    ENHANCING THE SOCIAL AND RELIGIOUS CHARACTER OF STUDENTS AT QURRATU A'YUN HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

    Religious education in schools is expected to have a significant impact on the development of students' religious and social character so as to prevent them from immoral social behavior. This research tries to identify extracurricular activities that help improve the social and religious character of students. This research uses qualitative methodologies, with in-depth interviews providing as data collecting technique. The data were subsequently analysed utilising triangulation techniques by modifying existing theories. According to the findings of this study, the school offers an Islamic tarbiyah programme as an extracurricular activity from Saturday through Sunday. Every day, a programme called tawjihat murabbiyat is used to control Islamic tarbiyah activities. In addition to extracurricular activities, the improvement of students' religious and social character is accomplished by the incorporation of religious principles into subject matter and the entrenching of appropriate behaviour in school culture. Developing social character involves working on a variety of skills, including discipline, respect for others, serving both parents, tolerance, humility, and caring for others and the environment. Concerning the religious attitudes fostered by the program, such as the practise of congregational prayer, the wearing of the veil, and become a Mutamayyiz Muslims.     &nbsp

    ABSTRACT Islamic religious education is a beacon for the muslim community Received :who is being overwhelmed by darkness about their religion and leads them to become a muslim society that is in accordance with the theachings of Islam. However, this has not yet become a reality because there are still many muslim communities who have not received islamic religious education, therefor the MUI has a very important role in providing islamic religious education for the community. This study aims to find out how the roles, programs and obstacles felt by the Asahan Regency MUI in an effort to improve Islamic religious education for people in Asahan district. This study uses qualitative research with descriptive analysis methods with the stages of data collection, data reduction, data display dan drawing conclusions then described in writing. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, literature studies and Focus Group Discussions. This research focused on : what is the role of the MUI in improving islamic religious education for the people in Asahan district; what is MUI’s program in improving islamic religious education for people in Asahan district and what are MUI’s obstacles in improving islamic religious education for people in Asahan district. The results of this study indicate that MUI has a very important role in improving Islamic religious education for the people Asahan district trough programs implemented such as regeneration of preachers, routine mitings, routine studies, and deployment of koran teachers to remote areas

    PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS' NEEDS: A PANACEA FOR COMPETENT SCHOOLING PREPARATION IN NIGERIA

    Teacher Education training has played a central role in the training of individuals, who are responsible for impacting knowledge, behavior, attitude, and skills, in order to ensure better productivity and efficiency in the society. The main objectives of this study are to identify preservice teachers’ needs and what component of teaching knowledge they require?  How could we satisfied their needs? And how do we ensure their needs are adequately provided for effective classroom instruction? The finding of this study has shown that the inability of many teacher education training in satisfying preservice teachers needs has made it difficult for them to possess the require subject matter knowledge and skills for effective classroom instruction. The study has identify two preservice teachers’ needs (i.e. learning needs and teaching needs). The need are further categorized into cognitive needs, emotional needs and physical needs. Therefore, it is pertinent for the training to bridge the gap between the current practice in the training and the desired practice in order to groom competent school teachers and achieve the set objective of the training. It is recommended that the training should examine relevant strategies adopted in the training, and adjusted to current realities of needs of the preservice teachers to ensure that the training is appropriately managed to achieve the set objectives of the training Keyword: Preservice teachers; teaching needs; competent school teachers   &nbsp

    THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SOCIAL NETWORK SITES AND SOCIAL ANXIETY AMONG UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS.

    The study explore the relationship between social media communication and social anxiety among undergraduate students. The respondents were selected using a simple random technique. The data was collected by self-administered interview among 100 undergraduate students in Universiti Putra Malaysia. The Instruments used for data collection includes; Social Anxiety Questionnaire for Adults (SAQ-A30) and The Internet Addiction Test (IAT). Study revealed that Facebook was the most common social media patronized with 36 (36.70%) patronage, followed by Instagram with 33 (33.70%), WhatsApp 19 (19.40%) and finally Twitter with 10 (10.20%). Based on the respondents, most students use the social media for social communications and seeking information. The level of social anxiety among most undergraduate students of Human Ecology faculty in Universiti Putra Malaysia is high because approximately two third of the respondents possessed the higher score in social anxiety level.This implies that most undergraduate students of Universiti Putra Malaysia are up to date in information gathering and the use of social network has helped to facilitate social interaction among fellow students and friends thereby reducing the likelihood of students suffering social anxiety disorder

    The title of this research is Theoretical Debate over the Philosophical Roots of Contemporary Education and Its Implications for the Development of Islamic Education. The purpose is to disentangle, to explore and to discuss the foundations of theoretical roots of educational philosophy and its relational consequences with Islamic education. The issues raised are: 1). how is the philosophical foundation of education and its relationship to philosophy and education? 2). what are the Philosophical Roots of Educational Theory and Its Implications for Curriculum, Teaching and Learning? 3). what are the implications for the development of Islamic education? The type of research is Library Research which uses philosophical and pedagogical approach, with descriptive method. The findings of this study are: a) the study of the key philosophical ideas that influence thought and development of education are aspects of metaphysics, epistemology and axiology. Without these three philosophical foundations, science and its various disciplines will fail; b) the relationship between philosophy and education are like two sides of one coin that cannot be separated, both give and take in the context of mutualism. So the existence of philosophy in education is a necessity; c) The theoretical debate over the roots of the philosophy of education requires the development of Islamic education

    ASSESSMENT OF THE PSYCHOSOCIAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR BIOLOGY LEARNING IN AKOKO SOUTH WEST IN ONDO STATE, NIGERIA

    The role of psychosocial factors in improving students learning is well documented in literature, as well as its prospects and benefits in addressing educational problems. Hence the need to assess the psychosocial learning environment for biology learning. This study revealed biology students’ anxiety level, their sense of belonging and the classroom climate as perceived by the students. The descriptive survey research was conducted with 391 biology students selected randomly from a population of all senior secondary school biology students in Akoko South West, Ondo State, Nigeria. A four-sectioned validated questionnaire, with reliability index of 0.72, 0.82, and 0.77, served data collection purpose. Findings revealed that students’ anxiety level is moderate (mean score=1.49). Although, students often get depressed if they don’t perform up to expectation (1.27), they are not anxious whenever test is approaching (1.54), and they are unsure of their anxiety level with respect to failing (1.50). Also, students exhibit a moderately high sense of belongingness in school (mean=1.68) but students feel ignored in most extra-curricular activities (1.31) and believe that their teachers are often too busy to attend to their personal needs (1.28). Students accepts their classroom climate as conducive for learning (1.76), organized (1.74), and not disoriented (1.59). The result also reveals that the classroom atmosphere is moderately positive (mean=1.66). It was recommended that educational stakeholder and curriculum implementers should employ techniques that will further decrease students’ anxiety and boost their sense of belonging.     FORMING STUDENT CHARACTER THROUGH THE ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL PROGRAMS AT SMP-IT TARBIYATU BANIN DUKUHPUNTANG CIREBON

    Education is an effort to shape students' characters, one of which is to develop students who are independent, cooperative, tolerant, and critical thinkers. The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study is to collect data on the process and application of character education, as well as data about the difficulties that teachers face when implementing character education in Islamic boarding schools. This study included several respondents, including Islamic boarding school supervisors, school principals, teachers, and eighth grade students. Interviews, observation, and documentation were used to obtain and collect data on character education in Islamic boarding schools. The results of this research demonstrate that character education at the Islamic Boarding School Tarbiyatul Banin Dukuntang Cirebon is consistent with national education goals, namely character formation. According to the data, the character education implemented at Tarbiyatul Banin Integrated Islamic Junior High School, Dukupuntang, Cirebon uses the implementation of programs provided at schools and also at boarding schools such as the dhuha prayer program, fardhu prayer in congregation, tahajjud prayer, and dhikr in the form of istighfar to build the students' religious character. extracurricular activities, cults to develop student leadership and self-confidence, programs such as Qur'an translation, Tahfidz, and book recitation to explore religious knowledge

    The Tahfidz Al-Qur'an program has many functions, one of which is to strengthen the character and religious values of students, especially in the era of globalization which is very vulnerable to cultural shifts and moral degradation. so that many public and private educational institutions hold tahfidz programs in the hope that if students are close to the Qur'an they will have good morals and personality. One of them is SMPTQ Abi Ummi Boyolali based on the Boarding School and its flagship program is Tahfidz Al-Qur'an which targets to memorize 5 Juz within 1 year. The purpose of this study was to describe how the implementation of the tahfidz Al-Qur'an program at the Boarding School of SMPTQ Abi Ummi Boyolali. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection using observation, Interviews and documentation from September 2021-December 2021 were analyzed, presented and finally concluded. The result is that the implementation of the Tahfidz Al-Qur'an Program at the Boarding School of SMPTQ Abi Ummi Boyolali is quite ideal because it includes determining the time, environment, place, material and various methods. Then there is the direct involvement of musyrif tahfidz, upgrading abilities and recruiting to a standard. As well as the support of parents through the role of the school.     QUALITY MANAGEMENT OF LEARNING AS AN EFFORT TO INCREASE SCHOOL ACCREDITATION VALUE DURING THE PANDEMIC

    This research was inspired by the phenomenon of the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuity of learning in remote schools, which was related to an increase in school accreditation. This type of research is qualitative and uses a naturalistic approach. This multi-site research examines two schools, SMPN 3 Satap Banawa Tengah and SMPN 11 Satap Palolo. The focus of this research is to find out the practice of quality management of education in both schools to answer the research questions as: 1) management of the learning process during a pandemic; 2) correlation of learning process management with school accreditation. Research data was collected using structured interviews, observation, and documentation. The data was analyzed using data reduction, presentation, and triangulation. This study found that quality management of the learning process was consistently carried out at the school during the pandemic. Both schools have implemented limited semi-online learning. Limited semi-online learning has similarities with other online learning but also has differences in implementation aspects. The second finding, every step taken by the principal in managing the learning process, refers to the accreditation guidelines that the ministry of education and culture has set. The analysis is carried out by critiquing each question item in the accreditation guidelines and is adjusted to the steps taken by the school. In practice, it's hard for schools to meet some of the accreditation requirements. However, in terms of the formal parts of the learning process, every step schools have taken has met the criteria set by the ministry of education

    DIGITAL LITERACY AS A FOUNDATION FOR RELIGIOUS MODERATION LEARNING AT SALATIGA'S AL-HIJRAH TINGKIR ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL

    The current millennial generation, includes santri, who have digital literacy skills, but unfortunately it has not been matched by ability to use digital media to obtain information and self development. The purpose of the research was to determine the extent to which students’ digital literacy skills, how to use digital literacy as a basis for religious moderation learning, and the obstacles faced during the training on the use of digital literacy at the Al-Hijrah Islamic Boarding School Tingkir Salatiga. This research is a qualitative and participatory action research. Data collection techniques used are participant observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses Mile and Hubermen in the form of reduction, presentation, and conclusions. The research procedure includes planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The result of the studi show that digital literacy can be used as a basis for learning religious moderation. The students at the Al-Hijrah Islamic Boarding School can get digital content in the form of religious moderation material from website, social media, and others. The students also take advantage of digital literacy to create religious moderation content
