The discriminant statistic based on MPE-MWPE relationship and non-uniform embedding
The slope fitting line between MPE (multi-scale permutation entropy) and MWPE (multi-scale weighted permutation entropy) is recently proposed as a discriminant statistic for testing the nonlinearity of a time series. The main objective of this paper is to demonstrate that the selection of the optimal parameters of the non-uniform embedding is essential for the proposed discriminant statistic. In particular, the presented case studies indicate that the modified discriminant statistic based on non-uniform embedding can detect differences between such time series which remain indistinguishable if the original approach is used

Measurement of natural frequency and mechanical damping of thin brass diaphragm by pulsed laser generated vibrations
Damped harmonic oscillator model based fitting of nanosecond pulsed laser induced amplitude variations of clamped vibrating circular plate is used to estimate the mechanical damping and natural frequency of the sample in current work. Laser Pulses of 50 mJ energy, 20 ns duration, and focused at a spot of 4 mm diameter at the center of the circular thin brass sheet of 100 µm thickness is used to generate vibrations in the target. Quadrature Michelson interferometer (QMI) with CW laser focused on the opposite side of the target surface is used to measure the amplitude of vibrations. Variations of fringe frequencies are identified in the frequency domain. Finite element based numerical modal analyses are also performed in ANSYS Workbench for the verification of experimental results for the same geometry and materials. Experimental frequencies of vibrations are found to match nearly 2 percent of FEM modes. Moreover, Elastic parameters are also found using the first two mode frequencies and a reasonable agreement is observed while comparing with the elastic parameter data of brass. Current work in itself is a unique attempt of getting mechanical parameters for the determination of elastic parameters in a single laser pulse impulse excited measurement for thin clamped targets
Experimental study on dynamic bending rigidity of aluminium cable steel reinforced
The dynamic bending rigidity of aluminium cable steel reinforced (ACSR) is a key parameter for analyzing the breeze vibration, galloping and de-icing vibration response of overhead transmission lines. In this paper, the calculation formula of the dynamic bending rigidity under axial force is derived based on the theory of Bernoulli-Euler beam. The dynamic response of one typical ACSR with different spans and different axial forces are studied by white-noise excitation and hammer excitation. The variation rules of dynamic bending rigidity of ACSR are presented. The comparison between the experimental results of the static and dynamic bending rigidity shows that the dynamic bending rigidity of the ACSR is much larger than the static bending rigidity
Study of torque pulsation control of switched reluctance motor by auto-disturbance rejection control
The switched reluctance motor drives the rotor based on the principle of minimum reluctance, which is structurally simpler, but the doubly salient structure of the stator and rotor leads to severe torque pulsation. This paper briefly introduces the switched reluctance motor and the auto-disturbance rejection controller for suppressing the torque pulsation of the switched reluctance motor. Then, the auto-disturbance rejection controller was simulated in the MATLAB software, and it was compared with the direct torque control strategy. The results showed that the switched reluctance motor installed with the self-reluctance controller reached the set rotational speed faster, with a smoother torque change; when the set speed changed abruptly, it was adjusted to the new rotational speed faster, with a smooth and stable torque change; when the load torque changed abruptly, it was adjusted to the new torque smoother and faster, and the adjustment to the rotational speed was also faster
Multi-axis vibration test technology of satellite based on vector-fixture’s design and applications
Aiming at the problems that the three-direction uniaxial sequential vibration test cannot effectively simulate the real launch environment of the satellite, and the high cost of the multi-axis shaker and the limitation of engineering application, the multi-axis vibration test scheme based on vector-fixture is proposed. Taking the vibration magnitude of uniaxial vibration test on the satellite mounting surface as equivalent reference, the appropriate vector direction is determined to carry out vector-fixture design. By analyzing the multi-axial vibration test data of the real structure of a satellite, it can be seen that: The “satellite-fixture” mounting surface can reach the set vibration magnitude at low frequencies, and undertest occurs at high frequency due to structural resonance and other factors; By optimizing the control strategy, the degree of over-test and under-test in the three directions can be balanced. According to the mission characteristics and development cycle of micro-nano satellites, this paper provides an efficient vibration test scheme
Modal analysis of a milling dynamometer considered as 1DOF system
A force transducer-based plate dynamometer for milling force measurements is presented in this paper. The main components of the designed dynamometer were described, and experimental modal analysis was carried out while considering the dynamometer as a 1DOF system. The values of the main components of the 1DOF systems such as mass, damping coefficient, and equivalent stiffness were identified, and the natural frequency for rings and dynamometer was calculated. The calculated natural frequencies of components were found in reacceptance FRF, obtained by modal analysis done with an impact hammer. A MATLAB simulation was done to validate the system using the transfer function based on the modal test
On the issue of the motion of balls in a double pendulum
The paper considers a model of a vertical double pendulum with one suspension centre moving in a vertical plane. For the proposed system of pendulums, differential equations of motion and conditions for the collision of balls are obtained. When modelling the movement of pendulums, the central impact of the balls was considered for various variants of the movement of the suspension point: the suspension point oscillates in the vertical direction; the suspension point makes rotational movements in the vertical plane. In this case, various conditions of the central impact between the balls were considered: absolutely inelastic impact; absolutely elastic impact; impact with the transformation of impact energy (elastic impact). Comparison of the results of the numerical simulation and the results of experiments with the Kapitza pendulum in published sources confirmed the possibility of modelling an elastic impact between balls in a double pendulum and between balls in an autobalancer with a horizontal axis of rotation of the rotor
Simões Network 2 (SN2): A special model for special needing
Functional Orthopedics appliances must follow strict rules of construction and respect the correct indications, to achieve the proposed goals. The approach must be individualized for each patient according to each needing. Dr Wilma Alexandre Simões created a network of appliances, with no similarity with other appliances created by other authors. Her appliances respect rigid scientific fundamentals and provide for the clinician special tools for solving different types of occlusopathies. Here we present some rules, developed, and scientifically supported by the authors, in order to optimize the use of one of Simões Network called SN2
Structure and movement, let’s not kill Chronos
The myth of Chronos that devours his children is the allegorical expression of time that ends everything, but there is another reading: that time exists and allows us to understand the idea of a process, of evolution, both biologically and in any other aspect of life. The structure is the static, current, measurable morphological expression of everything that has a physical manifestation. Movement is the expression of life that is inexorably written on the structure and is responsible for its dynamism and change. We have developed the ability to analyse the structure in a systematic and detailed way, isolating it from time, and therefore depriving it of the movement that animates it, fixing the moment with static photographic images. With direct cephalometric techniques or on radiography we have defined points and reference systems, measured, compared, made proportions, and described the layout. Like the Art, the Morphological Sciences evolve from a two-dimensional vision to a three-dimensional one and we have given importance to empty spaces. But unlike art, we have difficulty internalizing and becoming aware of movement and the vital energy that animates it. Studying Movement means studying Form along Time. Structure and Function are two sides of the same coin, and our field is a clear example of this. We cannot work on occlusion without understanding the functions associated with the whole system: breathing, swallowing, chewing, are the main sources of stimuli responsible for the development of the Stomatognathic System, which has the movement as its main engine. In our clinical practice we are convinced that seeking an integration between Form and Function provides balance and health to the system and therefore delays the negative effects of Time, and coherently understanding the Form-Function-Time triad provides a broader understanding of development and balance of our system
