TALENT ACQUISITION AS A STRATEGIC TOOL OF BUSINESS PERFORMANCE
Get PDFThe business performance has been closely tied with the talent management strategies in the hyper-competitive and increasingly complex global economy in order to attain growth and sustain. The company which excelled in talent acquisition experienced which leads to leap up the business performance. Regardless of the size and nature of the business, all the organizations face war for talent. Hence, acquisition of right talent and making a talent pool can be the biggest challenge. This study moves forward theory of talent acquisition strategies (TAS) through the practical implication of private sector organizations in Sri Lanka. The talent acquisition strategies comprise with talent mapping (TM), talent identification (TI), talent onboarding (TO). The foremost intention of this study is to scrutinize the effect of talent acquisition strategies on business performance. The questionnaire survey was conducted for 195 HR professionals in the public sector organizations in Sri Lanka. In order to analyze data, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was employed to test for its normality, and person correlation test was used for measuring the relationship between variables and multiple regression analysis was applied for determining the effect of variables. The results indicate that even though talent acquisition strategies are significant predictors of business performance public sector, contribution of talent acquisition to the business performance is minimal. Internal alignment between talent management strategies and Business Strategy are suggested for future research as crucial to trump organizational performance
DYNAMICS OF COMMUNITY OF LEARNING (CoL) DISCOURSE ON EMPLOYING STEM ACTIVITY IN CONDUCTING RESEARCH PROJECT
Get PDFIn 1995, Science Education Institute (SEI) has made the biggest revolution ever in the history of Philippine Education by guiding the Department of Education Culture and Sports (DECS) to mold young citizens who are scientifically and technologically inclined into the greatest manpower that will provide social and economic growth in the country. Part of this revolution is offering special science class with a curriculum packed with more science, mathematics, and scientific research as subjects compared to the basic education curriculum. This curriculum has been implemented in 2 decades and yet in the latest Department of Science and Technology, DOST survey in a rating of 1-7 experts gave Philippines an average score of 3.72 in terms of our global competitiveness in the world of scientific research and technology. There is the need to further revolutionized and explore not only the curriculum but also the approach of teaching scientific research especially for young scientist enthusiasts who wants to develop the skills in conducting Science Research. This study is conducted to capture the dynamics of the online discourse by analyzing the question & interaction pattern and response among the CoL (with the presence of the more-knowledgeable-others) using the Online google classroom STEM lesson version on developing a quality research investigatory projects and in changing the students’ self-efficacy on conducting a science research project. The captured dynamics will provide us a theory and model with a panoramic view of handling the future classes in conducting a science investigatory project in all science research curriculums
THE CRIMINALIZATION OF MARITAL RAPE IN INDIA: A DISTANT DREAM
Get PDFAs per Indian Penal Code, 1860 (Sec.375) “Rape” is an offence whereby a man has sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent or when the consent is obtained through fraud, deceitful means or when the woman is of unsound mind or intoxicated. On one side where this section protects the women by providing strong punishment which would act as a deterrence, on the other hand the same section explicitly removes “Marital Rape” from the ambit of it and does not define it as rape, making women nothing but helpless sufferers at the hands of their spouses. Rape is a clear violation of human rights and the relationship between the sufferer and the perpetrator cannot be used as a defense in cases of rape under any circumstance. The argument that the Honorable Court puts forth is that criminalizing marital rape would destabilize the institution of marriage, this shows the presence of innate social misogyny present in our society which has led to exploitation of women at different stages of life. The exception clause of Sec. 375 is very evidently giving an upper hand to the husband and constant consent to sexual intercourse to which the wife has no option but to submit. STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION SKILL: THE ROLES OF TEXT READABILITY AND QUESTION DIFFICULTY
Get PDFThis research is trying to investigate whether students’ difficulties in comprehending high-order questions are related to the readability of the reading text and the difficulty of the questions. The subjects in this research are freshmen in Institut Teknologi Kalimantan. Using random sampling, students with different levels of reading skills are chosen. This research asked students to answer reading comprehension tests, consisting of questions ranging from literal to evaluative questions, with reading texts ranging from easy to difficult. The result shows that in almost all levels of reading texts, inferential and evaluative reading questions are considered as the most difficult, as shown by the few numbers of correct answers. The level of text readability also influences students’ comprehension with the ‘easy’ text has the most correct answers and the ‘difficult’ text the least. It can be seen that students need to be introduced to a variety of texts and to be taught to answer questions with different levels of difficulty
THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MINDFULNESS MODULE TO REDUCE AGGRESSION AMONG PRISON INMATES
Get PDFThe purpose of this research was to examine the positive effect of mindfulness among female prison inmates who are aggressive. Quantitative Quasi-experimental research methodology was used in this research where the empirical intervention was studied using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 36 female inmates from one of the prisons in the Malaysian state. They were tested for mindfulness techniques and the measures were taken before and after intervention for six weeks. The research was conducted using survey questionnaires. Measurements were made using the “Mindful Attention Awareness Scale” for the measurement of mindfulness. Aggression questionnaire developed by Buss & Perry was used to measure aggression of inmates in terms of Physical Aggression (PA), Verbal Aggression (VA), Anger (A), and H (Hostility). The data collected were analyzed with SPSS version 25. The findings indicated that there is a correlation between mindfulness and aggression. The study also indicated that those who had practiced mindfulness showed less aggression, and built a strong bond with other participants in the group. There were limitations to the prison environment due to security reasons. Thus, it is recommended that the study be conducted in a non-prison environment to further strengthen the findings

This study conducted a survey of 96 working adults who made investments in stock, bonds, short-term instruments, mutual funds, and/or foreign currencies. It used explanatory variables such as the profile of investors, the perception of risk, personality characteristics, and investment goals. Investment preference was the outcome variable. Significant results revealed that for medium-term investments, only the conservative and moderate investor profiles had a significant relationship with investor preference. INSTITUTING FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS ACTIONS IN NIGERIA: UNRESOLVED ISSUES
Get PDFInstituting fundamental Right actions has become one of the most popular forms of litigations in Nigeria; and for this credit must be given to the very liberal Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules, 2009 (FREP RULES) as against the FREP Rules, 1979 which is repealed. One cannot boldly say, without fear of contradiction that our courts are as proactive in their approach to some basic issues in fundamental rights litigation as the FREP Rules intend. This paper set out to re-visit the issue of jurisdiction in respect of fundamental rights litigations and the required number of applicants permitted to institute such actions; reviewing some authorities in the course and finally resolving that there is a need for the apex court to finally distinguish between its decisions in Turku v. Government of Gongola State (1988) All NLR 42 and Grace Jack v. University of Agriculture Makurdi (2004) LPELR – 1587 SC, (2004); 5NWLR (Pt. 865) 208 and to pronounce on the issue of the number of applicants that may present fundamental rights' cause in court; at any time it is called upon to do so. The paper also recommended in the alternative, tinkering of the FREP Rules to specifically handle the issues
THE SECOND INTIFADA AND THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN CONFLICT

Such an unprecedented move immediately gave rise to the outbreak of the second intifada, in which the President of Palestinian Authority, Yasser Arafat, unleashed Palestinian militias as a defensive response to Sharon's inconsiderate behave. The second intifada not only triggered a great hostility and intensive debate among Jerusalem, but also revealed a series of reasons contributing to increasingly descend in mutual suspicion, discontent, and conflicts. The researcher used secondary resources, such as articles, media, and books, to examine explanations of the failure to unite Israel and Palestine, which were divided into the failure of the past attempts, and negotiations giving endless space for governors to enact self-centred policies continued illegal military occupation over Palestinian territory, and conventional as well as obstinate demanding and belief in Jerusalem. SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION: KRASHEN’S MONITOR MODEL AND THE NATURAL APPROACH
Get PDFThe second language can be defined as any other language which is learned or acquired after their first language or their mother tongue. Learning or acquiring a second language can be a difficult task for anybody that wishes to speak or write in a language other than their first language. Teachers should have the basic knowledge of second language acquisition theories to provide a comprehensive teaching and learning environment to students. One of the most applied and well-accepted theories is Stephen Krashen’s theory of second language acquisition. The present study was carried out as an observation on students to address the importance of Krashen’s Monitor Model and the Natural Approach in the stages of second language development to ensure effective teaching of the second language. The findings show that the cause of the input factor should be taken into consideration when teaching a second language/foreign language. The findings also indicated that cooperative learning can be a good method for students to get comprehensible input from their classmates
ROLE OF HUMAN CAPITAL IN INVESTOR RELATIONS MANAGEMENT: EVIDENCE FROM GERMAN DAX30 COMPANIES
Get PDFCurrent global trends and discussions in media are mainly focusing on sustainable development goals with an emphasis on the reduction of environmental damages caused by companies. However, another important social/sustainable criterion is constituted by the role of how the company employees are reflected: the human capital. Human capital is defined as the sum of an employee’s experience and skills, which he/she profitably brings into a company. Although being perceived for increasing productivity and thus profitability, the intangible asset is not listed on a company’s balance sheet. In the context of investor relations management, the financial community is more frequently demanding additional (soft) facts on personnel data (e.g. mean age, employee satisfaction, training opportunities) for company valuations. Solely evaluating (hard) facts – such as profits, turnovers, and further classical figures – are no longer adequate to gain the true value of a company. On that basis, we investigate the relevance of human capital within the investor relations management context for all 30 German DAX-companies. In doing so, our research consists of a mixed-methods-approach, thereby combining quantitative and qualitative elements. In the first step, the company reporting – annual reports, personnel reports, CSR-reports, and non-financial reports – for all DAX30-companies is analyzed by using specific criteria model based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The findings are taken into the qualitative part by interviewing company representatives from DAX30-companies as well as management consulting firms. The overall findings provide empirical evidence, that the German DAX30-companies lack proper strategies to assess personnel data as well as represent proper information for fair company valuations
