Study on the extraction method of the friction-induced vibration signal of rotary compressors

    Get PDF
The operation noise level of air conditioners has been a main concern to consumers. The friction-induced vibration and noise have a contribution to the overall operation noise level of air conditioners. In this paper, two rotary compressors were tested to measure the vibration and noise of the compressors. The friction-induced vibration signals were extracted using a combination of the harmonic wavelet transform and the envelope spectrum analysis. The two rotary compressors were disassembled to check whether the compressor parts have been worn after testing. Results show that when the crankshaft was worn, the friction-induced vibration of compressors is strong. At low rotational speeds of the rotary compressor, the friction-induced vibration is easily excited, which is probably attributed to the boundary lubrication at the interface between the crankshaft and bearing. At high rotational speeds of the rotary compressor, the friction-induced vibration is not easy to be excited, which is probably attributed to the aerodynamic lubrication at the interface between the crankshaft and bearing

    Get PDF
Using the nonlocal Euler-Bernouli beam model, this paper is carried out to investigate the vibrations and instability of a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) conveying fluid subjected to a longitudinal magnetic field. The nanobeam with clamped-clamped boundary conditions lies on the Pasternak foundation. Hamilton’s principle is applied to derive the fluid-structure interaction (FSI) governing equation and the corresponding boundary conditions. In the solution part the differential transformation method (DTM) is used to solve the differential equations of motion. The influences of nonlocal parameter, longitudinal magnetic field, Pasternak foundation on the critical divergence velocity of the nanotubes is studied

Techno-economic modelling of the Baltic CCUS onshore scenario

    Get PDF
Techno-economic modelling of the Baltic onshore CO2 transport, storage, and utilization scenario included HeidelberCement-owned Kunda Nordic Cement (KNC) plant, the main Estonian cement producer, four Estonian and one Latvian power plant and CO2 mineral carbonation of the oil shale ash, as possible CO2 use option. In 2019 nearly 6.5 Mt of oil shale ash (OSA) was produced in Estonia from energy production. Estonian OSA could be used as an effective sorbent in the proposed CO2-mineralization process, using CO2 from flue gas and producing precipitated CaCO3 (PCC) of high quality. Mineral carbonation of 0.42 Mt CO2 using 3.8 Mt of fresh OSA and about 6.33 Mt CO2 produced annually by five Estonian and one Latvian plant transported by pipeline for storage into the North-Blidene structure in western Latvia are combined in the CCUS scenario. Cambrian Deimena Formation reservoir sandstone is located at the depth of 1035-1150 m in the selected saline aquifer. The average optimistic storage capacity of about 270 Mt allows planning CCUS project for 30 years. The share of the Estonian emissions avoided and stored in Latvia is 86.5 %, including 8.2 % by KNC, while Latvian stored emissions will compose 13.5 %. Annually 6.8 Mt CO2 could be captured, transported and injected, including 6 Mt CO2 avoided using transport and storage and 0.42 Mt CO2 avoided using MC of Estonian OSA. During 30 years nearly 204 Mt CO2 will be captured, used and stored, while 193 Mt CO2 could be avoided. The total average transport and storage (T&S) cost of the scenario is 18.4 €/t CO2 injected. This cost depends on the transport distance, according to the applied methodology, and it is the most expensive for the Eesti Energia PPs. The lowest T&S cost of 5.54 €/t CO2 injected will have Latvenergo TEC-2 PP located at a smaller distance from the storage site. At the price of EEAP (CO2 Emission Allowance Price in EU ETS) of 40 €/t CO2 and 50 €/t PCC, the CCUS scenario could be beneficial for three Eesti Energia and Latvenergo TEC-2 power plants. For the KNC and VKG Energia plants without CO2 use options, the higher EEAP of about 48-50 €/t CO2 is needed to cover all CCUS costs including capture, compression, transport, storage and monitoring. The transport and storage costs are distance-dependent, as pipelines are the most expensive part of the transport, storage and monitoring costs. At the present EEAP of about 90 €/t CO2, all the participating plants will get benefits from the proposed scenario. This study is supported by CLEANKER project, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement n. 764816

    Tongue-and lip-tie beyond breastfeeding difficulties

    Get PDF
The diagnosis and treatment of tethered oral tie tissues, such as ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) and lip-tie, have grown substantially. Although robust evidence indicates that these abnormal anatomic variations are associated with breastfeeding difficulties, impaired craniofacial growth, sleep, speech and posture in children, both diagnosis and treatment of oral ties remain controversial. The oral cavity displays considerable morphological variation across individuals. One of these variations includes tight, restrictive connective tissue between oral structures known as tethered oral tie tissues (TOTs). The clinical view regarding these anomalies has evolved with increasing interest not only in tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) but also in lip-tie [1-3]. Ankyloglossia has been considered a risk factor for breastfeeding difficulties [4-16]. Recent evidence indicates that TOTs can be also associated with whole-body consequences, such as reflux, dental malocclusion, and respiratory disorders, ultimately increasing the risk of sleep and speech disorders, and detrimental changes in posture and eating patterns [13, 17-25]. The prevalence of TOTs is highly variable across populations and is still a matter of ample debate. Currently, there is a lack of consensus on diagnosis criteria, best surgical treatment techniques, and pre- and post-surgery care [19, 26, 27]. Yet, the diagnosis and surgical treatment of TOTs have substantially increased in recent years [28-31]. This mini-review will summarize evidence-based data regarding the cascade of consequences of tongue-tie and lip-tie in children and the main signs and symptoms of these anomalies in newborns. It will also discuss the available evidence on treatment options for TOTs, including pre- and post-surgical care that may enable better outcomes and prevention of possible complications. For a better understanding, tongue-tie and lip-tie will be addressed separately

Numerical model for the settlement of loess subgrade in operation period reinforced by rotary jet grouting pile

    Get PDF
The problems of subgrade settlement failure and uneven settlement are quite prominent due to hydraulic migration. The loess in the natural state has the characteristics of high strength and low compressibility. Composite foundation method is to set a certain proportion of reinforcement (pile) in the natural foundation, so that the pile and soil jointly bear the load, and has the effect of compaction method and displacement method. Based on the actual case of a highway disease in Shanxi Province, this paper studies the influence of treatment measures of rotary jet grouting pile penetrating or not penetrating the loess soil on the uneven settlement of highway subgrade in loess region by means of field investigation, analysis and numerical calculation. The results found that the lateral friction resistance of rotary-jet grouting pile penetrates through the loess is small. When the rotarjet pile is long and the underlying soft layer is relatively thick (4.5 m), the settlement of the foundation also quickly enters the stable state. When the underlying loess is deep, the settlement of the foundation increases with time

Forecasting rainfall and potential for repeated events to predict flood areas in Banten province, Indonesia

    Get PDF
In a period of ten years, from 2011-2020 rainfall in Indonesia is relatively high, with annual rainfall between 460.5-4,627.4 mm. The high rainfall has implications for flooding in several provinces. During this period, almost every year several areas in Banten Province experienced floods. To predict areas of Banten Province that have the potential for flooding, forecasts of rainfall and the potential for repeated occurrences of high rainfall are carried out. In making the forecast, observations were made at the Serang Meteorological Station, the Budiarto Curug Meteorological Station, the South Tangerang Climatology Station, and the Tangerang Geophysics Station. Rainfall data from the four stations were analyzed by Fourier transform, Gumbel method and Mononobe method. Distribution analysis results obtained rainfall in Banten Province between 0.0-607.9 mm with the length of rainy days per month between 0-26 days. Then, the results of the Fourier transform analysis; Banten Province included a monsoon rain pattern with unimodial rainfall. Furthermore, the results of the analysis of the Gumbel method and the Mononobe method, Banten Province included the category of moderate rain and tended to be heavy, even extreme. Based on the results of the analysis using these two methods, in 2025 in Banten Province, it is predicted that 11 % heavy rain, 3 % very heavy rain and 1 % extreme rain are predicted. In that year, it is predicted that there will be 65 sub-districts in Banten Province that have the potential for flooding. The sub-districts that have the potential for flooding are mostly located in Serang Regency, Serang City, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang City. This potential flood is predicted to occur in: January, February, March, April, May, October and November

Numerical convergence of the family of flux-continuous schemes with variable quadrature (qu1,qu2) for single phase flow in porous media

    No full text
Finite-volume schemes, which honor pressure and flux-continuity conditions, is developed using double quadrature (qu1,qu2), referred as double family scheme. The scheme is applicable to solve the elliptic pressure equation used in reservoir simulation. Schemes are applicable on both regular cartesian and unstructured triangular meshes. The scheme is defined over a control-volume distributed formulation. The scheme can be applied to both diagonal and full permeability tensor elliptic pressure equation with discontinuous coefficients. The scheme removes the first order errors, which are introduced by standard reservoir simulation schemes when applied to full tensor flow. The scheme is quantified with help of a quadrature rule. When the scheme is applied to highly heterogeneous and anisotropic porous media it does not honor maximum principle resulting in unstable solution with oscillatory behavior. The numerical solution is termed non-monotonicity for high anisotropy ratios with results showing oscillations in the numerical pressure solution. In this paper a double (qu1,qu2) quadrature flux continuous schemes is presented, which with specific choice of quadrature (qu1,qu2) helps in improved stability of the numerical solutions. Numerical convergence of the scheme is also demonstrated with help of a number of numerical test cases and schemes impact on monotonicity behavior is also demonstrated with numerical examples

Design and noise-reduction simulation of an acoustic metamaterial plate incorporating tunable shape memory cantilever absorbers

    Get PDF
Metamaterials are materials having artificially tailored internal structure and unusual physical and mechanical properties. Due to their unique characteristics, metamaterials possess great potential in engineering applications. This study proposes a tunable metamaterial for the applications in acoustic isolation. Therefore, a stopband in the dispersion curve can be created because of the energy gap. For the conventional metamaterial, the stopband is fixed. Although the metamaterial with tunable characteristics has been proposed in the literature to extend its working stopband, the efficacy is usually compromised. In this study, cantilevers of tunable shape memory materials (SMM) via controlled phase transformation are incorporated into the metamaterial plate. Its theoretical finite element formulation for determining the dynamic characteristics is established. The effect of the configuration of the SMM cantilever absorbers on the metamaterial plate for the desired stopband in wave propagation is simulated by using finite element model and a commercial multi-physics software. The result demonstrates the tunable capability on the stopband of the metamaterial plate under different activation controls of the SMM absorbers, and shows the ability to trap the vibration at the designed frequency and prevent vibration wave from propagating downstream in different absorber arrangements and alloy phases. It should be beneficial to precision machinery and defense industries which have desperate need in vibration and noise isolation

Effect of warp and weft uniaxial tension on the permeability of sand covered with geotextile

    Get PDF
The permeability of sand covered with geotextile is affected by the permeability of geotextile, which is related to the tensile state of the geotextile. Considering the weaving mode of geotextile, the effects of warp tension and weft tension on the permeability of sand covered with geotextile were studied by experiment. Four different specifications of geotextiles were selected for warp and weft tension respectively. The changes of permeability parameters of sand covered with geotextile under non tension, warp and weft tension were measured by vertical permeability instrument, and the effects of warp and weft tension on permeability parameters such as seepage velocity, sand loss and gradient ratio were analyzed. The test results show that the water permeability and anti silting performance of the geotextile increase with the increase of tensile strain, and the soil conservation performance decreases with the tensile strain increasing. Meanwhile, the relationship between permeability and warp tensile strain is not monotonic. When the warp tensile strain 3%, the water permeability and anti silting performance of geotextile are the weakest, and the soil conservation performance is the strongest

Analysis of electromagnetic vibration and noise of permanent magnet synchronous motor based on field-circuit coupling

    Get PDF
In order to study the influence of harmonics on the vibration and noise of permanent magnet synchronous motor, this paper introduces an analysis method based on field-circuit coupling, and establishes a complete analysis process from the control strategy to the vibration and noise response of the motor. Firstly, the coupling model including control strategy, main circuit model and electromagnetic field model is established. Secondly, the finite element model of the permanent magnet synchronous motor under the influence of coupling is established to analyze and compare the electromagnetic force wave characteristics of the coupling excitation and the sinusoidal excitation. Then, the coupled electromagnetic force is loaded into the structural field to simulate and calculate the vibration and noise. Finally, the effectiveness of the model is verified through experimental sound pressure level comparison under steady-state and speed-up conditions, and it provides a reference for vibration and noise prediction of the motor system
