The Moderating Role of Work Engagement in the Relationship of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder with Employees’ Outcomes

The present study states that work engagement acts as a moderator between the relationship of employees’ attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and employees’ outcomes in a way that this negative relationship will be weak when work engagement is high. The study has been supported by, validates, and stresses the attentional control theory. Primary data has been collected to conduct the study. The population of the study is comprised of employees from different public and private institutes of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Wah-Cantt (cities of Pakistan), while different banking, manufacturing, education, and service sectors (office work) have been covered. 259 questionnaires out of 300 have been collected back due to non-response issues. The study variables i.e., employees’ ADHD, work engagement, in-role performance, organizational citizenship behavior, and job satisfaction have been measured through a self-report questionnaire. ADHD has been measured by an 18-items adult ADHD self-report scale (ASRS-v1.1) symptom checklist by Adler, Kessler, and Spencer (2003). The data has been analyzed through regression and moderation analyses. Each one of the nine hypotheses of the study has been supported. The study concluded in the realization that when work engagement of employees with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder increases by providing them with certain additional resources, it weakens the negative relationship between employees’ attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and employees’ outcomes

The Impact of Behavioral Organization Development Interventions on Employee Development and Organizational Performance. A Mixed Methods Approach

Corporate planners have found that organisational performance (OP) presents a significant strategic challenge and complication. They are looking for solutions to the problem of how to maintain their competitiveness in the global market while establishing a strategic position. Organizational development (OD) interventions provide solutions to these challenges and complications. We employed the mixed-methods explanatory sequential design and tested the effects of seven OD behavioral interventions on OP, including coaching, reward systems (RS), career development plans (CDP), financial assistance program (FAP), pay systems (PS), and training and development (T&D). The aim of this study was to support corporate planners and practitioners. We defined the OP as growth in financial performance (FP) (G). We employed employee development (knowledge, skills, and abilities) as a mediator. We sent 800 (sample size) questionnaires to HR heads, and 762 completed ones were returned. We use a stratified random probability sampling method to choose a sample of 800 firms from the population, which is all listed firms with the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). We employed SPSS Version 20 to perform regression analysis.  We calculated coefficient β values, t- and p-values, adjusted R2, and F-statistic values were computed and determine the causal influence. We conducted mediation analysis the four-step method proposed by Baron and Kenny (1986). Goodman and Sobel Preacher and Leonardelli (2001) used a web-based technique to conduct tests to confirm the mediations among variables. We conducted a focus group of ten OD professionals to gather qualitative data, conducted thematic analysis then merged the data to obtain insightful findings. The findings are valuable for OD practitioners and the study is a step towards a Green-OD Community.

    No full text
The study in hand is focused on determinants of FPI in Pakistan. However, a pre & post analysis of demutualization of Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) is conducted in this study which makes it unique and helps in analyzing the effects of demutualization of stock exchange on the determinants of FPI. This study looks at the determinants of FPI i.e. Exchange Rate, Interest Rate, Inflation, FDI, Market Capitalization in pre and post demutualization of stock market of Pakistan. Foreign Capital Inflows are generally categorized into FDI and FPI. Portfolio investment is one of the significant parts of private investment. The focus of this study is FPI. This study examines the determinants of FPI in Pakistan in pre and post demutualization of stock exchange scenario. Pre demutualization of stock market data (on monthly basis) of 7 years (2006-2012) is taken and post demutualization of stock market data (on monthly basis) of 7 years (2013-2019) is taken for analysis. This study applies co-integration test to analyse the relationship among variables. The research found that in the pre-demutualization period, exchange rate, inflation and market capitalization were factors that impacted foreign portfolio investment significantly. On the other hand, in the period after the demutualization of Pakistan stock exchange, the only significant factor to affect foreign portfolio investment of Pakistan has been the exchange rate. The recommendations of this study are useful in examining the impact of various factors on FPI in pre & post demutualization of PSX era. The scope of the study can be enhanced by conducting the similar studies of the other countries of south Asian Region and also by considering few other factors such as political stability, terrorism, GDP growth etc. The developed economies especially where demutualization is already implemented may also be included in the scope of study to analyze determinants of FPI

Economic View of The Pandemic COVID-19: An Asian Perspective Challenges and Suggestions Based on New Structural Economics Approach

This study aims to provide a brief overview of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), which has spread to nearly 200 countries and regions worldwide but is still active. We are particularly concerned by the COVID-19 economic perspective, which presents an Asian perspective challenge. The COVID-19 scenario is continually unfolding, and this research draws on evidence from published studies and news outlets. To delve deeper into the subject, we categorize the economic impact into four groups: Central and West Asian countries, East Asian countries, South Asian countries, and Southeast Asian. The consequences are dire: lower exports, slowed international economic activity, lower inward demand, and lower local consumption. However, by addressing key challenges based on New Structural Economics (NSE) and employing the market\u27s comparative advantage strategy, Asian economies can be well-positioned to pursue stable and efficient economic development. The primary goal of the examination is to determine the factor endowment and structure. Furthermore, we advocate for a facilitating state because its functions enable structural change through operating industrial strategy to mitigate market breakdowns and support industries by concealing comparative advantages in the market to achieve stability and dynamic development. As a result, Asian economies must embark on a path to state-friendly and market-driven development following COVID-19. COVID-19 has negatively impacted economies, especially in emerging nations. As a result, Asian economies must urgently implement measures that encourage both government intervention and good market practices in order to stimulate economic progress. This includes promoting structural transformation through industrial strategy, addressing market failures, and assisting industries in achieving market stability and encouraging dynamic growth by using their comparative advantages

Determining Repurchase Intentions of Airline Passengers: Role of Cabin Crew Competence and Passenger Satisfaction

Through the lens of effect-as-information theory, this study develops and evaluates a mediation model aiming to understand the role of interpersonal and professional competence of airline cabin crew in determining repurchase intentions of passengers. The model associates the perceived competencies of cabin crew with passenger satisfaction which leads to the repeat patronage. After initial screening for the type of flight and cabin class, 303 valid responses were used for further analysis. Moreover, in coherence with Partial Least Square (PLS) method, goodness-of-fit for the proposed model, predictive relevance of endogenous variables, composite reliability and discriminant validity of the measurement scale was established before conducting mediation analysis. The results supported the premise that the positive direct-effect (26%) of crew competence on repurchase intentions is significant and with the inclusion of passenger satisfaction as a mediator, this association yields even a stronger impact i.e., 67%. These findings significantly contribute to the service-management literature by introducing a framework and testing a unique nexus among the study variables that is previously not explored in aviation industry. In the end, practical implications are discussed, few limitations of the study are acknowledged and some possible future research endeavors are also advised that can be pursued while using the proposed framework.

Economic Impact of Covid 19 on Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan

    No full text
The primary aim of this study was to explore the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on developing nations, with a specific focus on Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India. To accurately portray the pandemic\u27s impact on these economies, our research employed a model incorporating fixed effects. The findings revealed a notable decline in the per capita income of the countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The existing economic downturn can be attributed to various factors, with a significant contributor being the reduced availability of labor. The prevalence of illnesses and adherence to public health guidelines led to a noticeable shortage of labor for active participation in economic activities. As a consequence, there was a decline in both productivity and economic output. Moreover, our analysis yielded a thought-provoking finding: a notable increase in fatalities had a discernible effect on the populace. The population experienced a significant decline as a result of the fatalities caused by the pandemic, an event that had complex economic ramifications. This decline in population paradoxically resulted in a rise in GDP per capita. By employing a fixed effects model, our research gains greater resilience, rendering it a valuable asset for policymakers, economists, and scholars endeavoring to navigate the intricate landscape of the effects of pandemics on emerging economies. In summary, the findings of this research stand to make a significant contribution to the wider comprehension of the repercussions of COVID-19 on these particular countries

Islamic Easy House Financing (IEHF) increased from RS. 6.8 billion to RS 23.3 billion over 10 years. Identifying the factors that affect the satisfaction of both Muslim and non-Muslim clients with Islamic Easy House Financing (IEHF) is significant. This research then considers the major variables that impact Pakistan\u27s choice of Islamic Easy House Finance (IEHF). Questionnaires were distributed to 160 employees of Meezan Islamic Bank. The current study employed a testing strategy called random sampling. The questionnaire was divided into two segments. One segment included data about the segments, while the other segment focused on the factors that influence how Muslims finance their Islamic Easy House (IEHF). The results demonstrate that several significant variables impact the choice of Islamic Easy House Financing (IEHF), including circumstances, management quality, integrity, prominence in the media, and social impact. The most reliable indication is reputation, as most customers feel comfortable choosing Islamic Easy House Finance (IEHF) because Islamic Meezan Bank has a strong reputation and vision. The study needs to be completely structured. The focus also refers to representatives of a single financial institution. Future research may involve personnel from various Islamic financial institutions. Policymakers and directors could use the tests suggested in the current study as a guide for enhancing Islamic Meezan Bank products and services. There will be an article published on Pakistan\u27s Meezan Islamic Bank as part of the study. This research is the first to examine Pakistan\u27s easy-house-choice Shari\u27ah laws. For experts and scholars concerned about advancements in Pakistan\u27s Meezan Islamic Bank\u27s banking sector, the findings made throughout this research process will be of the utmost importance
