    Get PDF
Afghanistan ratified the CEDAW accord without any conditions in 2003 after the deal was formally recognized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1980. According to the Vienna Agreement; countries can impose restrictions on United Nations resolutions that contradict domestic laws. The Afghan government has decided not to step in, despite the fact that there is a clash between the CEDAW Convention and the Afghan legal system, particularly the Civil Code. The parties to the CEDAW Convention remove from their legal systems any clauses that restrict gender equality as specified by the convention. This article compares and contrasts the rights and obligations regarding marriage, divorce, inheritance, guardianship, custody, and proclamation found in the Afghan Civil Code with Article 16 of the CEDAW Convention

Research on teaching quality in universities is one of the most important issues that provide valuable feedback for analyzing educational issues, making critical decisions, and strategic planning for educational authorities and practitioners. On the other hand, with knowledge of their own performance quality during teaching, instructors will be able to improve teaching methods and approaches, thus enhancing the quality of their teaching. The aim of this research is to assess the teaching quality at the Faculty of Education in Bamyan University. In this study, a sample of 283 students from the Faculty of Education was selected using the Four-Multiplier Cochran technique, which employed a convenience sampling method. The Rasouli Teaching Quality Questionnaire (2010) was used to collect the data, which has good validity (0.8) and reliability. It consists of 28 Likert-scale items ranging from "very low" to "very high" and is composed of dimensions such as subject mastery, lesson planning and design, guidance and counseling, communication skills, ethical considerations, and classroom management. This research is a descriptive-survey study with practical applications based on its results. It has a foreign background, and among them, Piry Mohammad study conducted in 2018 at Malayer University in Iran titled "Satisfaction with the Quality of University Teaching," Arzo Mohammadi and colleagues' study in 2015 at Tehran University of Medical Sciences titled "Teaching Quality and its Relationship with Academic Motivation," and Hermz Seynai Nasab and colleagues' study in 2019 at Shahid Modarres University titled "Investigating the Quality of Teaching from the Perspective of Students" can be mentioned. The findings of this research indicate that the teaching quality at the Faculty of Education in Bamyan University is at a desirable level, SPSS21 software was used for data analysis, and a one-sample t-test was employed to analyze the research questions

    Get PDF
Functional food farming and vegetable production in particular offer an economic opportunity as they generate income for the farmers and people in areas where these kinds of products are cultivated. This study assesses the contribution of functional food to the farmers’ socioeconomic well-being in Rwanda with a focus on carrot farmers in the Nyabihu district, Rwanda. The study is descriptive with a mixed approach of both quantitative and qualitative methods with a target population of 170 carrot farmers from whom a sample size of 119 respondents was selected. Data were collected using a questionnaire and interview and analysed using descriptive statistics.  The findings reveal that carrot farming generates income and employment opportunities for rural farmers and people in the area, which in turn permits them to meet their various daily expenses and improves their health conditions. Functional food farmers also face some challenges which include shortage of farming land, pests and diseases, soil erosion and landslides and unstable prices of input amongst others. However, land consolidation, spraying crops against diseases, and provision of loans are among the measures to address such challenges. Different stakeholders including the government, the private sector and NGOs should work in synergy to create a favorable and enabling environment that supports people in rural areas to fully participate in functional food farming

Communication apprehension is an uneasiness experienced by all individuals, especially when speaking. Meanwhile, coping strategies are approaches people use in dealing with anxiety. This study determined the level of communication apprehension and coping strategies of the BSED-English major students of the College of Education (CED), Jose Rizal Memorial State University-Tampilisan Campus. The researchers used the descriptive survey method utilizing the survey-questionnaire checklists. The first instrument was adopted from McCroskey's (1981) cited in Diane (2015) Personal Report of Communication Apprehension 24 (PRCA-24). The other one is the validated researchers-made survey statements comprising 30-item statements categorized as strategies for overcoming communication apprehension in group discussions, meetings, interpersonal conversation, and public speaking, with a Cronbach's alpha value of >0.70. The researchers also adopted McCroskey and Richmond's coding and scoring system, weighted mean, and frequency count. Results show that most of the English major students in JRMSU-TC have a moderate level of communication apprehension. Further, there is a difference in the level of communication apprehension when grouped according to group discussion, meetings, interpersonal communication, and public speaking, as well as in the overall weighted mean. Therefore, there is a difference in the level of communication apprehension of the BSED English major students when grouped according to year level. In terms of coping strategies, students used the following strategies: accepting cultural differences, paying attention when talking to others and considering their cultural views, thoroughly preparing before the speech, and thinking of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation as a reward. In this connection, there are proposed interactive activities that may help overcome the students' communication apprehension

Exploring the Dimensions of Religious Freedom: A Global and Comparative Analysis

Religion constitutes a fundamental aspect of the cultural and spiritual lives of individuals globally, encompassing an array of traditions, rituals, and practices. Within the context of liberal democracy's evolution, religion emerges as a critical element of political liberty and personal conscience. On an international scale, the right to religious freedom has been established as a core human right, essential for the sustenance of democratic governance. Despite its recognition, the right to religious liberty remains a highly contentious issue. Even in democracies that provide constitutional protections for religious freedom, debates persist regarding the extensive interpretation and implementation of this right, particularly concerning the rights of religious minorities within these nations. This study explores the concept of religious freedom as a globally recognized right, examining its representation and interpretation across various international and regional legal frameworks. Through this analysis, the paper endeavors to provide a comprehensive overview of religious freedom on both a global and regional scale. Furthermore, it delves into the state of religious freedom in various political systems, ranging from democracies such as United States to theocracies and monarchies like the United Kingdom and countries characterized by a strict demarcation between religion and state affairs, exemplified by France's secularist approach

Art as a Window to Emotions: A Study on the Impact of Conflict on Children's Drawings

    Get PDF
This research investigates how students from two different backgrounds in a conflict-affected area—one group being internally displaced (IDP) and the other residing in permanent homes—express their emotions through art. The study aims to understand the emotional experiences of these students and explore the potential therapeutic benefits of art for children in conflict-affected areas. Two experiments were conducted: in the first, students drew freely without specific instructions; in the second, they were asked to express their emotions through their drawings and provide reasons for their choices. In the first experiment, students mostly used dark and dull colors, suggesting feelings of sadness and anxiety. In the second experiment, IDP students used vibrant colors reflecting resilience, while town students used monochromatic shades likely due to their recent experiences with conflict. Living conditions and recent traumatic events significantly influence the emotional expressions in students' artwork. Art-based interventions can be tailored to address their unique emotional needs
