Carbon deposition fault diagnosis of small piston engine based on optimized VMD
Aiming at the small piston engine carbon deposition fault in the process of running, based on the cylinder pressure and cylinder head vibration signal of the engine, a fault diagnosis method combining variational mode decomposition and support vector machine is used to diagnose the engine carbon deposition fault. Firstly, particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to optimize the parameters of the variational mode decomposition. Then, the intrinsic mode function is obtained by processing the pressure signal and cylinder head vibration signal of the engine. Then, the singular spectrum entropy is calculated by singular value decomposition of the intrinsic mode function. Finally, the singular spectrum entropy is input into the support vector machine classifier as the feature data set for training and testing. The results show that this method can identify the carbon deposition fault of the starting motor well, and the accuracy of fault identification and classification of cylinder pressure and cylinder head vibration signal is 98.33 % and 99.17 % respectively, which verifies the effectiveness of this method
New CO2 and Hydrogen storage site marketing: How to make your storage site unique and attractive?
Today we met the situation, when our knowledge and expertise are far away from marketing – an ability to sell our knowledge to the end-user (public, policymakers, governments, and small and big enterprises). This study aimed to attract stakeholders by proposing new techno-ecological synergy concept of geological storage of CO2 (CGS) and hydrogen (UHS) in a cost-competitive, self-supporting storage site. The “story of success” of the offshore geological structure E6 in Latvia has started from an invisible point on the European map, oil-bearing but not very promising geological structure to the unique and one of the best cost-competitive, self-supporting, conceptual techno-ecological examples of a possible synergy of storage concepts with renewables energies. Using detailed petrophysical, mineralogical and geochemical analyses of the Cambrian Series 3 Deimena Formation reservoir sandstones in this structure, the CO2 storage capacity was estimated with different levels of reliability from a conservative 158 Mt (106-252 Mt) up to an average optimistic average of 396 Mt (264-631 Mt). The theoretical CO2 storage capacity in the oil-bearing limestones of the Upper Ordovician Saldus Formation was estimated at the end of the Enhanced Oil Recovery cycle using the CO2 (CO2-EOR) as an average of 110 Mt (65-144 Mt). The E6 structure was estimated as the most prospective and the largest for CO2 geological storage in the Baltic Region with a total average CO2 storage capacity of about 500 Mt. Time-lapse numerical seismic modelling was applied to analyze the feasibility of CO2 storage monitoring in the E6. The novelty of this approach was the coupling of the chemically induced petrophysical alteration effect of CO2-hosting rocks, measured in the laboratory during the CO2 injection-like experiment, with time-lapse numerical seismic modelling. According to changes in the amplitude and two-way travel times in the presence of CO2, reflection seismic could detect CO2 injected into the deep aquifer formations even with low CO2 saturation values. Our results showed the effectiveness of the implemented time-lapse rock physics and seismic methods in the monitoring of the CO2 plume evolution and migration in the E6. The new concept of techno-ecological synergy of the CCUS project with different eco-friendly renewable energy recovery technologies, which support circular economy targets, is presented. The concept of the CCUS project includes six innovative elements of techno-ecological synergy: (1) CGS, (2) Geothermal energy recovery during CO2 geological storage (CPG), (3) CO2-EOR, (4) underground hydrogen storage (UHS), (5) solar energy and (6) wind energy recovery. This concept should maximise efficiency, minimize the carbon footprint of the full-chain CCUS process and demonstrate the “winx” situation (where “x” is a number of additional benefits of the project). We demonstrated an example of the project supporting also a win5 global situation (that is, a win-win scenario with a minimum of five potential global outcomes): greenhouse gas emissions (GHGE) reduction, (2) economic profitability, (3) increased CO2 storage capacity, (4) public acceptance and (5) retargeting of oil and gas businesses. Small wind offshore floating plant installed around the rig and solar panels covering free surfaces of the rig and a compact geothermal plant using CO2 (20 times smaller than a conventional plant) will produce renewable energy added to the project electricity net to cover the energy needs of the project. The excess energy will be used by compact hydrogen production plant established directly on the rig. The produced hydrogen could be stored underground and when needed, transported by ship to the port. For the first time, we estimated hydrogen storage capacity in the E6-B, the smaller compartment of the E6 offshore structure as 30 Kt. This scenario is a basis for the new concept of CO2 and hydrogen storage site marketing: how to retarget fossil fuel business (the depleted oil and gas fields) into the storage-targeted and renewable energy business, permitted to achieve the carbon-free energy transition using principles of circular economy and sustainable use of resources and environment
Three-dimensional numerical simulation of multi-physical coupled environment during electromagnetic propulsion
Electromagnetic propulsion technology is a new propulsion technology which uses electromagnetic force to push objects into high or ultra-high speed. However, during propulsion, the armature and launch load are affected by harsh multi-physics environment. The coupled effect was often ignored or over idealized in previous numerical simulations, which leads to large errors between simulation and experiment. In this paper, a three-dimensional multi-physics coupling environment simulation model is established. The distribution of electromagnetic field, structure field and temperature field in armature from static to high speed are effectively calculated. Moreover, the coupled effect between physical fields and the influence of key parameters on the simulation results are revealed. In conclusion, this model can reproduce the physical field distribution of armature and rail during electromagnetic propulsion. The time-varying resistance and inductance and the velocity skin effect (VSE) are the key parameters affecting armature movement. This method reveals a feasible path for the simplification of multi-physical model and the mitigation of extreme environment
Squeak and Rattle recognition based on speaker recognition
Squeak and Rattle problems seriously affect the quality of the vehicles. In the adjustment stage of the automobile development process, engineers mainly rely on subjective evaluation to diagnose squeak and rattle noises, which is prone to misjudgment, missed judgment and time-consuming problems. There are gaps in relevant objective evaluation methods. This article proposed that speaker identification is used to identify squeak and rattle noises from the audio recorded in the test, to achieve objective and accurate results. In this paper, four kinds of squeak and rattle noise audios are used as samples, Mel Frequency Cepstrum Coefficient is extracted as feature vector to construct target Gaussian mixture models (GMM). The expectation, variance and correlation coefficient of the Gaussian mixture model can be calculated to describe the difference of multiple squeak and rattle noises. Using samples to judge accuracy rate, the results indicated that the acceptance accuracy rate reaches 100 %, and the rejection accuracy rate reaches more than 95 %
Effect of the temperature increase in oil-immersed electric reactor on the stress loss of the fastening rods of core limb
The noise and vibration of large oil-immersed reactor is usually controlled and reduced by using high-strength pretensioned steel rods to fasten iron cores. But the effect of uneven temperature increase in the reactor on the pretension relaxation of steel rods is rarely discussed in previous literatures. A combined fastening device of high-strength steel rod and disc spring is designed to conduct temperature experiment in this paper. And three-dimensional (3D) finite element model is developed to reproduce the experiment process. After the numerical simulation method is verified, finite element analysis of a real BKD-6700/20 oil-immersed reactor is performed. The prestress loss proportion of the high-strength pretensioned steel rods in the oil-immersed reactor under practical operating state is 17.91 % owing to its uneven temperature rise, which can result in significantly weakening of its vibration and noise reduction function
Research on IGOA-LSSVM based fault diagnosis of power transformers
Power transformer is an important part of power equipment, and its functionality affects the proper operation of the whole power network. In order to diagnose power transformer faults effectively, the authors propose a fault diagnosis strategy based on an improved locust optimization algorithm for least squares vector machines (IGOA-LSSVM). Firstly, it was required to address the problem that the diagnostic prediction accuracy of the least squares vector machine is reduced due to its parameters. So this paper introduces the locust optimization algorithm with simple algorithm structure and good performance for optimizing the parameters. And at the same time, the authors generate an improved locust optimization algorithm with self-learning factors, proportional weight coefficients and Levy flight strategy. Secondly, the improved locust optimization algorithm is used for optimizing the least squares vector machine parameters. Finally, in the simulation experiments, the results of the benchmark test function illustrate that the IGOA algorithm has better performance, and the test results of a fault samples diagnosis of the power transformer equipment illustrate that the IGOA-LSSVM has good prediction effect and improves the fault identification accuracy compared with ACO-LSSVM and PSO-LSSVM in five types of fault diagnosis
Study on bearing mechanical and thermal characteristic evolvement rules affected by higher ambient temperature
In this paper, the bearing mechanical characteristics and thermal characteristics as it is running under constant speed (2400 r/min) and constant temperature (100 ℃) adopting bearing mechanical-thermal coupling model built on the basis of quasi-statics and elastohydrodynamic lubrication theory are discussed. Among which, the contact deformation between ball and inner/outer ring has same evolution law, besides, the same as the amplitude. Whose curve shape changes in the form of “circular-oblique D”, its amplitude rearches minimum value at 10thd3h between the location of 120° and 270°. The curve shapes belonging to contact angular between ball and inner/outer ring are similar to “circular”. There is opposite trend of them within the range of 90-300°. The amplitude of contact angular between ball and outer ring is the minimum at 10thd3h and 11thd1h. At the same time, the amplitude of that between ball and inner ring is the maximum. The evolution rules of contact stiffness between ball and inner/outer ring are generally consistent, which are similar to “crab”. But the amplitude of that between ball and outer ring is dominant. The maximum value of them occurs at 10thd3 and 11thd1h. The evolvement tendency of node temperatures maintains stable. Thereinto, the temperature of inner ring equals to that of contact location between ball and inner ring, which is the maximum value. It is obvious that ME, MD, MS, MCB, MCR and MOil devote themselves to heat production, the contribution rates of ME, MS, MCB and MCR are 100 %, the contribution rate of MD ranges from 52.6 % to 65.2 %. However, the amplitudes of friction moments have the opposite trend compared to “heat contribution factor”. The expansion amount owing to heat production is dominant in displacement variation and the effect of clearance on displacement can be ignored, whose evolution rules are contrary. The evolution rules of oil film thickness and oil film stiffness between ball and inner/outer ring are alike. Among which, the oil film thickness between ball and outer ring is dominant, its maximum value emerges at 10thd3h. The curve shapes of oil film stiffness between ball and outer/inner ring are oblique “D”, their amplitudes reach the maximum at 11thd1h-11thd3h
Clinical application of digitalization of occlusal contacts with dental scanner
This study aimed to evaluate the number, intensity and position of occlusal contact points in a case of mesiocclusion, hyperdivergence, with open bite. An occlusal record was taken from a patient with anterior and lateral open bite mesiocclusion, using the Planmeca Esmerald S intraoral scanner in maximum intercuspation. The intensity of the occlusal contact was analyzed with the software 3shape Ortho Analyzer Orthodontics, using the Occlusion Map module, through the 3D Color Map tool, with a 0.5 mm virtual articular paper. These results were compared to the occlusal support points defined by Planas [10]. The interpretation of the data obtained was made by assessing the interocclusal intensity of the contact points, number of contacts and position during three different moments (1S, 2S, 3S) in the record taking process. The chromatic scale of the Color Map is: red, orange, yellow, green and blue. To identify the occlusal contact points in digital, they are shown in red points when full contact occurs, while minimum contact is shown in blue. We evaluated the number of teeth with interocclusal contacts. It was determined that having the appropriate number of contacts does not imply that they are in the correct position. In addition, the method suggests reliability in the filing and record keeping of occlusal contacts. By identifying intensity, number and position of the occlusal support point we can objectively record interocclusal alterations
Optimal PMU placements using sea lion optimization for adaptable distribution system
The technological advancements and policy reformations make the electric power distribution system an active network. The modern power system operational regulations encourage coordinated network operations among various entities and customer participation. Unlike traditional operational environments, real-time monitoring has become a mandate for secure and reliable operations. Phasor Measurement Units (PMU) is the most reliable data acquisition tool, and their application for State Estimation (SE) has already been proven. This work extends the application of PMUs for the distribution system. A multi-objective optimization framework is proposed considering the optimal placement of PMU, network reconfiguration, and topology expansion. A novel optimization tool, the sea lion optimizer has been chosen to address the developed optimization problem. The proposed operational model is employed in IEEE RBTS-2 bus system, IEEE 33 node system and 69 node radial distribution network. Numerical results provide new insights into PMUs role in enhancing distribution network operations. The statistical indices confirm that the intended optimizer performs well in the chosen highly constrained optimization environment
Numerical model for the settlement of loess subgrade in operation period reinforced by rotary jet grouting pile
The problems of subgrade settlement failure and uneven settlement are quite prominent due to hydraulic migration. The loess in the natural state has the characteristics of high strength and low compressibility. Composite foundation method is to set a certain proportion of reinforcement (pile) in the natural foundation, so that the pile and soil jointly bear the load, and has the effect of compaction method and displacement method. Based on the actual case of a highway disease in Shanxi Province, this paper studies the influence of treatment measures of rotary jet grouting pile penetrating or not penetrating the loess soil on the uneven settlement of highway subgrade in loess region by means of field investigation, analysis and numerical calculation. The results found that the lateral friction resistance of rotary-jet grouting pile penetrates through the loess is small. When the rotarjet pile is long and the underlying soft layer is relatively thick (4.5 m), the settlement of the foundation also quickly enters the stable state. When the underlying loess is deep, the settlement of the foundation increases with time
