Study on dynamic characteristic of closed-cell aluminum foam
Closed-cell aluminum foam has been widely used in aerospace, rail transit and mechanical for its outstanding performance. But for a long time, the research on its vibration damping performance is only limited to the material damping test, there are relatively few studies on its dynamic characteristics. In this paper, we studied the relationship between dynamic characteristic and feature parameters. Modal assurance criterion and Finite element method were used to verify the accuracy of experimental model. It turned out that the average pore diameter of closed-cell aluminum foam conforms to Gaussian distribution. The modal analysis method can be used in the research of dynamic characteristic of closed-cell aluminum foam. Its damping ratio showed increasing trend with the increase of porosity, natural frequency and the decrease of mean pore size. Each order natural frequency increases along with the increase of porosity
Development of test bench with airflow for resonator acoustic performance measurement
Acoustic properties of resonators installed in vehicle intake system are influenced by the high-speed airflow passing through, which causes errors between practical application and bench tests. In this paper, a test bench with airflow for measuring the resonator transmission loss is developed based on the principle of two-load method. Equipment types are selected and parameters calculation is presented. Effects of sound source protection devices on the performance of sound source are studied experimentally. A resistance resonator and several dissipative mufflers are mounted at the outlet of the vortex air pump to reduce airflow noise and verified to be effective. Finally, the transmission loss of a multi-chamber perforated resonator is measured with the developed test bench and effects of airflow on resonator acoustic properties are analyzed
Safety study of cast-in-situ support for double track railway on wide channel beam bridge
Prestress concrete channel beam bridge is a new structure suitable for railway bridges. Due to its advantages under stress, construction and economy, channel beam has been widely used and developed rapidly in engineering construction. However, the concrete track bed plate of channel beam bridge has the characteristics of large transverse width and weight, the stress of inclined wall box girder, complicated construction process, difficult control of concrete crack, and high construction technical difficulty. Therefore, it is necessary to study the wide channel beam bridge. This paper carries out safety checking calculation on the support structure of Bailey beams of channel beam bridge. The results showed that the supporting structure can be considered to be safe. The relevant structural safety design can provide reference to similar projects
Multi-body dynamic simulation and vibration transmission characteristics of dual-rotor system for aeroengine with rubbing coupling faults
In this paper, a dual-rotor system multi-body dynamic model with rubbing coupling faults is established for practical aero-engine. In the model, the rubbing fault simulation method is introduced, the coupling effect between the internal and external rotor is considered. The numerical simulations of rotor vibration are accomplished by the utilization of multi-body dynamic platform, where the simulation model consists of discs unbalances and local rub-impact between discs and casing shells. The time-domain responses, the frequency spectra and the shaft-center trajectories of dual-rotor with different unbalance and different rubbing positions are obtained. The vibration and its transmission characteristics of the inner and outer rotors are calculated. Finally, the simulation results are compared with the measured vibration of a dual rotor tester with rubbing fault. The simulation results are consistent with the measured results, which confirms the feasibility of the established model and the multi-body dynamics simulation method in this paper. The application of multi-body dynamics simulation method in aero-engine can deepen the understanding of the internal operation nature and laws of aero-engine, reduce the repetition of physical tests, greatly improve the efficiency and quality of development, accelerate the research and manufacture process
Research on cold mechanical vibration of air-cooled disc brake
Cold mechanical vibration of air-cooled brake disc is mainly caused by the non-uniform geometry, including disk thickness variation (DTV) and side face run-out (SFR). A mathematical model consisting of the non-uniform geometry is constructed, which is imported into the dynamic brake model established by Lagrange equation as initial parameters. The braking moment fluctuation during braking process is obtained by MATLAB software. The experimental verification is realized based on Link3900 NVH test platform, where result shows that the calculated brake pressure is quite consistent with the test value. By single variable method, the key influence factor that affected braking moment fluctuation is analyzed, including DTV, SFR, friction coefficient, contact stiffness coefficient and damping coefficient. The conclusion shows that reducing these parameters within a certain range can significantly reduce the amplitude of cold vibration, except for the contact damping coefficient
Effect of change in position of particle dampers on wind turbine blade for vibration suppression
Wind turbine energy minimizes due to vibration of blade. In this research we focus on vibration suppression by using particle damping technique. Containers are used for fill the particles and mounted on the blade. As vibration of blade increases, it increases the movement of containers along with particles this brings particle to particle and particle to container wall collision takes place which results to energy loss. In this study we use four different positions for mounting containers, firstly on all four different positions we mount containers simultaneously and take three readings for three different ball sizes respectively, keeping 50 % fill constant in all readings. Then we reduce one container among four and take the readings. Repeat this procedure up to single container. Compare with damping results with without damping results and finding out optimum locations for mounting of dampers
A versatile algorithm for estimating natural frequencies with high accuracy
Detection of damage requires an accurate estimation of the natural frequencies of the monitored structure. This paper introduces an algorithm implemented in Python which improves the frequency readability by increasing the number of spectral lines without requiring a signal extension in the time domain. We achieve this by overlapping several spectra calculated from the acquired signal repeatedly shortened. In this way, the overlapped spectrum gets an increased number of spectral lines. The dense mesh of spectral lines permits us to obtain a fine frequency resolution without being necessary an extension of the signal in the time domain. The high density of the spectral lines ensures a sufficient number of points on the main lobes that permits performing an efficient quadratic polynomial interpolation to find the maximizer. It represents the amplitude of the real frequency and is typically located on an inter-line position, thus cannot be found by standard frequency estimation. We implemented the algorithm in Python and tested it successfully for generated signals, containing one or more harmonics, with known frequencies
Impact of selected sources of transport vibrations on the perception of vibrations by people in buildings
Vibrations propagating through the soil into the building can not only be harmful to the building structure or cause its accelerated wear, but can also effect on the vibrational comfort in the rooms. They can also be annoying for residents and building users, and in extreme cases can lead to sleep disorders, headaches and neurotic conditions. Especially vibrations from the low frequency range from 5 to 25 Hz are undesirable, because there are resonance frequencies of human internal organs in this frequency range. The human perception of vibrations in buildings, despite many researches made in the past, despite standards and requirements in this area, is still a topic not fully understood mainly due to the subjective nature of the perception of vibrations by various people. It is widely known that the type of transport vibration source has an impact on human perception. Vibrations generated by above-ground sources are more felt on the upper floors as opposed to vibrations generated from the underground. In this paper three types of transport vibrations are analyzed on one chosen building located in Warsaw. Human perception of vibration is evaluated according to two methods: root mean squared (RMS) and vibration dose value (VDV)
On the combination of topology optimization and multiple mass dampers
This paper presents a vibration reducing mechanism combining the bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO) method and the multiple mass damper (MMD) method. The BESO method changes the mass and stiffness distribution of a structure, in order to push the most significant natural frequency away from the driving frequency. The removal of less stressed material by the BESO method creates hollow spaces in the structure. The MMD will be installed in the hollow spaces, and reduces the resonance vibration amplitude of the most significant mode
Simulation and experiment research of vibration characteristic on star compressor
Aiming at the vibration defects of star compressor, simulation and experiment are carried out to investigate the compressor. By drilling holes in the valve stem, the pressure changes of each cylinder are measured without damaging the cylinder block. The dynamic model of crank-connecting rod mechanism is established. After the measured cylinder pressure loaded on the dynamic model, the force acting on the main motion pair is obtained. The finite element model of the compressor is established for the first time, the force of the motion pair is loaded on the finite element model by MPC coupling method, and the vibration acceleration of the machine base is tested. The result shows that the main modal shapes between 50-150 Hz are body deformation, modal shapes between 150-200 Hz are base deformation, the simulation acceleration of the base is higher than that of the experiment, and the main working frequency and frequency doubling can correspond. The conclusions provide reference for vibration isolation design of star compressor
