No full textThis study analyses the practice of drafting wills in early modern urban communities in the royal towns of Most and Ústí nad Labem, as well as in the imperial city of Schweinfurt, at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries. Based on the analysis of wills recorded in municipal testamentary registers, the article provides insights into property distribution, family structures, and social customs related to inheritance. The study compares the formal aspects of wills, taking into account the role of municipal authorities, the influence of religious beliefs, and the scope of women’s decision-making in the process of drafting wills. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of early modern legal culture and the social history of Central Europe

No full textAccording to Ricoeur’s concept, the archive is not only an institution intended to gather and preserve documents on the past. Most importantly, it is a social place where the living historical memory, or “remembered history”, succumbs to “written history”. However, the problem is that the relationship between written history, reconstructed from documents, and remembered history echoes the famous Platonic myth from Phaedrus, which indicates that writing, when confronted with living memory, can be seen as both a cure and a poison. By reflecting on the ambiguity of the “written history-remembered history” relationship, Ricoeur strives to show that while written history is rightly criticised for gradually departing from living historical testimony and obscuring it, much to its own detriment, it can nonetheless give it considerable support with the critical tools it possesses

No full textThis article analyzes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on BDSM practices, focusing on changes in relationship dynamics, methods of establishing connections, and the functioning of the BDSM community. Global restrictions, including limitations on physical contact, necessitated the adaptation of practices to new conditions. The study examines how the pandemic influenced the transformation of BDSM practices, emphasizing the crucial role of technology in maintaining remote interactions. The findings indicate that the pandemic not only restricted traditional forms of contact, but also created a space for redefining dominance and submission roles in digital contexts. The introduction of new communication tools facilitated the development of remote BDSM practices, affecting intimacy, preferences, and personal boundaries. These changes extended beyond individual practitioners to impact the organization of community events, the distribution of BDSM-related merchandise, and commercial services, all of which had to adjust to the new reality.W artykule przeanalizowano wpływ pandemii COVID-19 na praktyki BDSM, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zmian w dynamice relacji, sposobach budowania więzi oraz funkcjonowaniu społeczności BDSM. Globalne restrykcje, w tym ograniczenie kontaktów fizycznych, wymusiły adaptację do nowych warunków. Tekst wskazuje, w jaki sposób pandemia wpłynęła na transformację praktyk BDSM, podkreślając kluczową rolę technologii w podtrzymywaniu interakcji na odległość. Pandemia nie tylko ograniczyła możliwości tradycyjnych form kontaktu, ale także stworzyła przestrzeń do redefinicji ról dominacji i uległości w kontekście cyfrowym. Wykorzystanie nowych narzędzi komunikacyjnych pozwoliło na rozwój zdalnych praktyk BDSM. Omówione w tekście zmiany objęły nie tylko samych praktyków, ale wpłynęły też na organizację wydarzeń społecznościowych, dystrybucję gadżetów oraz usługi komercyjne związane z BDSM, które musiały dostosować się do nowych realiów
