Investigating the Problems of Letters-Based Pronunciation
Letters (alphabet) are important elements of writing and pronunciation in many languages around the world. In the English language, letters are useful only for writing, but in pronunciation, they're more problematic. There are a lot of exceptions in English spelling. The letters and their pronunciations are not fixed and do not match. This confuses foreign learners and speakers of the English language when they pronounce words based on letters. The data for this article was collected after reading and analyzing updated books and articles from reliable sources like libraries and internet sites. It is noteworthy that a descriptive-analytical method is used in this research. Since there is no research with the same title and subject, it can be interesting and useful work for those who want to study in this field. The current article discusses the problems that arise from letter-based pronunciation by considering the consequences between letters and sounds, some exceptions in letters or spelling, and inflectional morphemes

A Walk Down Memory Lane: Racial Injustice in Lewis Nkosi’s Mating Birds
Using as a stepping stone Mating Birds by the late South African novelist Lewis Nkosi, I take a trip down memory lane to grapple with the issue of justice in apartheid era South Africa. The paper argues that the scales of the judiciary under the system of institutionalized racism was heavily weighted in favour of the white minority who ruled the roost in South Africa from 1948 to the early 1990s. Underpinned by a racist ideology that foregrounded the supposed purity of Afrikanerdom, the steamroller of the judicial system under apartheid denied any rights to South African blacks and coloured alike to the point of forefending love across the colour bar. The lead character in Mating Birds, to wit Sibiya, knows only too well the strictures of an unfair administration of justice. Sentenced to death by hanging for allegedly raping a white girl, his dogged impassioned denials fails to pack a punch as the laws of his country make it a crime for a black man to even have designs (no matter how sincere) on a white girl. Tapping into a methodology based on philosophical, sociological, psychoanalytic, psychological perspectives, the paper brings to light the multifaceted cruelty of race-spiked injustice as evidenced by Sidiya’s plight

STATUS AND PROBLEMS OF THE STREET VENDORS: INPUTS FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT PLANNING
The inability of street vendors to obtain permanent employment in the lucrative formal sector is due to their lack of expertise and training in the profession. With the limited money they have available, they try to solve their financial concerns. This study aimed to determine the status and problems encountered by street vendors. The survey included 101 street sellers in total, and the results showed that they had 4-6 family members, a daily salary of P500 or less, and had been street vendors for at least 6 years. Frege’s Theory of Proper Names
Gottlob Frege, in order to explain the relationship between language and reality, believes that in addition to the subjective meaning and external reference of words, related to the words and signs in their entirety, there is also a third thing that expresses how the words designate or stand for external references. Frege calls this third phenomenon the sense of words. Sense is the mode of presentation of reference which is designated by a proper name. Sense contrary to meaning, which is subjective and personal, is an objective and external matter that everyone can enjoy or access to it. Frege’s theory will be examined in this article with the aim of showing how the theory is incomplete. Besides the fact that there is an inconsistency in his view concerning the nature of meaning (Frege considers sense sometimes objective and on other occasions something imaginary.), his argument to prove the objectivity of sense is unsuccessful. Even if we accept his assumption of the objectivity of sense, Frege cannot drive the problem of psychologism out of the path of human knowledge. That is, Frege fails to achieve its original objective; proving that psychologism is wrong
FACULTY, STUDENTS, AND PARENTS SATISFACTION WITH FLEXIBLE LEARNING IMPLEMENTATION IN A STATE-FUNDED UNIVERSITY
Learner satisfaction and experience have a big impact on how well and how widely distant learning is accepted in higher education institutions. This study used a quantitative research methodology with the use of adapted standardized questionnaires from several sources to find out how satisfied 173 faculty members, 548 students, and 321 parents were with the deployment of flexible learning modes throughout the pandemic years. The frequency count, percent, and mean statistical techniques were used to total the scores, tabulate them, and conduct further analysis and interpretation. The faculty, students, and parents were generally satisfied in terms of the online learning modality. The faculty perceived the online teaching process as efficient, effective, and beneficial for both students and faculty. The students believed that the online learning was 'satisfactory' in acquiring knowledge, while the parents believed that the online learning aided their children's learning. On the other hand, the faculty and students were satisfied with modular learning, while the parents were dissatisfied. The faculty found modular learning to be one of the ways to aid teaching during the pandemic. The students believed that the distribution and retrieval of modules were organized, the time allotment was acceptable, and safety and health protocols were ensured. The parents found that distribution and retrieval of modules are not well organized, and the orientation as to the use of modules during distribution is not clearly explained. A training workshop may be conducted for the faculty to repackage and revise the modules to ensure that enough and adequate time is allotted to each activity or assessment, to ensure that the learning activities and assessments adhere to complexity, timeliness, relevance, and alignment to the learning outcomes, and to structure and plan the course online, upload pictures, images, and videos on the chosen platform, attach links, use Google Forms, and engage in other computer-aided games and activities. The guidelines and procedures for the distribution and retrieval of the modules may be disseminated to parents and other stakeholders through brochures and flyers. Moreover, the administration may allot funds to provide internet connectivity to students who choose online learning modes, such as free cell cards, or form partnerships with LGUs and NTC to create a free Wi-Fi connection at a specific location in each barangay.
