmopolitan urban science that would take into ac-count the experiences of cities worldwide. Simultaneously, this approach advocates for considering urban particularities and complexities, and thus this re-search treats post-socialist cities as distinctive, in many instances, from the cities of the West, as well as from each other. However, as both contemporary academic stands have their limits and flaws, the debate on adequate research of former socialist cities as well as on the future positions of urban science in general, is far from conclusive
