Some simulations of character implementation models were tested. Of the four simulation models applied (habituation, learning time, values strengthening and extracurricular), only two were employed to strengthen the character education through the use of discourse analysis methods; habituation and extra-curricular activities. The findings reveal that the model school students are very enthusiastic about recognizing and exploring the values of local wisdom through the discourse analysis methods, and more importantly,  the use of those methods leads both the teachers and students to discover at least five character values; honesty, work ethic, mutual cooperation, determination and courage

    Get PDF
In the nineteenth century the process of history professionalization took place. It was characterized by exclusive development of the discipline. The “founding fathers” tried to bold the borderlines between the history and other disciplines and sharpen the focus of historical researches. Just this view was reflected in fact of choosing archival data and official documents as only reliable type of sources and also the established view about the honest academic enabling to represent “what actually happened”  ̶  formula proposed by L.Ranke. In the twentieth century subject of history was conceptualized in a new way. This was an epoch of so-called “New History” which had introduced interdisciplinary approach in historical research. The new generation of historians developed interest to the topics which in recent past might be treated as not relevant for the academic occupation. In this very context appeared necessity of literary sources’ use. This search for new sources was favoured by the coincidence in time with dispute about historicity of literature. The part of practitioners of history ignored it and preferred to make history in a traditional way, i.e. in spirit of Rankean historiography. This was case at least in Georgia and it continued to be the same in nowadays. The paper aims to fill (of course only partially) this gap in Georgian scholarship. It uses one monument of nineteenth century Georgian literary fiction for reconstructing of reality and elaborates on more general topic concerning the realistic prose as important source for history representation

    Get PDF
This study aims to find the best set of financial ratios that can be used to predict the financial distress of private conventional banks in Syria and to distinguish between distressed and non-distressed banks in the first and second year before the distress. In order to warn the concerned parties to intervene and take corrective actions in a timely manner and to restore the health of these banking institutions. To achieve this, a stepwise discriminant analysis was used and 21 financial ratios were calculated for a sample of 11 banks for a period between the years (2010-2016). The following proposed model was reached: Z = 14.746 (D/A) + 35.069 (L/A) -15.899 (NFE/A) -5.134 (NPM) -26.076. Test of the model has been done, and it was found to be able to predict the financial distress and distinguish between distressed and non-distressed banks with an accuracy rate 100% in the first and second year before the distress

USE OF E-LEARNING AND COURSE ASSIGNMENTS TO IMPROVE LEARNING EFFECTIVENESS IN CONSTRUCTION PROJECT PLANNING

    Get PDF
Construction project planning integrates various types of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in civil engineering, and learning effectiveness among students is often diminished by a lack of real construction work experience. This research describes the design of a series of course assignments for construction project planning instruction, integrated with the use of e-learning tools. Following the semester-long course, a questionnaire is used to assess learning outcomes. Findings show that the course assignments significantly improve learning outcomes and that learners find the e-learning tool to be convenient and helpful in developing autonomous learning abilities through solving course assignment problems. In addition, as smart phones have emerged as a mainstream e-learning device, the user interface of instructional content must be modified for optimal effectiveness on smart phones. The research findings are integrated and enumerated as an instructional framework reference for the subject of Construction Project Planning
