Captivating. Profiling the concept of FEMININITY in Catholic online discourse based on the work of Ewelina Chełstowska
No full textTematem artykułu jest konceptualizacja kobiecości w polskim katolickim dyskursie internetowym na przykładzie twórczości Eweliny Chełstowskiej. W badaniu wykorzystano koncepcję dyskursywnego obrazu świata (DOŚ) oraz językowego obrazu świata (JOŚ). Analizy materiału źródłowego dokonano za pomocą techniki profilowania pojęć. Przedmiotem badania były wpisy zamieszczane przez Chełstowską w mediach społecznościowych, a także treści publikowane przez nią w aplikacji mobilnej „Klub Urzekającej”. W artykule zaprezentowano rekonstrukcję pięciu profili pojęcia kobiecość: kobiecość jako ogród, kobiecość jako misja, kobieta jako dawczyni i obrończyni życia, kobieta jako Córka Króla, kobieta jako istota dbająca o wygląd. Zasadność podjętych badań potwierdzana jest przez niesłabnącą popularność tematów dotyczących płci, podejmowanych w debacie publicznej, ale także stopień polaryzacji towarzyszący tym dyskusjom.This article discusses the conceptualisation of FEMININITY in Polish Catholic online discourse based on the work of Ewelina Chełstowska. The study draws on the idea of discursive worldview and linguistic worldview. The source material was analysed using the method of concept profiling. The research focused on Chełstowska’s social media posts and content published by her in the mobile app “Klub Urzekającej” (‘The Captivating Club’). The article presents a reconstruction of five profiles of the concept of FEMININITY: FEMININITY as a garden, FEMININITY as a mission, woman as a giver and guardian of life, woman as the King’s Daughter, woman as a being who cares about her appearance. The relevance of the research is supported by the continued popularity of gender issues in public debate, as well as the degree of polarisation observed in these discussions

No full textDzięki rozwojowi algorytmów sztucznej inteligencji możliwe jest generowanie scenariuszy filmowych, efektów specjalnych oraz innych elementów warstwy wizualnej, a nawet krótkich sekwencji filmowych. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie, jak w obrębie istniejących gatunków wykorzystuje się narzędzia sztucznej inteligencji. W tekście opisano, w jaki sposób technologia ta wpływa na kształt warstwy fabularnej, wizualnej i montażowej oraz ostateczny odbiór filmu. Jednym z możliwych aspektów odbiorczych jest efekt doliny niesamowitości polegający na tym, że wygenerowana komputerowo obsada, nie dość realistyczna, wywołuje niepokój u widzów. Bazując na obecnych tendencjach, autorka publikacji przewiduje, jakie nowe konwencje mogą się pojawić dzięki zastosowaniu sztucznej inteligencji. Na podstawie analizy możliwości, jakie dają narzędzia AI, zostały przedstawione również pozytywne i negatywne skutki wprowadzenia algorytmów do przemysłu filmowego.Owing to the development of artificial intelligence algorithms, it is now possible to generate film scripts, special effects, visuals, and even short film sequences. The aim of this article is to present how existing genres apply AI-generated tools in film production. The article also describes how AI-generated films employ new tools for storytelling and how these technologies impact the narrative, visuals, and editing aspects of films, as well as how viewers may perceive them. One such reaction is the uncanny valley effect, wherein the generated cast is not realistic enough, causing discomfort among the audience. Based on current trends, the author predicts new conventions that may emerge due to the application of AI technology. Through an analysis of the possibilities afforded by these new tools, both the positive and negative consequences of introducing AI algorithms into the film industry are presented

No full textAutor analizuje wpływ globalnych platform streamingowych na model autorstwa seriali telewizyjnych w Hiszpanii i Polsce. W obu krajach obserwuje się dynamiczny wzrost nakładów na produkcję audiowizualną, przekraczający średnią europejską. W Hiszpanii, gdzie Netflix stworzył największy hub produkcyjny w Europie, wdrożenie modelu showrunnerskiego przekształciło lokalne praktyki produkcyjne. W Polsce, mimo wciąż dominującej kinematografii reżyserskiej, rozwój rynku streamingowego zmienił kulturę pracy i organizację produkcji. Autor omawia też trudności z adaptacją modelu showrunnerskiego, w tym marginalizację roli scenarzystów w Polsce oraz ograniczony wpływ hiszpańskich showrunnerów na decyzje budżetowe.The article examines the impact of global streaming platforms such as Netflix on the authorship model of television series in Spain and Poland. Both countries have experienced a dynamic increase in audiovisual production investment, exceeding the European average. In Spain, where Netflix has established its largest production hub in Europe, the adoption of the showrunner model has influenced local production practices. In Poland, despite the dominance of a director-centred cinematic tradition, the streaming market’s growth has led to changes in work culture and production organisation. The article also addresses challenges in adapting the showrunner model, including the marginalisation of screenwriters in Poland and the limited influence of Spanish showrunners on budgeting

The Phonic Syntax of the Image: On the Première of <i>Warszawianka</i>

Focusing on two central motifs from the play and its staging – the song La Varsovienne and the image of the Empire-style salon – the author proposes their integration within the concept of sound-based scenography. The discussion draws on a detailed analysis of the play and contemporary reviews, while also engaging with the scholarly history of Warszawianka’s reception and current research into theatre and sound
The strategic position of the islands as military bases and platforms for military and political power projection
No full textFor centuries, islands have played an important role in military conflicts, being strategic points on sea lanes, places to host troops and areas of competition for natural resources. The aim of this article is to synthesize the geopolitical and military significance of islands throughout history, taking into account their role in past, present and potential conflicts. Historical examples such as the battles for islands in the Mediterranean, Atlantic or Pacific during the Second World War make it clear that islands influenced the fate of wars. Contemporary examples are also presented, such as the territorial disputes in the South China Sea, where islands have become a key element in the competition for regional influence and natural resources. The importance of key military bases located on islands is also characterized. The article analyses future challenges and threats and the importance of the islands in the context of new military technologies, such as missile defense systems and drones. The analysis presented indicates that islands will continue to play a strategic role in armed conflicts, both as objects of competition for territorial control and as important operational points in global security strategies. Despite advances in military technology, these 'unsinkable aircraft carriers' will be an important part of the power projection of modern superpowers.Wyspy od wieków odgrywały istotną rolę w konfliktach zbrojnych, będąc strategicznymi punktami na szlakach morskich, miejscami stacjonowania wojsk oraz obszarami rywalizacji o surowce naturalne. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest syntetyczna charakterystyka militarnego i geopolitycznego znaczenia wysp na przestrzeni dziejów, z uwzględnieniem ich roli w przeszłych, współczesnych i potencjalnych konfliktach. Przykłady historyczne, takie jak bitwy o wyspy na Morzu Śródziemnym, Atlantyku czy Pacyfiku podczas II wojny światowej jasno wskazują, że wyspy wpływały na losy wojen. Przedstawiono także współczesne przykłady, takie jak spory terytorialne na Morzu Południowochińskim, gdzie wyspy stały się kluczowym elementem rywalizacji o wpływy regionalne oraz zasoby naturalne. Scharakteryzowano znaczenie najważniejszych baz wojskowych położonych na wyspach. Artykuł analizuje przyszłe wyzwania i zagrożenia oraz znaczenie wysp w kontekście nowych technologii wojskowych, takich jak systemy obrony rakietowej czy drony. Przedstawiona analiza wskazuje, że wyspy nadal będą odgrywać strategiczną rolę w konfliktach zbrojnych, zarówno jako obiekty rywalizacji o kontrolę terytorialną, jak i ważne punkty operacyjne w globalnych strategiach bezpieczeństwa. No full textThe conflict between Russia and Ukraine, initiated by Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and escalated into a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, has challenged the stability of the international order. The article examines NATO's multifaceted response to this crisis, answering the research question: How has NATO's involvement impacted Ukraine's defense, economic stability, and Euro-Atlantic integration? The research analyzes NATO's strategic initiatives, including military aid, financial support, and political integration efforts. This approach involves qualitatively interpreting data from various sources, including policy documents, official NATO statements, reports from international organizations, and scholarly articles on NATO's actions and strategy.
The findings reveal that NATO's military assistance, involving advanced weaponry, intelligence, and training, has been pivotal in enhancing Ukraine's defensive capabilities. Economically, NATO has coordinated financial and infrastructural support to sustain Ukraine's essential services and manage the humanitarian crisis. Furthermore, NATO's focus on long-term stability promotes Ukraine's integration into the Euro-Atlantic community, reinforcing democratic values and security in the region. This comprehensive response underscores NATO's commitment to upholding international norms and countering aggression. By bolstering Ukraine's resilience, NATO reaffirms its role in safeguarding European security and defending sovereignty and territorial integrity principles, which underpin the global rules-based order.Konflikt między Rosją a Ukrainą, zapoczątkowany aneksją Krymu przez Rosję w 2014 roku i zaostrzony pełnoskalową inwazją w 2022 roku, podważył stabilność porządku międzynarodowego. Treści artykułu zawierają wielowymiarową odpowiedź NATO na ten kryzys, odpowiadając na pytanie badawcze: w jaki sposób zaangażowanie NATO wpłynęło na obronność Ukrainy, stabilność ekonomiczną oraz integrację euroatlantycką? Badanie analizuje strategiczne inicjatywy NATO, w tym pomoc wojskową, wsparcie ekonomiczne i działania na rzecz integracji politycznej. Podejście to opiera się na jakościowej interpretacji danych z różnych źródeł, takich jak dokumenty polityczne, oficjalne oświadczenia NATO, raporty organizacji międzynarodowych oraz artykuły naukowe dotyczące działań i strategii NATO.
Wyniki badań wskazują, że pomoc wojskowa NATO, obejmująca zaawansowane uzbrojenie, wsparcie wywiadowcze i szkolenia, odegrały kluczową rolę w zwiększeniu zdolności obronnych Ukrainy. Ekonomicznie, NATO skoordynowało wsparcie finansowe i infrastrukturalne, aby utrzymać kluczowe usługi na Ukrainie i zarządzać kryzysem humanitarnym. Ponadto długofalowe działania NATO na rzecz stabilności sprzyjają integracji Ukrainy z euroatlantycką wspólnotą, wzmacniając wartości demokratyczne i bezpieczeństwo w regionie.
Kompleksowa odpowiedź NATO podkreśla zaangażowanie Sojuszu w obronę norm międzynarodowych i przeciwdziałanie agresji. Arqueología e Historia en la Depresión Central de Chiapas. Las barrancas y lomeríos de Acala durante el Posclásico Tardío (1300 d.C.-1524) y el Siglo XVI. El objetivo de este artículo es exponer algunos datos novedosos sobre la arqueología e historia de la Depresión Central de Chiapas y examinar viejas problemáticas bajo la luz de nuevos datos, en especial aquellos generados durante los trabajos de reconocimiento de superficie.This article is based on the initial results of my fieldwork in the Central Depression of Chiapas as part of the archaeological project Along the Path of the Lizards.
