COPING STRATEGIES PREDICTING QUALITY OF LIFE AMONG PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS
Sub-Saharan Africa still been prevailed with a pandemic health and development problem known to be HIV/AIDS with the prevalence well noted in Nigeria. Immediately after been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS patients begin to experience poor quality of life. Coping strategies is identified as an influencing factor predicting quality of life (QoL) of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). This study examines coping strategies predicting quality of life of PLWHA attending antiretroviral therapy at the Hematology and Pathology Clinic, State Specialist Hospital, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria. Using multiple regression analysis, a cross sectional design and a purposive sampling method was employed to sample two hundred and ten PLWHA. A structured questionnaire focusing on socio-demographic profile, coping strategies and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire for HIV-Brief Version (WHOQOL-BREF) instrument was administered to the participants. The results showed that coping strategy significantly predict physical (R=0.41;R2=0.17; p<.05), psychological (R=0.55;R2=0.28; p<.05), social relationship (R=0.50;R2=0.25; p<.05), environment (R=0.55;R2=0.31; P<.05), spirituality (R=0.51;R2=0.26; p<.05) domains and overall WHOQOL-BREF (R=0.58;R2=0.21; p<.05) of PLWHA. However, coping strategy didn’t significantly predict level of independence domain (R=0.25;R2=0.06; p>.05) of quality of life. Specifically, self–distraction (B=0.11;β=0.21; p<.05), active (B=-0.14;β=-0.21; p<.05), acceptance (B=0.12;β=0.19; p<.05) and religion (B=0.08;β=0.15; p<.05) coping strategies independently predict overall WHOQOL-BREF of PLWHA. Also, highest and lowest mean score was recorded in environment and spirituality domains of WHOQOL-BREF respectively. Among PLWHA, coping strategy is essential indicator for the improvement of QoL. Coping strategy plays an important role in the determinant of domains and overall quality of life of PLWHA.

THE EFFECT OF CONSTRUCTING AND ANALYZING MODEL IN ENHANCING TERTIARY EFL LEARNERS’ GRAMMAR AND WRITING ABILITY
This research aimed at examining the effect of Constructive and Analyzing Model on learners’ grammar mastery and writing ability at the university EFL context. The study also attempted to seek the light on how they perceived about the implementation of the model in learning grammar integrated with writing activities. A quasi-experimental with pretest–posttest non-equivalent control group design was employed, involving 49 university learners. Cloze-grammar tests and questionnaire were used to collect the data. Before administered, the instruments were tried out in a pilot class to establish validity and reliability. The experiment group was engaged in CAM activities following five major phases, such as text observation, form/function and discourse connection, grammar exploration, peer and reflective feedback, and comprehension check and clarification, meanwhile the control group received no treatment and was taught by using an ordinary method. The independent sample t-test was performed using SPSS 25 to investigate the difference of grammar mean score between these two groups in terms of S-V agreement and tenses. The results revealed that the Sig. (2-tailed) values of the experiment group and the control group were .015 and .586 respectively, and the significance value between the groups was .039. The findings showed that there was a significant difference on the grammar score between the experimental group and the control group. It revealed CAM could assist learners not only to understand grammar lesson more easily but also to make a use of their grammatical knowledge in writing more accurately. Furthermore, most of the participants perceived positively towards the implementation of CAM in learning grammar. Since the implementation of CAM is effective in grammar class, ELT practitioners are suggested to apply this model on other skills in different areas.
A STUDY ON DEVELOPMENT AND CURRENT APPLICATION OF MOTION GRAPHIC IN TAIWAN’S POPULAR MUSIC
With the advances in technology, the way of communications has become more diverse. Motion graphic combines graphic design, animation design, and film languages. Motion graphic is a new industry with intense performance styles and can be used in different media and platforms, such as commercials, music videos, film and television titles, web pages, and various display screen sizes, etc. Because motion graphic is a non-narrative time-based media, mostly it combines with music. The Taiwan 25th Golden Melody Awards introduced motion graphic design for the first time in 2014. This changed the monotony of past awards ceremony and reignited audience’s attention and discussion, as well as sparked a wave of motion graphic within the country. Through in-depth interviews with some industry experts, this study has defined the concept of motion graphic, analyzed its applications and development in popular music, and explored its future trends. The results of the study show that motion graphic is a cross-domain integration. With the appearance of interactive technology products, motion graphic strengthens the connection between the media and the audience, bringing different interactive experiences to the audience. The development of the Internet has also led to the spread of motion graphic due to high image quality, which has changed the speed of message dissemination and the way people listen to music. Because motion graphic has the advantage of actively transmitting messages, it has three main applications in popular music, which are music videos, concert video design, and the visual presentation of award ceremony. It is an inevitable trend that future music will be presented in the form of motion graphic
THE DISCOURSE OF GOVERNANCE IN THE LINGUISTIC LANDSCAPE OF QUEZON CITY GOVERNMENT
The study aims to analyze the discourse of governance in the tarpaulins and posters of the Quezon City government, which were posted and distributed on the identified public spaces. The researcher used the three-dimensional model (description, interpretation, and evaluation) of Critical Discourse Analysis designed by Norman Fairclough as a method for document analysis. The Rights-Based Approach in Governance formulated by the National College of Public Administration of the University of the Philippines-Diliman was used as a theoretical guide in analyzing the discourse of governance. It concludes that (1) human rights has influence in responding to the needs of the constituents and governance. (2) Since the English language is being used in most of the transactions and communications of the government, the city government used Filipino language and Taglish (Tagalog and English) to simplify and explain the importance and contents of newly enacted policies and created programs. (3) The issued Executive Order No. 335 on August 25, 1988 pursuant to Article XIV, Section VI in the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines, that intensifies the use of Filipino language in official transactions and communications in government offices was not following by government agencies. Instead, English language is being used in all the documents, while the language for face-to-face communication or materials distributing to the mass is Filipino. And lastly (4), language can create and close the gap between the government and its citizens.
CORPORATE ENTREPRENEURSHIP RESPONSIBILITY (CER) IMPLEMENTATION IN THE LIGHT OF ZAIN JORDAN
Generating new ideas, approaches, and models in social sciences- and all sciences- is essential for the world’s sustainability and development. Corporate Entrepreneurship Responsibility (CER) is a newly introduced tool in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region towards building region-wide entrepreneurship ecosystems. In this research, we are aiming to study the CER in-depth through a qualitative case study of a telecommunication company in Jordan, Zain Jordan, which established a division solely dedicated to the support and development of promising entrepreneurs in the county. To answer the research questions which focus on defining the CER for companies, present a strategy for the implementation of CER along with understanding the impact on the entrepreneurial society from establishing such concept or department in a company, and test whether CER could be considered part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in a company; interviews were conducted with professionals from the CER and CSR departments at Zain Jordan, in addition to a random sample of the entrepreneurs who have been benefiting from CER division’s services. Also, analysis of the company’s reports was part of the research paper’s methodology. As a result, capital and investment, as thought by many to be the basic step of establishing and growing a business, were not considered as such. Three main factors for sustaining and growing a start-up business have been discussed: fully equipped workspace, mentorship programs, and a base of networks for the entrepreneurs. Hence, this research is a contribution to present a newly adopted business approach to support entrepreneurs and young businesses in a developing country.
EXPLORING ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY STRENGTHENING FACTORS INFLUENCING THE USE OF COMMUNICATION FOR DEVELOPMENT TECHNIQUES FOR ENHANCEMENT OF PRIMARY HEALTH CARE SERVICES ADMINISTRATION IN NIGERIA
The impacts of organizational capacity-strengthening support provided by local non-governmental organizations toward the utilization of communication for development techniques (advocacy and behavior change communication) for the improvement of primary health care services administration in the North-eastern Nigerian state of Yobe were explored. Using the organizational capacity assessment tool model and critical discourse analysis, the responses of five key management personnel of Yobe State Primary Health Care Management Board were analyzed. Organizational capacity strengthening in respect of organizational governance, coordination and partnerships, organizational planning, human resource development and management board dimensions appeared to have salient influences on the utilization of communication for development techniques in primary health care services administration with budgeting and financing dimensions having weaker influences. Perceived sustainability crisis and government political commitment appeared to play a moderating role
“MAKING IT WORK” – PRACTICE EXAMPLES OF PREPARATION AND EMBEDDING PEER-TO-PEER LECTURE FILMS IN SUCCESSFUL INVERTED CLASSROOM SCENARIOS
Embedding lecture videos in “inverted classroom” teaching scenarios has been proven successful in teaching material science to first year mechanical and automotive engineering students at HTW Berlin. These videos covering difficult scientific background knowledge such as precipitation hardening, duplex steels, materials testing and heat treatment as well as lattice defects, composits and corrosion were initiated from students needs and learning experiments. Therefore a student project was defined for production of lecture films each semester supervised closely by the lecturer and film expert. This peer-to-peer approach is essential because the students immediately include their own learning experience and strategy into the set of films and therefore directly implement their perspective and scientific needs within the digital teaching material. Along with recording of lectures the lecture films provide for excellent self-study material suitable for inverted classroom scenarios. Because students already use videos as learning source they appreciated the possibility work independently, appeared active, well prepared and motivated given the self-study period was facilitated well and the contents were in alignment with the overall learning outcome of the course. Also, the quality of the lecture videos influences the learning behavior. Here, sequences of the teaching method are qualitatively evaluated by practice examples encouraging lecturers to get started with digital learning material and the inverted classroom teaching method
DYEING OF SILK FABRIC WITH EXTRACT FROM CAESALPINIA SAPPAN
Dye extract derived from Caesalpinia sappan bark has been studied for incoherent colour saturation and poor fastness properties by local textile craftsman in Malaysia. This research was carried out to investigate the intensity of colour absorbed by silk fibre and its fastness properties against light. Boiling method was applied to extract its natural colourant; and mordanting and dyeing were conducted through pre-mordanting, simultaneous mordanting and post-mordanting procedures. Visual observations were made to examine the shades of dyed samples and the lightfastness properties were analysed via grey scale method. The dye ability results showed that all fabric samples appeared in different range of shades where the darkest colour of Post-mordanting was discovered almost similar to the control sample. It is concluded that natural dye extracted from the Caesalpinia sappan bark produced variation of shades on silk fabrics and the range of fading indicates resemblance between treated and untreated fabric
