Integrasi Rasionalitas dan Moralitas dalam Pemikiran Pendidikan Al-Farabi: Relevansinya terhadap Pendidikan Islam Kontemporer
This study explores al-Farabi’s educational thought and its relevance to contemporary Islamic education. Al-Farabi views education as a means to achieve human perfection (al-sa’ādah al-quṣwā) through the balanced development of rational, moral, and spiritual faculties. Employing a library research method with content analysis, this study examines primary sources such as Ara’ Ahl al-Madinah al-Fadilah and Kitab al-Tanbih ‘ala Sabil al-Sa’adah, alongside secondary literature discussing al-Farabi’s philosophical and pedagogical ideas. The findings reveal that al-Farabi emphasizes the integration of reason and virtue as the foundation of education, positioning the teacher as both a moral and intellectual guide. His concept of the “Active Intellect” (al-‘aql al-fa’āl) offers an epistemological framework that connects knowledge acquisition with spiritual elevation. These ideas remain highly relevant for modern Islamic education in addressing moral, intellectual, and spiritual challenges in the era of globalization
Community Preparedness Behavior of Air Manis Subdistrict, Padang City in Facing Earthquake Disasters
Education on earthquake disasters plays a role in providing the community with basic knowledge about what should be done before, during, and after an earthquake occurs. This study aims to describe the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of the community in facing earthquake disasters. The research was conducted in Air Manis sub-district, Padang city. This study employed a survey design with a quantitative approach and used a Likert scale as the measurement instrument. Data analysis techniques were carried out using SPSS software. The results showed that the majority of the community’s cognitive level regarding earthquake disasters fell into the high category with a percentage of 59.1%, the affective level of the majority was in the very high category with a percentage of 89.8%, and the psychomotor level of the majority was also in the very high category with a percentage of 83%. These findings indicate that the majority of the Air Manis community in Padang city has a very good level of preparedness in earthquake disaster mitigation. Nevertheless, continuous education programs, simulations, and training are still needed to ensure that the community’s knowledge, attitudes, and skills do not decline and become more evenly distributed
Curriculum Design for TEFL/EFL in Indonesia: Navigating the Merdeka Curriculum Reform and National Education Standards: A Literature-Based Study
Lately, education in Indonesia has been getting a big shake-up from the Merdeka Curriculum reform, which really pushes for more flexibility, teaching that focuses on students, and assessments based on what they can actually do. This change hits hard for TEFL/EFL curriculum planning, needing to match up with national standards while dealing with what's really happening in classrooms. But from what the research shows, there's this ongoing struggle: lots of teachers and schools get the idea of the reform, yet putting it into action often falls short. For instance, studies point out that even though most schools say they understand the Merdeka Curriculum clearly, things like not enough teacher training and limited resources get in the way of real progress (Sephiawardani & Bektiningsih, 2023; Andika & Yulia, 2025). Other work highlights how English teachers, despite being eager, have trouble tweaking assessments, planning lessons that suit different kids, and creating materials that fit the local scene (Karimatunisa & Sartika, 2024; Andika & Yulia, 2025). This review of the literature aims to chart out how recent studies (2021–2025) describe TEFL/EFL curriculum design amid these changes, spot the big gaps, and suggest ways forward for better curriculum development. From what we've pulled together, things like teacher training, ongoing help, and better ways to turn policies into classroom reality are key to closing the gap between the reform's goals and what's actually happening in schools
A critical review of TikTok’s role in motivating Indonesian students to learn foreign languages
This critical literature review examines the impact of TikTok usage on motivation and foreign language learning outcomes among students in Indonesia. Through an analysis of 26 relevant articles from reputable sources, the review reveals that TikTok has a positive effect on student engagement and foreign language acquisition, particularly in vocabulary, pronunciation, and speaking skills. The platform’s interactive short videos, diverse educational content, and the involvement of content creators are key factors contributing to its effectiveness as a learning tool. However, challenges such as potential distractions, varying content quality, and limitations in video length must be addressed. To enhance TikTok’s educational value, it is recommended that educators and content creators collaborate, providing strategic guidance to optimize learning outcomes. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating TikTok into foreign language learning in a more innovative and flexible manner
Analisis kritis konsep tsiqah dalam ilmu hadis sebagai fondasi pendidikan karakter Islami
This research critically examines the concept of tsiqah in hadith science and its relevance as an essential foundation for Islamic character education. In the modern era, the urgency of fostering individuals with integrity and credibility has become vital. In the Islamic tradition, the validity of hadith heavily relies on tsiqah, which encompasses two main pillars: ‘adalah (moral integrity, honesty) and dhabt (accuracy, meticulousness). Utilizing a qualitative approach and library research, this study analyzes classical hadith literature and Islamic character education studies. It finds that the values inherent in tsiqah, such as honesty, trustworthiness, meticulousness, and responsibility, are not only relevant for hadith authentication but also form the core of Islamic character. This concept offers a rich pedagogical framework, where the figure of a tsiqah narrator can serve as a role model, and the principles of hadith verification can be adapted into learning methods that cultivate critical, responsible, and credible character in students. Thus, this research concludes that tsiqah is a solid foundation for shaping Muslim individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also possess moral integrity and can be trusted within society
Students’ Learning Motivation: An Experimental Study of the 7E Learning Cycle Instructional Model
This study examines the effectiveness of the Learning Cycle 7E instructional model in enhancing learners’ motivation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), specifically on the topic “Emulating the Role of Ulama in Spreading Islamic Teachings in Indonesia” at SMK Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung. The research was conducted in response to the low internal drive of learners, which was associated with lecture-dominated instruction and limited interactive learning media. A quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design was employed, involving two randomly selected classes: one experimental group taught using the Learning Cycle 7E model and one control group taught through conventional methods. The instrument utilized was a validated and reliable motivation questionnaire (α = 0.876). Although Hamzah B. Uno identifies six dimensions of learning motivation, this study focused exclusively on the dimension of learning drive and needs, as it corresponds directly with the objective of analyzing students’ internal impulses and perceived necessity to learn during the application of the 7E model. Restricting the measurement to this single dimension enabled a more precise and in-depth examination of internal motivation. The t-test results revealed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05), demonstrating that the Learning Cycle 7E model effectively increased learners’ motivation, particularly in internal drive and learning needs. The study contributes novelty by implementing the 7E model within vocational-level religious education, offering an innovative and interactive approach to support meaningful and sustainable learning
Influence of Adversity Quotient on Academic Stress among 2022 PAI Students at UIN Raden Intan Lampung
This study aims to examine the effect of Adversity Quotient (AQ) on academic stress among 2022 cohort students of the Islamic Education Study Program (PAI) during the completion of their final project at UIN Raden Intan Lampung. Academic stress is defined as physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral pressure resulting from academic demands, whereas AQ reflects students’ ability to face difficulties and endure stress. The study was conducted in the odd semester of 2025/2026 with a population of 388 students and a sample of 79 respondents selected using simple random sampling based on Slovin’s formula. The instrument was a 30-item Likert-scale questionnaire, which was validated and reliable (Cronbach’s Alpha: AQ = 0.965; academic stress = 0.975). Data were analyzed using simple linear regression after confirming normality and linearity assumptions. Results indicate that AQ has a significant negative effect on academic stress (t = –11.519; p = 0.000), with a strong relationship (R = 0.795) and 63.3% of stress variation explained by AQ. Students with higher AQ are better able to self-regulate, handle pressure, and employ adaptive coping strategies. The findings underscore the importance of enhancing AQ through mentoring, problem-solving training, and resilience-based counseling to reduce academic stress
Aktualisasi Civic Engagement Melalui Pelayanan Kesehatan di Rumah Sakit PKU Muhammadiyah Karanganyar
The low level of patient satisfaction with healthcare services, especially in hospitals, indicates that civic engagement has not been fully implemented. This study aims to explore the actualization of civic engagement and identify the obstacles faced by medical records staff in healthcare services at PKU Muhammadiyah Karanganyar Hospital. This research is motivated by the low level of patient satisfaction with the healthcare services the community receives at the hospital. The method used in this study is a qualitative case study approach to obtain relevant data. Field findings indicate that the implementation of civic engagement at PKU Muhammadiyah Karanganyar Hospital is still limited. The role of the hospital director is crucial in encouraging the implementation of this principle. Some obstacles to this actualization include limited access to the technology used and limited access to health information. Therefore, the hospital director and his staff need to provide motivation and direct role models for hospital staff
Peran Orang Tua dalam Meningkatkan Motivasi Menghafal Al-Quran Santri di Rumah Tahfidz Thoriqul Quran Samarinda
Parents are the primary educators and have a significant impact on building children’s love for the Qur’an from an early age. Their motivation becomes a psychological support that helps students overcome obstacles in maintaining and improving their memorization. This research aims to explore the parental role along with the supporting and inhibiting factors experienced by parents in motivating students at Qur’anic memorization house of Thoriqul Qur’an Samarinda. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using role and motivation theory. The results show that parents contribute to enhancing children’s motivation through roles as educators, motivators, role models, counselors, supervisors, and facilitators. Encouragement, Qur’anic habits at home, advice, rewards, and supervision positively influence memorization, although role-modeling in memorization is not yet optimal. Supporting factors include aspirations for pious children, good religious understanding, and adequate economy, while barriers include economic hardship and an unsupportive environment
Epistemologi Fungsional C.A. van Peursen: Rekonstruksi Makna Ilmu di Tengah Krisis Objektivitas Modern
The crisis of objectivity in modern science reveals a profound epistemological problem in which scientific rationality becomes detached from ethical and human dimensions. Science, which was originally intended to liberate humanity, has often turned into a technocratic instrument that alienates it. This article aims to reconstruct the meaning of science through the perspective of C.A. van Peursen’s functional epistemology as a philosophical response to the modern crisis of objectivity. The study employs a qualitative approach using a philosophical-hermeneutic analysis to interpret Van Peursen’s ideas within the broader context of culture and contemporary knowledge dynamics. Data were collected from Van Peursen’s primary works and relevant secondary sources, then analyzed through three stages: descriptive-conceptual mapping, critical analysis, and philosophical reconstruction. The findings indicate that Van Peursen’s functional epistemology positions science as a dynamic and value-laden cultural strategy rather than a value-free system. Science is not merely a tool for empirical verification but also a means of restoring human meaning and moral purpose. The study contributes to developing a more humanistic, dialogical, and context-sensitive philosophy of science that integrates scientific rationality, local wisdom, and ethical responsibility within the Indonesian intellectual landscape
