Experimental study on ground vibration response in gun firing environment
In order to know the ground vibration response law of gun firing environment, a large caliber gun was taken as the research object, and the ground vibration response law of gun firing environment was tested. Several acceleration sensors are arranged on the ground around the gun, and the ground vibration acceleration response laws of the gun position in the firing environment are obtained. The firing of gun will cause the ground vibration of gun position. In the bore period, as long as the projectile is fired, there will be acceleration response on the ground of the gun position. The maximum acceleration response of ground vibration in the bore period of projectile is less than 0.03 g. The maximum acceleration response of ground vibration is less than 0.1 g after projectile exits the muzzle and before the muzzle shock wave reaches the ground. If the sensor bracket is placed on the ground around the gun, when the muzzle shock wave does not reach the sensor position, the influence of ground vibration on the sensor can be neglected. Once the muzzle shock wave reaches the sensor position, its influence should be paid attention to
Nonlinear crack assessment method in beams based on bispectrum-normal cloud model
Fatigue damage in engineering structures is universal. The occurrence of fatigue cracks brings unpredictable hidden dangers to a structure in terms of safety and service performance. Traditional damage identification methods, such as power spectrum analysis, are mostly based on linear elasticity theory that cannot reflect the typical nonlinear characteristics of fatigue cracks and cannot meet the higher requirements of the signal analysis method put forward by current mass detection data. To solve this problem, a numerical model of a cantilever beam with a breathing crack is established in this study. A method for diagnosing fatigue damage is studied by combining bispectral analysis and a statistical normal cloud model, which characterize the nonlinear characteristics of the structure. This method can effectively describe the nonlinear characteristics of the structure and reasonably evaluate the degree of fatigue damage in the structure. The bispectrum-normal cloud model method proposed in this study overcomes the limitations of existing linear damage detection methods in nonlinear damage detection, and can improve the efficiency of signal analysis from a statistical point of view. It has good prospects for structural nonlinear damage assessment
Experimental determination on the critical angle of seismic incidence of curved bridge
The shaking table model test mainly focuses on the study of seismic response law, aseismic performance and seismic damping and isolation effect of bridges with a single or multi-platform shaking table. Basically, the plane principal axis direction is adopted for the seismic input of structural models. Little research effort considering multi-angle seismic input has been reported in the structural model test. In this paper we designed and conducted a small-scale shaking table model test to study the seismic response law of the curved girder bridges with seismic input at different angles, and provided experimental verification for the theoretical method of the most unfavorable angle of seismic input. The experimental results show that the variation trend of component response to variation of the seismic input direction is consistent with that of the numerical analysis, which indicates that the designed device is effective
Forced response characteristics of random mistuned blade disk based on weibull distribution and monte carlo simulation
This paper presents a method of mistuning identification of a random mistuned bladed parameter, to predict the forced vibration characteristics of random mistuned blade disk of aeroengine compressor, based on the prestress mode synthesis method, substructure finite element reduction model was adopted, the identification method combines Weibull distribution with Monte Carlo simulation to identify the random mistuned blade parameters. The vibration characteristics of mistuned bladed disks under different engine orders of excitation were calculated, and the vibration characteristics of mistuned bladed disk systems under different mistuning standard deviations were discussed. Vibration localization characteristics of mistuned bladed disk system were analysed by using localization factor. The correctness of the identification method was verified by calculating the vibration amplitude of mistuned bladed disk system under different mistuning standard deviations
Experimental setup for unbalance fault detection and vibration analysis in a cardan shaft (Part B)
This paper experiments a vibration measurement on a twin-rotor connected by a Hooke’s joints. An experimental set-up for vibration analysis and unbalance fault detection in rotating machinery has been conducted to reveal the unbalance effect in signal transmission of the interconnected shaft through Hooke’s joint. Vibrations signals were measured and analysed using the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), orbit patterns and time displacement of each rotor centre, to extract the signature of the unbalance fault. The results indicate the accuracy of the discussed approach for the twin-rotor unbalances diagnosis in an interconnected shafts system through a Hooke’s joint
Forecasting probable maximum precipitation using innovative algorithm to estimate atmosphere precipitable water vapor
Total Precipitable Water Vapor (TPW) has an impact on many atmospheric and hydrological processes which can be calculated by the spatial and temporal resolution of weather conditions. Moreover, precipitable water vapor plays a significant role in predicting the weather so that climate change can be constantly monitored by spatial and temporal variations. Water vapor is one of the most abundant greenhouse gases that has an increasing effect on the heat of the earth. Therefore, zonation of precipitable water vapor map in global scale improves the understanding of hydrologists from the hydrological cycle, Earth and atmosphere reactions, the energy cost, and climate change through greenhouse gas emissions. The complex reactions between water vapor, aeroes and clouds, and difficulties in estimating their true amounts make it impossible to evaluate the effect of water vapor on heightening the heat generated by greenhouse gases. One of the most common methods for estimating the precipitable water vapor is the use of remote sensing technique since satellite images are captured continuously within a spatial area. The most crucial advantage of estimating precipitable water vapor by using microwave data over other methods such as optical data is its application and availability on cloudy days. Since microwaves are capable of crossing the clouds, algorithms developed based on them remain functional, whereas optical-based algorithms do not show appropriate performance on the cloudy days. In this study, the efficiency of the remote sensing microwave data in estimating precipitable water vapor parameter has been evaluated in different areas of Iran in order to achieve an algorithm which can predict the desired parameter precisely at spatial resolution and within extreme weather conditions as well as drought
Vibrations of the nonlinear system in which stationary harmonic excited multivalued regimes in the vicinities of resonances do not exist
A nonlinear dynamical system is investigated which consists from a mass between two linear elastic connecting elements with different coefficients of stiffness. Laws of vibrations and characteristics of eigenvibrations of the system as well as of self-decaying vibrations of the system with damping and of the system with harmonic excitation are determined. Dynamical qualities of the system are revealed. It is shown that the system has infinite number of eigenfrequencies and that in the resonance zones multivalued stable and unstable motions do not exist in the system
Pedestrian traffic induced lateral vibration including the effect of TMD
This study explores the dynamic behavior of beam induced by bipedal pedestrian traffic and corresponding vibration reducing method by tuned mass damper. Each pedestrian from motion crowd simplifies as a bipedal robot comprised of a lump mass and two massless spring-damping legs. In addition, the tuned mass dampers are installed on the bottom of structure to relieving the vibration of structure. The interactions among pedestrians, tuned mass dampers and structure are considered to establish a governing equation. Research indicates that both the tuned mass damper and pedestrian evidently alter the structural properties of the structure by affecting its frequency and damping capacity. The structure tends to be gently flexible at a lower frequency as pedestrian walk across its surface, but the corresponding damping capacity of the structure is improved. The tuned mass damper always improves both the vibration response and dynamic properties of structure. However, its self-dynamic characteristics of the tuned mass damper tend to deteriorate. The tuned mass damper relieves effectively the lateral vibration in a slender structure than the rigid structure. The change in the mass ratio of tuned mass damper to structure affects significantly the dynamic behaviors of structure. In addition, the layouts of the tuned mass dampers on structure also have remarkable influences on the behaviors. The results of this study provide potential pathways for understanding the vibratory mechanisms of slender structures such as footbridges, grandstands, or stations under crowd excitations
Dynamics of osteoblasts during bone remodeling cycle
Bone is a dynamic connective tissue which adjusts to load variations through continuous bone remodeling, which occurs due to the dynamic behavior of bone cells. Many researchers made attempts in obtaining the dynamic characteristics of osteoblasts and its role in bone remodeling cycle. While making an effort to understand the effects of mechanical stimuli on the osteoblast, certain ambiguity is observed in the past literatures. This paper is to demonstrate the dynamics of osteoblast cells and exhibition of different natural frequencies during its life cycle. Osteoblast is modeled as a frustum of a sphere, considering it as a continuum model. The three prominent parts of an osteoblast, i.e., membrane, cytoplasm and nucleus are considered with reported material properties. Lifespan of an active osteoblast during bone remodeling cycle is considered as 90 days and progressive osteoblast stages are analysed using Ansys. First ten natural frequencies and mode shapes are extracted for nine stages and reported. It is observed that the natural frequencies of a micron sized osteoblast are in the range of kHz. A mathematical relation for the lifespan of an active osteoblast is obtained using curve fitting for fundamental natural frequencies. The natural frequency for exciting an active osteoblast on each particular day during its lifespan can be derived from the relation. This relation can serve as a guiding tool in bioengineering for in vitro bone cell culturing. Results also throw light on the excitation frequency and natural frequency of an osteoblast for proper analysis purpose. The different modes of vibration of osteoblast is identified and reported
Transmission of vibrations from the ground to the foundation from the movement of passenger trains
The article presents the results of vibration measurements from passenger train journeys from the ground to the building foundation. The vibration acceleration courses from the Pendolino passenger train were used for the analysis. The measurements were carried out in a single-family brick building at the existing railway line. The measurement results can be used in the future to analyze buildings located at railway lines where passenger traffic takes place. The results of the analyzes can also be useful in assessing the impact of vibrations from the railway line on people staying in buildings
