HERD BEHAVIOR AND INFORMATION ADOPTION BY THE INSURANCE BUYERS: EVIDENCE FROM AN EMERGING ECONOMY
Most of the literature on insurance buying behavior explains the phenomenon by considering the traditional determinants of risk and return. This paper aims to investigate the role of reviews by insurance policyholders in influencing others to adopt a specific life insurance policy. Data from 271 insurance buyers were collected using a questionnaire specifically developed for this study. The questionnaire was developed using recognized scales. The information adoption by the insurance buyers has been explained through the theoretical lens of the information adoption model and herding. The proposed model was estimated using Structural Equation Modelling Technique. The results indicated that the information usefulness mediates the effects of argument quality and source credibility on information adoption by the insurance buyers. The results also showed that herding mediates the impact of source credibility on information adoption but attitude homophily and background homophily have no role in mobilizing information adoption. This study has implications for academicians and insurance policymakers. This study is the first of its kind that investigates insurance adoption from the perspective of central and peripheral routes of information processing path and herding. It also contributes by examining the mediating role of information usefulness and herding in explaining the process of insurance adoption

THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT OF FOREIGN REMITTANCES ON RECIPIENT FAMILIES: A CASE STUDY OF DISTRICT CHARSADDA
The main objective of the study is to examine the socio-economic impact of foreign remittances on household left behind in District Charsadda Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. A sample of 115 respondents selected through a survey questionnaire from those families having at least one of their family members migrated abroad. The model used for the study is regression models. The results of the study show that socioeconomics conditions of the migrant’s households became better as compared to the condition before migration in terms of migrant’s children’s education, housing conditions, living expenses, annual income, and status in the society. R-Square value of 0.7946 shows 79.46% total variation in dependent variable (Remittances impact on the migrant family) is explained by the independent variables. Major destinations of the migrants were the Middle East and Europe. Most of the migrants were matriculated having farming as a source of income before migration. The government should adopt such policies which encourage the households to further invest these remittances, such as starting small businesses and establishment of small industrial unit
ADVERTISING SPEND: ADOPTION OF ISLAMIC BANKING IN THE BOTTOM OF THE PYRAMID MARKET OF PAKISTAN
The study investigated to remedy the research gap of measuring the moderating effect of advertising spend on consumer adoption behavior of Islamic banking at the bottom of the pyramid (BOP) market of Pakistan. Cross-sectional research data collected from a total of 300 respondents of which 267 (89%) were useful to analyze the test on the framework of the research. SEM approach was used to test the hypothesized relationship of the framework in two sequential steps wherein the 1st step the reliability and validity analysis was performed and in the 2nd step sequential structural analysis among the variables were conducted with and without moderation. The empirical analysis confirmed a positive direct relationship of Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), and Advertising Spend (AS) on the adoption of Islamic banking (AIB) in the Bottom of the Pyramid Market. AS further confirmed the hypothesized relationships of the variables through increased individual predicting power of the PU and PEOU on the AIB with an overall effect size of f 2 value of 0.565. The overall adoption value of the r2 increased from simple moderation of 0.482 to moderating r2 value of 0.669 thus depicting 18.7 percent interaction effect of the AS. The study suggests that the advertising spends on marketing communication practices should be well-focused by the managers to penetrate in the BOP market of Pakistan. Moreover, future research can eliminate the limitation of the cross-sectional analysis and generalizability of the results as a functional probability in the other regional settings and industrial sectors by adding more variables to predict the adoption behavior with different roles. The consumer adoption behavior of the low-income markets has not yet been examined for Islamic banking in Pakistan. The research is useful for the industry to keep pace with the competition by focusing on the advertising and communication practices in this industr
SUBVERSION OF DOMINANT SOCIO-CULTURAL CONSTRUCTS IN KING HENRY IV: A POSTMODERNIST-DECONSTRUCTIONIST STUDY
The “seeming” “color” of the dominant narrative in Shakespeare’s play, King Henry IV is to strengthen and reinforce the conventional socio-cultural constructs like duty, honor, glory, nobility, war, peace and patriotism as absolutes, but this apparent dominant narrative is subverted and undermined by the existence of alternative micro-narratives, which challenge and expose the reality of these absolutes as socio-cultural constructs invented by the status quo and the dominant ideology. These alternative micro-narratives highlight the inherent contradictions involving these socio-cultural constructs and human subjectivities, thereby showing them as split and dispersed, their alleged unification, as merely a pack of myths and lies. The current study means to show that the text of the play manifests postmodernist and deconstructionist perspectivism, pluralism and multiplicity. This applies both to the text and the subjectivities of the characters. The study is to be undertaken in the light of postmodernist and deconstructionist theoretical framework

Startups are important for economic growth and prosperity. Since they are led by their chief executive officers (CEOs) and particularly the tech-startups deal in a dynamic environment which asks for strategic flexibility and consideration of environmental changes for superior firm performance. Considering the importance of the issue, the present study attempted to examine the role of CEO’s Machiavellian personality trait in determining firm performance. Additionally, the mediating role of strategic flexibility between the association of CEO Machiavellianism and firm performance was also tested. Moreover, the moderating role of environmental dynamism was also tested between the relationship of CEO Machiavellianism and strategic flexibility. Data were collected from CEOs of startups and subjected to PLS-SEM for data analysis. The results of the study revealed that CEO Machiavellianism is not significantly associated with firm performance, however, the relationship between Machiavellianism and firm performance was significantly mediated by strategic flexibility. Additionally, results also revealed that environmental dynamism is a significant moderator between the relationship of Machiavellianism and strategic flexibility
EXAMINING THE ANTECEDENTS AND CONSEQUENCE OF SMARTPHONE LOAFING AT WORKPLACE: TESTING A MODERATED SEQUENTIAL MEDIATION MODEL
The growing use of smartphones at workplaces necessitates investigating its reasons and consequent effects on employees’ task performance. Moreover, this paper proposes three hypotheses to test a sequential model that elucidates both the antecedents and consequences of cyberloafing activities through smartphones. Multiple sampling designs are used to collect the data through a questionnaire. The sample size is 750 with a response rate of 92%. A structured questionnaire is used by adapting items for each construct from different established instruments available in the literature. The findings reveal that job stress creates cynicism among the employees that induces them to indulge in smartphone loafing that proves to be detrimental to their task performance. However, if employees self-regulate their counterproductive behavior, it tends to mitigate the negative impact on their task performance. This paper provides substantial theoretical and practical implications for HR managers to devise policies to reduce smartphone loafing activities
