Transnational Colonial Fantasies: Ambivalence, Identity, and the 'Exotic Other' in German, African, and American Contexts in, “Geschichte eines Hottentotten von ihm selbst erzahlt” (1773) by Christian Ludwig Willebrand

This paper explores Christian Ludwig Willebrand's Geschichte eines Hottentotten, von ihm selbst erzählt (1773) within the transnational colonial context of 18th-century German and African and American relations. The analysis uses Homi Bhabha’s theories of mimicry and ambivalence and Susanne Zantop's concept of “colonial fantasies” to interrogate the portrayal of Kori, a biracial protagonist, as an emblem of colonial tensions between identity, power, and race. This essay shows how internalized colonial ideologies and mimicry establish hierarchies among the colonized while disrupting colonial binaries. Moreover, it positions Willebrand’s novel an important but complicit text in the colonial imagination while simultaneously offering a structural and psychological dynamic of the 18th-century colonial discourse. In sum, the essay engages with the German colonial ambitions toward Africa and the racial dynamics of the Americas, while reflecting a broader colonial ideology

The study aims to reveal the reality of perceptions of values, moral leadership, and organizational commitment among teachers in Jerusalem schools, as well as examining the construction of a proposed model for this relation. To achieve this, the descriptive correlational approach was used, through a cross-sectional design, as one of the quantitative methods that uses correlation analysis and the structural model, to verify the relationships between variables, through a questionnaire that includes the three study measures, through a sample that included 366 male and female teachers, chosen by the stratified method. Random. The results of the study show that the reality of perceptions of values, ethical leadership, and organizational commitment, from the point of view of Jerusalem school teachers, was at a high degree. The results also show that there is a direct effect between ethical leadership on the one hand and both: (perceptions of values and organizational commitment), and also the presence of a direct effect between Perceptions of values and organizational commitment. The value of the indirect effect of ethical leadership on organizational commitment came in the presence of perceptions of values, which means that there is an effect of the mediating variable, perceptions of values, on the relationship between ethical leadership and organizational commitment

Demotivation is a significant concern for foreign and second language researchers, as it has a direct impact on the academic success of students at various educational levels, including primary, high school, and university. This study aimed to explore the demotivation factors that affect English language learning among EFL students at Jawzjan University, as well as to identify strategies for re-motivating these learners. The study employed a qualitative approach, and an open-ended interview question was conducted to collect data. The findings revealed several demotivating factors that have a negative influence on learners, including a lack of information about the dominance of the English language, insufficient support from teachers and family, economic challenges, an excessive focus on nonprofessional courses, the use of local languages in English classes, and a lack of opportunities to practice English outside the classroom. Based on the findings, the study suggests that English teachers should pay attention to their feedback, incorporate audiovisual materials into their teaching, and consider the students' interests and proficiency levels when selecting teaching materials

Background: Maternal inoculation is the most effective way to combat COVID-19, reducing morbidity in pregnant women and newborns. This study focused on investigating the factors influencing COVID-19 inoculation adherence among pregnant women in a government hospital in Paranaque City, Philippines. Research Method: Conducted through a descriptive-correlational research design involving 245 randomly selected pregnant women, the study employed three researcher-made questionnaires to gather data on contextual factors, vaccination determinants, and adherence to COVID-19 inoculation. Results: The findings revealed that most of the respondents were between 20 and 30 years old, Roman Catholic, Tagalog-speaking, unemployed, with a secondary education, expecting their first child, and without any existing medical illnesses. The study reported a very high level of adherence to COVID-19 vaccination among the pregnant women. There was a significant difference in the respondent’s adherence to COVID-19 inoculation and medical illness. The study identified a significant relationship between social factors and adherence to COVID-19 inoculation as to self-efficacy, confidence, convenience, and complacency in pregnant women. Furthermore, the study determined that only medical illnesses and social factors predicted adherence to vaccination. Conclusion: The study highlighted the crucial role of community and healthcare support in promoting vaccination acceptance among pregnant women, emphasizing effective communication about vaccine safety and efficacy. Additionally, it underscored the need for targeted interventions addressing health concerns and hesitancy to bolster vaccination rates. Future research is recommended to corroborate strategies to encourage widespread vaccine uptake and ensure maternal and neonatal well-being providing valuable insights for healthcare workers and policymakers

This study utilized an analytical-statistical strategy. The main goal of this research is to show how much the process of creating textbooks and additional instructional materials is used in Afghanistan's academic system. The results of this analysis suggest that the year 2020-2021 has the fewest registered themes for authoring in comparison to previous years. There is a distinct 30% disparity between the year 2019-2020 and the preceding year. While the quantity of produced works thus far may not be substantial, it is a significant advancement in enhancing the materials and resources available for research inside the academic system of the country. This study focuses on the process of creating textbooks and educational materials in Afghanistan's higher education institutions. It aims to explore how these institutions utilize freshly acquired works and research from other languages to enhance their academic resources and materials. The production of textbooks at Afghanistan's higher education institutions has significantly declined in 2020 compared to the 1990s

Pastoralists Health and Public Health Threat in Ghana

Pastoralists move their livestock from pasture to pasture following traditional and historic patterns to move towards available forage for their livestock. The availability of pastures is influenced by the seasons and climate change that dictate the distance of movement of pastoralists; it could be cross-regional or cross-country movement. In a unique public health survey, a large sample of these pastoral nomads in Ghana were interviewed in eleven districts in Ghana. The data was collected mainly through interviews, case studies, and reviews of records of nomads in some selected health facilities. Several clear findings emerge including that: (a) these pastoralists have little engagement or trust with public health, (b) commonly engage the public health sector only as a last resort typically when diseases are in an advanced stage, (c) have a very low awareness of public health practices towards disease awareness, avoidance and treatment, (d) have poor access to public health services and (e) typically consume animals that are known to transmit zoonotic diseases from animals to humans. This means that this population is a relatively sick population and carries untreated diseases. In their engagement with the general populations, they would be expected to transmit these diseases to the general population and could be the source of new disease threats, such as, what emerged with COVID-19. It is encouraged that specific strategies be developed to engage this population to improve health conduct and behavior including sensitizing them to the dangers from contracting zoonotic diseases. While this study focuses only on pastoralists in Ghana, it is likely that other pastoral communities in Africa present similar public health challenges

The purpose of this paper is to look at the historic roles that women played in England's industrial revolution. This article discusses specific issues pertaining to women, such as their employment status, economic circumstances, variety of roles they play, and effects of the industrial revolution on their status. These themes include the roles that women played in the revolution, the direction of economic development, the various roles that women played in it, and the consequences of the revolution—particularly those that affected women. In terms of social stratification, the industrial revolution reduced economic and social inequality and gave different social classes better chances depending on the degree of social mobility in industrialized nations compared to traditional societies. In addition, there was a notable improvement in the degree of social, political, and economic participation of the population in comparison to the pre-revolutionary period. Women were able to attain economic independence by working in industry and taking care of their families. However, this also led to a lot of responsibilities, which made things difficult for women because of their low pay. This study used an analytical historical technique and was written in a descriptive style. It used local and worldwide works about women in addition to primary and secondary historical materials.
