Often, the owners, despite a good business idea and their own resources, are not able to achieve satisfactory income, which is why the ability to obtain financing for their activity is so important. The research method was a questionnaire, which was designed to present the profile of activity, identify the type of funding, and determine whether obtaining it improved its functioning

Creating conditions for sustainable development is currently a priority for the European Union countries that strive to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. This goal could be achieved through pro-ecological investments, which currently require and will require in the future access to long-term sources of financing. One of the ways of long-term financing of pro-ecological investments is the issuance of green bonds, which have become an increasingly popular financial instrument in recent years. The article presents the key regulations regarding the issuance of green bonds — the most important regulatory standards used in the markets are characterized, with particular emphasis on new regulations in the European Union that lead to the establishment of common rules for the issuance of green bonds

The main topic of the following article is to identify the impact of external threats resulting from independent causes, such as COVID-19, on the capital market and on the tools of this market, such as equity crowdfunding platforms. The analysis uses data from the three largest equity crowdfunding platforms — Beesfund, Crowdway, and Findfunds — to compare data from 2022–2023 with the period of the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland. The article compares the effectiveness of individual platforms by periods, amounts, and industries in the years 2022–2023 compared to the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. This data clearly indicates that the equity crowdfunding market is very resistant to external factors and has stable foundations for further development

Rethinking Narcissism and Misanthropy with Ovid and Shakespeare

    No full text
Ovid’s depiction of narcissism in the Metamorphoses and Shakespeare’s (and possibly Middleton’s) of misanthropy in Timon of Athens can be regarded as studies of social isolation. Ultimately self-destructive, the two radically unsocial dispositions are extreme instances of flouting the Aristotelian axiom that “man is a social animal”. In this interpretation, by focusing on the narcissistic component of misanthropy I consider the possibility of a sympathetic involvement with the two protagonists. I argue that, like Ovid’s narrative, which must not be reduced to an allegory of narcissism in some narrowly personal sense of self-admiration, also Shakespeare’s dramatic exploration of misanthropy may serve as a satirical mirror held up to exploitative and self-gratifying social attitudes. Both Ovid’s narcissist and Shakespeare’s misanthrope, in confronting us with extreme unsociability, can help us to work out a mindful and constructive affirmation of companionship, that brittle something that may prevent us from giving free rein to socially injurious self-preoccupation.

    No full text
For Juan Ramón Jiménez, San Juan de la Cruz was a great inspiration. The poet from Moguer perceived him as the “first symbolist.” The objective of the paper will be to describe the relationship between the poetics of San Juan de la Cruz and that of Juan Ramón Jiménez in terms of the functioning of the symbol. As for Juan Ramón Jiménez, the material for my research will be the poetic volume La soledad sonora (1908) and if it is about San Juan de la Cruz I will refer to his three mystical poems: Cántico espiritual, Noche oscura del alma and Llama de amor viva.  Para Juan Ramón Jiménez San Juan de la Cruz fue una gran inspiración. “Al canto de los erizos”. Mimetismo y violencia en una pseudotraducción de poesía de Europa del Este

    No full text
This article analyses a digital document of poetry in pseudotranslation, presented as an anthology of Eastern European poets translated into Spanish. The analysis takes an approach that combines cultural studies and translation studies. Based on Homi Bhabha’s (1994) postcolonial concept of “mimicry” and Gideon Toury’s (1995) ideas on pseudotranslation, the strategies used by pseudo-translators to present metonymic fragments of the representation of Eastern European poetry and culture are analyzed. A book of Mexican poetry is introduced into the discussion as a fundamental intertext that helps clarify the strategies and intentions of this anthology. Different ways of resignifying cultural representations through poetry are presented, based on the concept of “layers of mimicry”. Finally, possible answers are suggested regarding the purpose and function of this pseudotranslation in the target literature and culture.

The activities of the Orange Alternative were a form of protest initiated during the final years of the Polish People’s Republic, resembling a surreal street theatre, where young rebels employed humor, grotesque elements, and political allusion. While this phenomenon has been widely examined in cultural and sociological contexts, the present article seeks to analyze the communicative strategies employed by the Orange Alternative, emphasizing their primarily therapeutic function. The analysis of selected lexical and stylistic devices highlights the euphemistic dimension of this mode of communication

The research material consists of two hundred macro-speech acts containing micro-acts of polite expressions, including the addressing phrases under study. The analysis suggests that, despite limited figures of speech, addressing phrases in mothers’ communication perform numerous interrelated functions and influence the shape of the primary act. Furthermore, the collected material shows that mothers’ online communication provides a wealth of information on contemporary manifestations of linguistic politeness and can also be a source of knowledge about the etiquette behaviours of future generations
