Artificial Intelligence in Nursing
Today, next generation health technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI) are evolving into change and transformation in health services. AI is also used as important support tools for innovation in nursing and improving community health globally. The use of AI applications has recently become increasingly common in nursing education, care and management processes. It supports clinical decision making and documentation processes in the nursing care of complex and critical patients [Karaaslan et al., 2024]. Applications such as clinical decision support tools, disease progression prediction, radiological image diagnosis, robotics and simulation technologies are among these AI-driven innovations [Chen et al., 2022][Clancy, 2020]. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved
Deep learning based classification and latency prediction in ABR signals|ABR sinyallerinde derin grenme temelli siniflandirma ve latans tahmini
33rd IEEE Conference on Signal Processing and Communications Applications, SIU 2025 -- -- Istanbul; Isik University Sile Campus -- 211450This paper proposes a CNN-based deep learning approach for detecting and identifying the fifth peak (Wave V) in Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) signals. By performing two tasks: accurately predicting the peak location of wave V (R2 = 0.91) and classifying its presence (accuracy = 89.9%). These results demonstrate the potential of deep learning to enhance the precision and efficiency of auditory diagnostics while reducing manual interpretation efforts. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, TUBITAK, (123E478); Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, TUBITAKIsik Universit
The relationship between fear of childbirth and birth self-efficacy in low and high-risk pregnant women
BackgroundFear of childbirth (FOC) is the most important feeling pregnant women experience about childbirth. It is also known that the fear of childbirth is affected by many factors. This study investigated the relationship between Fear of childbirth (FOC) and childbirth self-efficacy in low and high-risk pregnant women.MethodsThe research was designed in descriptive and correlational type. This study among 115 low-risk and 135 high-risk pregnant women who were recorded using a purposeful sampling.ResultsThe total W-DEQ-A values of high-risk pregnant women are substantially higher. It was determined that both groups had a moderate FOC. The W-DEQ-A and CBSEI-32 mean scores of low-risk pregnant women were significantly related. Their mean W-DEQ-A scores were negatively correlated with outcome expectancy sub-dimension (OE) scores and positively correlated with self-efficacy expectancy sub-dimension (EE) values.ConclusionThis is the first study to examine the relationship between FOC and childbirth self-efficacy in low and high-risk pregnant women. It is recommended that health professionals evaluate all pregnant women in terms of FOC and their childbirth self-efficacy for vaginal delivery

Health Profession Students' Perceptions of Teamwork and Knowledge of Speech and Language Therapists' Role in Neurological Rehabilitation
PurposeThis study aimed to assess final-year students in speech and language therapy (SLT), physiotherapy and rehabilitation (PT), and occupational therapy (OT) programs on their perceptions of teamwork in neurological rehabilitation, specifically focusing on the role of speech and language therapists (SLTs) in the team.Materials and MethodsThe study involved 166 final-year undergraduate students in SLT, PT, and OT programs. A questionnaire consisting of demographics, assessing the participants' experiences and opinions of neurological rehabilitation teams, and exploring the specific role of SLTs with neurological patients provided study data.ResultsIn this study, the student group that worked the most with neurologically diagnosed patients was found to be PT (%98), followed by SLT (%90.9), and OT (%78.6) students, respectively. The participants were aware of the advantages and disadvantages of teamwork. SLT and OT students emphasized the effectiveness of an interdisciplinary team approach in neurological rehabilitation. Most of the participants indicated utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach. They knew the role of SLTs in treating disorders like aphasia, apraxia of speech, and dysphagia, but their awareness of other practice areas of SLT was limited.ConclusionA fundamental aspect of effective teamwork in neurological rehabilitation is understanding the role and contributions of different healthcare professions. It would be beneficial to provide students with further opportunities to gain valuable insights into the significance of teamwork and team members' roles, particularly during their final year of study.WHAT THIS PAPER ADDSWhat is already known on the subject Providing high-quality and effective neurological rehabilitation services to maximize the independence and quality of life of people with disabilities is only possible by working as a team. In all team-based approaches to neurological rehabilitation, a range of health professionals, including physicians, nurses, speech and language therapists (SLTs), physiotherapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs), audiologists, psychologists, and dieticians, are required. It is essential that health professionals possess an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of other professionals to facilitate effective teamwork. What this paper adds to existing knowledge This study evaluated the knowledge of final-year students enrolled in the SLT, PT, and OT programs regarding teamwork in neurological rehabilitation. In particular, the study focused on the role of SLTs within the neurological rehabilitation team in T & uuml;rkiye, where speech and language therapy (SLT) education has been provided at the undergraduate level for 12 years. What are the clinical implications of this work? The findings of this study provide a robust basis for advancing interprofessional education at the undergraduate level and suggest developing communication, leadership, and collaboration skills in healthcare students through theoretical and practical courses. These skills can significantly increase the impact of teamwork on patients, particularly in T & uuml;rkiye.WHAT THIS PAPER ADDSWhat is already known on the subject Providing high-quality and effective neurological rehabilitation services to maximize the independence and quality of life of people with disabilities is only possible by working as a team.

An analysis of abnormal extreme price movements within the context of volatility parameter shifts: A case study of Borsa Istanbul
Introduction: In this study, approaches based on right-tail unit root tests are used to analyze high-frequency time series. Although these approaches successfully capture unusually extreme price movements (bubbles) in financial markets, they can be biased in policymaking and forecasting. Testing the parameter stability enables the detection of both unusual price behavior and possible change points within the framework of the volatility approach. The break dates that cause the parameter change on the return series can be obtained, and the differentiation in the period can be seen. Purpose: In this study, the analysis of periods that differ from the "changing parameter values" of the volatility process that emerged after November 2018 in the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) is made by using a new econometric approach in terms of change dates, parameter stability, and explosiveness characteristics. In this way, starting from determining periods with stable parameter values, the volatility process is tested to decide whether or not it shows an explosive feature. Methodology: This study's mainstay was published in February 2023. The findings reached within the framework of the knowledge provided by the technique in question will be the first in the applied literature. We used a uniform test for a mildly explosive GARCH process with double supreme statistics for BIST. Findings: BIST is significantly affected by social and political events. This result implies that the "semi-efficient" market hypothesis for BIST needs to be re-examined in this context. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved
Mediation arising from civil law medical disputes
In the thesis, the mediation institution and its characteristics in medical disputes arising from private law are discussed. In the study, the mediation institution is defined, alternative solutions are included, and the types, features and benefits of the mediation institution are mentioned. The application of the mediation institution in private law medical disputes, types of medical disputes from private law, disputes arising from contracts between physicians, patients and hospitals, and the concepts of medical malpractice have been tried to be explained. Voluntary mediation practices have started in Turkey since 2013. Although there is no legal regulation directly regulating the institution of mediation in the field of health law, if the contract between the parties is a consumer contract or a commercial dispute, the parties are obliged to apply to a mediator as a condition of litigation. Since health law is a field with unique features, people who will resolve disputes as mediators in this field must have some basic knowledge of health law. This is important for mediation to be carried out accurately. Since mediation processes are confidential, the parties can express themselves better. The mediation phase is short, does not victimize the parties further, as in the case of trial, and preserves the dignity of the parties. Since there will be no differences between the results of the cases as in the courts, and the short trial period, it does not cause negative effects on the psychology of the parties. Due to all these benefits, the mediation method in the field of health law is a method that needs to be developed
Çocuklarda Abdominal Bölge Travmatik Yaralanmalarının Bibliyometrik Çerçeveden Görünümü
ÖZ Amaç: Çocukluk çağı abdominal bölge travmatik yaralanmaları hayati tehlike oluşturabilen ve aynı zamanda adli tıbbi öneme sahip ciddi yaralanmalardır. Dünya genelinde her gün 2000'den fazla çocuğun bu yaralanmalar sonucu hayatını kaybettiği belirtilmek- tedir. Bu çalışmada, Web of Science veritabanı kullanılarak yapılan çocukluk çağı abdominal bölge travmatik yaralanmalarına ilişkin çalışmalara bibliometrik çerçeveden bakılması amaçlanmaktadır.
