THE FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE INCORPORATING THE ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT APPROACH AT KOBE TOKIWA UNIVERSITY
In Japan, the first-year experience that rapidly gained attention at the beginning of the twenty-first century was clearly positioned in 2008 as formal undergraduate educational programs (The Central Council for Education, 2008). The term “first-year experience” is defined as a “comprehensive educational program primarily created for freshmen” to promote their smooth transition from high school to university and to create successful academic and social experiences at university (The Central Council for Education, 2008). Thus, the first-year experience is a specific program with activities implemented by diverse universities to fit the unique needs of their first-year university students (Tachi, 2008). One important issue of the first-year experience within the undergraduate program has been identifying ways to guarantee the quality of education. Kobe Tokiwa University’s four departments (medical technology, nursing, child education, and dental hygiene) require students to gain strong abilities to collaborate and cooperate in teams to be responsible for future team medical care or a school as a team. Therefore, in 2018, the university implemented a first-year experience program that incorporated the organizational development approach instead of the conventional human resource development approach. This article shares our experiences using a first-year experience program that incorporates the organizational development approach, and we discuss the potential of this approach for the first-year experience. To estimate the effectiveness of organizational development approach in FYE, we analyzed and compared the interim data that were reported on students in 2017 and 2018 using a text mining method. By introducing this “Organizational Development” approach into the students’ first-year educational curriculum, results suggest that it is possible to “deepen self-understanding” and “cooperate in self-understanding of others” at an early stage of a student’s enrollment. It is thought that this approach could become another effective method for universities to use for training professional persons as interpersonal aid workers
INFLUENCING CONSUMER’S BEHAVIOR: PERSPECTIVE OF INFORMATION QUALITY AND CONSUMERS REVIEWS ON AIRYROOMS

Virtual Hotel Operators emerges on 2015 especially in particular countries such as India. India is the first country that introducing the concept of Virtual Hotel Operators. This concept was developed well in Asia including Indonesia. In Indonesia, there is a company that adopted the concept of VHO called as AiryRooms. AiryRooms is the budget hotel management company that manage and promote the best hotel room in Indonesia by applying the standard of procedure based on its standards. This research is to examine the factors of the intention to buy on Airy Room using some key factors such as Review, and Information Quality. Structural equation model is used to test the relationship of these factors with Satisfaction, Perceived Value, and Purchase Intention. The result indicate that Information Quality and Consumers Reviews as the important precursors then Satisfaction and Perceived Value are the key determinants of purchase intention. By providing high-quality of information that is clear, timely, relevant, and easy to understand is essential to enhance the efficiency of searches, to increase customer’s satisfaction of the information, and to avoid information overload. Further studies are suggested to explore their comparison between respondents with and without experience using the Virtual Hotel Operator. The sampling method used in this study was adequately suited to its research purpose, the generalisability could be enhanced if future research systematically sampled from more diverse population.
UNDERSTANDING ETHNIC IDENTITY IN THE CONTEXT OF INTERNAL MIGRATION: A CASE STUDY OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS OF ETHNIC MINORITY ORIGINS IN URBAN BANGLADESH
Although much scholarly attention has been given to the historical and contemporary struggles of ethnic minority communities in Bangladesh especially related to the politics of indigeneity, this study specifically seeks to obtain a holistic understanding of the process of renegotiation and maintenance of ethnic identity as experienced by university students of ethnic minority origins in Bangladesh who have migrated from their ancestral home to urban centers. An ethnographic approach based on key informant interviews and focus groups was employed to collect qualitative data. Findings suggest that the notion of ethnic identity is not static; rather it is complex and dynamic. Although the sense of belonging to a distinct ethnic group is very important to all study participants whenever issues affecting all ethnic minorities in Bangladesh came up by dissolving inter-ethnic boundaries, participants constructed a rather homogenous ethnic identity primarily underpinned by their historical and contemporary marginal status. It is also found that ethnic migrant students with higher levels of previous ethnic involvement better maintain their ethnic identity compared to students with less previous group involvement. By revealing the importance to consider agentic forces, this finding contradicts with social identity theory which has traditionally undermined individual’s agency. Earlier studies have shown that ethnic students with higher previous ethnic involvement completely replace their previous social support network by creating a new one in the new environment. However, participants in this study simultaneously retained and accessed both their old and new social support networks depending on situational demands and opportunities. Findings also indicate that ethnic students who felt negatively about their ethnic group in the new environment showed lower self-esteem and increased alienation from their ethnic group. Relevant policy implications and future research directions have been outlined based on the study findings and discussion
MOODLE AS AN EXTENSIVE READING MECHANISM: A STUDY TO FACILITATE EXTENSIVE READING IN AN OMANI EFL CONTEXT
Extensive Reading (ER) in the English as Foreign Language (EFL) field is of paramount importance for students' academic success. For this reason, innovative teaching and testing mechanisms must be applied in extensive reading programs in order to enhance students' language learning. This paper reports on the results of a mixed methods case study of ninety-eight Level 2 EFL foundation students at Middle East College in the Sultanate of Oman. The study explored the effectiveness of a MOODLE extensive reading program in assessing students' extensive reading skills. The MOODLE program was utilized to measure students’ understanding of the graded stories and to track their reading progress. Results of the quantitative data analysis indicated a substantial improvement in students' reading comprehension, number of attempts, motivation to read, and comfort, as well as a preference to the novel assessment method. Although both the standard and MOODLE assessment methods demonstrated significant students' gains and the success of the ER program in the context of study, the MOODLE program enhanced these gains considerably
THE IMPACT OF LANGUAGE EXPOSURE AND ARTIFICIAL LINGUISTIC ENVIRONMENT ON STUDENTS` VOCABULARY ACQUISITION
Acquiring wider vocabulary knowledge is an important step for mastering a foreign language and becoming a proficient foreign language speaker. It is commonly assumed that the lack of vocabulary knowledge has a more dramatic effect on clarity and fluency of language than the lack of grammatical knowledge or poor pronunciation.Research conducted by numerous scholars throughout the world has proved that there is an obvious correlation between language exposure and second language acquisition, which also includes vocabulary acquisition. Vocabulary acquisition is an important element of second language acquisition which is hardly possible without language exposure. In case of the lack of natural language exposure artificial linguistic environment is one of the options for language learners. There are multiple ways to improve students` vocabulary and facilitate the process of language acquisition using some methods and tools in and outside the language classroom such as creating artificial linguistic environment in the language classroom and by encouraging language learners to use authentic materials for self-study

USE OF ELECTROENCEPHALOGRAPHY AND FACE BIOMETRICS FOR EVALUATION OF CHRISTMAS AROMATIC COMPOUNDS
The Christmas time is traditionally associated with the purchase of gifts and a specific shopping atmosphere. While we may not perceive it, it is also the result of multiple senses´ influencing at the same time that we either perceive or do not influence affect our mood, decision making, memories and overall feeling of buying. An important component of shopping atmosphere is aromatic air. Although the smell has in terms of perception (human perception) relatively low share in relation to sight or hearing. Its significance mainly lies in impact on memory and creating of associations. The research integrates the measurements of importance to use specific Christmas aromatic compounds for clients and their influence of human sense. Research objects were chosen six samples typical for Christmas time. The main methods needed for obtained data in consumer neuroscience survey were used one biometrics (Facial Biometrics Recognition) and one neuroimaging (mobile Electroencephalograph) techniques in laboratory conditions. Except these, we verified three hypotheses by ANOVA and logistic regression statistics methods. The main goal of this research was a revelation of actual impact on micro emotions, valence, attention, emotional interest, frustration, relaxation, and engagement of clients/consumers.

ONE BELT ONE ROAD (OBOR) AND THE INCREASE OF CHINA’S GLOBAL INFLUENCE
One Belt One Road (OBOR) is a development strategy proposed by Chinese leader Xi Jinping focusing on connectivity and cooperation among countries in Eurasia. OBOR revives silk road which covers strategic areas that crossing Asia, Africa, and Europe. OBOR is designed for trade purposes that can multiply trade profits with a multiplier effect. This development strategy is carried out by China as a manifestation of China's determination to take a greater role in global development and create a trade network that will be based in China. In a global scene, OBOR is China's real action in promoting trade, establishing unilateral liberalization, free trade agreement, and new international organization. Those actions are relevant to the principle of Liberalism. OBOR initiative was originated from the concept of Chinese Dream which was first popularized by Xi Jinping in 2013. Chinese Dream aims to rejuvenate the Chinese nation, modernization, economic prosperity, and national glory. OBOR is China's effort to become a hegemon country, especially in Asia, generally in the world. In this research, the authors use Antonio Gramsci's theory of hegemony and the Liberalism theory to analyse China's efforts to realize its dreams to become a country that carries out cultural leadership that is not only superior in the economy but also in politics. The authors apply descriptive-analytical method and library research. The aims of this research are to know in what extent China's success in embracing Eurasian countries to create a trading system that benefits both China and the countries involved, to analyse how OBOR creates economic interdependence in the region and how OBOR is used to strengthen China's geopolitical power on a global scene
TEACHING FIRST LEVEL TERTIARY ACCOUNTING USING A GRAPHICAL METHOD TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ UNDERSTANDING AND ENGAGEMENT
Introductory accounting is a first level accounting subject in an undergraduate accounting degree. The subject provides students with fundamental knowledge of, and skills in applying, accounting concepts and principles, and prepares students for higher level accounting subjects. Research shows many students struggle to understand these accounting fundamentals, and indicates that contemporary teaching methods, utilising visualisation and graphical representation, could benefit student learning. An innovative method of teaching accounting using graphics proposed by Darlow (2016), yet to be validated, has potential to enhance the understanding of complex accounting principles. The current study uses a quasi-experimental method to compare students taught using a traditional approach to those taught using Darlow’s method. The sample consists of undergraduate students enrolled in the introductory accounting subject in two consecutive trimesters; a control group of students taught in Trimester 2 and a quasi-experimental group taught in Trimester 3. Tests of understanding were compared to ascertain differences and a satisfaction survey was deployed. Findings provide implications for teaching both introductory and higher-level accounting subjects, and for designing learning and assessment materials
