Repertuar Towarzystwa Wydawniczego „Ignis” (1920–1925) i jego społeczny obieg w świetle badań własnych. Wprowadzenie do problematyki
In 1920, the Polish Socialist Party established a publishing house known as Towarzystwo Wydawnicze “Ignis” (the “Ignis” Publishing Society). A group of distinguished poets and prose writers of the interwar period, including members of the Skamander group, collaborated with it. Alongside works of fiction and books for children and young adults, the publishing output of the “Ignis” Publishing Society included ideological and historical writings. The publishing house additionally offered textbooks, including academic manuals and vocational training materials. Its ambitious publishing programme, diverse thematic profile, and attention paid to graphic design ensured that the publisher occupied an important place on the Polish book market of the interwar period. The aim of this article is to present the results of pilot research on the ways in which individual readers and libraries acquired books issued by the “Ignis” Publishing Society. The first stage of the research covered the resources of the National Library in Warsaw, regarded as the most representative for the examined collection due to its location and acquisition policy. In the conducted research bibliological methods—including thematic and structural-typological analysis of publications, bibliographical methods (analysis of library and the publisher’s catalogues), and provenance method—were used. The results allow us to conclude that there was considerable interest in the “Ignis” Publishing Society’s publications before 1939 among individual readers, mainly Polish and Jewish intellectuals as well as members of the working class. The books published by “Ignis” were in the collections of lawyers, physicians, government employees, and members of the uniformed services. Both the publisher’s programme and collaboration with eminent writers and scholars, combined with intensive promotion, contributed to the acquisition of “Ignis” publications by Warsaw and provincial libraries in the Second Polish Republic. Also after 1945, there was interest in the publications issued by the “Ignis” Publishing Society among various types of libraries in Poland and abroad, including the United Kingdom and the United States.

Obraz świata, Boga i człowieka w „Pieśniach chrześcijańskich dawniejszych i nowych” Jana Seklucjana
This article discusses the first Polish Lutheran hymnal composed by Jan Seklucjan. Seklucjan himself belonged to the first generation of Polish Lutherans. The hymnal genre, however, was not new, as it was already known in Catholic literature. Seklucjan’s work was written in Polish and contained a specific vision of God, humanity, and the world. This article addresses this worldview. It is particularly noteworthy that the hymns in the hymnal, which deal with eschatological themes, are not at all pessimistic; quite the opposite: they contain encouragement for a good life, which will be rewarded at the end of time
Trening oddechowy metodą Butejki oraz elementy hipnozy ericksonowskiej w terapii niepłynności mowy. Studium przypadku jąkających się nastolatków
Therapy for speech disfluencies in adolescents is an important area of research and scientific exploration in speech therapy. The case studies and procedures presented in this article, including Buteyko breathing therapy combined with Ericksonian hypnosis and craniosacral therapy, are for illustrative purposes only and were developed based on therapeutic experience with patients who stutter. The proposed protocol for exercises to eliminate the habit of excessive breathing was implemented between May 2023 and October 2023 on male patients aged 13 and 15 at a private speech therapy practice in Wrocław. The Buteyko exercises used included: nasal decongestant; steps; short breathholding; long breath-holding; Ericksonian hypnosis with reduced breathing to normalize respiratory volume and reduce the amount of inhaled air; engaging the patient in therapy and building a relationship with the patient and their family; and appropriate therapist voice. Evaluation of the interventions demonstrated the effectiveness of the procedures in terms of: relaxation, smooth muscle relaxation, increasing the value of the so-called control pause (CP), reducing the frequency of clonic-tonic spasms, reducing speech disfluencies in communicative situations, and improving the overall well-being of the participants. We would like to discuss and further study the proposed therapeutic approach for patients who stutter
Specyfika mikrostrukturalna podręczników do nauczania języka polskiego jako obcego dla anglofonów. Wybrane zagadnienia
This study examines the microstructural specificity of Polish as a foreign language textbooks published and used in the United States and the United Kingdom after the Second World War. The research material comprises the introductions and basic units of the mentioned textbooks. The analysis demonstrates that, despite formal and content-related diversity, all textbooks conform to one of two possible compositional patterns of the basic unit: demonstrative text → explanatory text (languageoriented) or, less frequently, explanatory text → demonstrative text (knowledge-about-language- -oriented). The prototypical demonstrative text takes the form of a dialogue or a narrative passage, while the prototypical explanatory text is grammatical in nature. Furthermore, exercise components are not obligatory. In the introductions of the analyzed textbooks, the native language and Polish are presented in an asymmetrical relationship, to the detriment of the latter. Moreover, different communicative context gives rise to compositional alternations (the omission of certain elements or the addition of new ones) within components that, in domestic textbooks, hold canonical status
Was the Third Reich a modern creation? Some remarks on the essence and practice of National Socialism
This article is an attempt at answering the question of whether German National Socialism was a modern creation or whether it represented a sinister, Janus-faced totalitarian expression of the modernization process. Another problem considered is whether it was a revolutionary or “reactionary” phenomenon. Not only Western researchers have increasingly viewed the Third Reich as a stage in the modernization process and an alternative form of occidental rationalism. From this perspective, the Nazi movement—not excluding the Final Solution—would not represent a return to barbarism, but rather a dark variant of the European modernizing trend. National Socialism was one of the developmental possibilities of modernity, it emerged, however, under the conditions of a modernization crisis, the expansion of parliamentarism, and capitalist economic relations. National Socialism was put forward as a systemic antithesis to the French Revolution and the ideological legacy of the post-revolutionary era. This text is intended as a reflective outline and does not claim to offer an exhaustive reading of the subject
Rola podmiotów ekonomii społecznej w kształtowaniu postaw przeciwdziałających tendencjom autorytarnym i totalitarnym
Civil society—including its constituent social economy entities—is one of the pillars of democracy and the rule of law. Only democratic systems that prioritize individual freedom, autonomy, decentralization, respect for the rule of law, and unrestricted participation in public life can foster the development of civil society. Authoritarian and totalitarian systems, characterized by the centralization of power, subordinate all grassroots social initiatives, limiting their formation, organizational forms, and development. The implementation of public tasks is similarly subordinated to the state and its administrative apparatus. The following hypotheses have been adopted in order to support the presented argument: 1. Sufficiently resilient structures of civil society should be viewed as agents that inherently counteract authoritarian and totalitarian tendencies; 2. Social economy entities are essential components of the civil society framework; 3. Social economy entities—due to their specific objectives, the moral values on which they are based, and their operational principles—should be seen as key instruments for shaping desired social attitudes and legal frameworks that reinforce the model of a democratic state governed by the rule of law. The article applies the dogmatic-legal and historical-legal methods. In addition, the legal and comparative legal method was used where justified. This leads to the following conclusions: the development of social economy is influenced not only by the legal framework, but also by the broader political system. The functioning of social economy entities, as an important part of civil society, contributes to the strengthening of democratic processes. A resilient and well-rooted civil society—based on social capital, of which social economy entities are a primary source—can monitor and respond effectively to developments that threaten its core values. It can counter authoritarian and totalitarian tendencies through the strategic and responsible use of its available tools and mechanisms
