SOCIAL INTEGRATION AND CASTE IN INDIA: AN ANALYTICAL STUDY: Received: 06th April 2022; Revised: 31st May 2022, 06th Jun 2022, 24th June 2022; Accepted: 25th June 2022
Indian society is known as multi-lingual, multi-religious, multi-castes, and multi-cultural in nature. Indian constitution gives equal rights to everyone regardless of gender, caste, class, community, language, and religious beliefs but it has been observed that caste plays an ascriptive role in Indian society since it divides society in a stratified manner which designates and promotes the hierarchical dogmatism and a sense of superiority to its lower caste. This creates discontent and disharmony in the society which becomes a crucial factor to nourish the disintegration in the society. The current study aimed to describe the impact of the divisive nature of caste on social integration in India. This empirical study included 216 respondents. The descriptive and explorative methodology was applied to achieve the results. To find out the principal factors that determine social disintegration due to caste impression in India, the data were analyzed by the SPSS version 26. The finding of the study provided that the divisive nature of the caste really hurts the societal integration power of India
GREEN BUYING BEHAVIOR AMONG MAURITIAN CONSUMERS: EXTENDING THE TPB MODEL : Received: 28th June 2021; Revised: 25th October 2021, 11th January 2022, 21st January 2022; Accepted: 25th January 2022
This study aims to explore the major predictors of green purchase behavior in Mauritius, using an extension of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model by incorporating advertising and sales promotion as two new factors. A self-administered questionnaire using quota and judgmental sampling survey was conducted to collect data. Hundred and fifty respondents judged to be knowledgeable about environmentally friendly products were approached to participate in the survey. The findings reveal that Mauritians have a strong positive attitude towards the environment. Sales promotion, subjective norms, and attitude towards the environment are found to be significant determinants of green purchase intention. Perceived behavioral control and advertising were identified as not very significant variables. Results further show that there is not enough advertising done concerning green products in Mauritius. A positive relationship between green purchase intention and green purchase behavior was also identified. The results of this study can assist marketers and policymakers in developing more effective strategies when marketing green products in Mauritius to create better awareness and more acceptability of this emerging phenomenon that is a good part of sustainability development

URBAN AND RURAL EPIPHANIES: RECAPTURING NATURE WITHIN A RUS IN URBE SETTING: Received: 31st December 2021; Revised: 15th March 2022, 23rd March 2022; Accepted: 25th March 2022
The contemplation of cityscapes often leads to poetic mirages of the urban oasis: a place that is constructed as a bricolage of the poet’s experience within a rural setting. The poet as a castaway from the safe country landmarks of their poetic material becomes aware of new creative potencies. This paper considers John Archer’s ideas on the rus in urbe phenomenon about its manifestation in the poems of Patrick Kavanagh and Dimcho Debelyanov. The analysis of several poems follows the recaptured texture of the rural within the urban as a form of epiphany, where the poet reaches beyond the established tropes of longing for the lost countryside of the past and settles into a world of pristine contemplation of the present. The synthesized experience of the rus in the urbe setting lends a new perspective on a poetic past and offers a re-evaluation of the image and conceptualization of the city and its attributes
VICTIMS OR TERRORISTS? A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF WESTERN MEDIA DISCOURSE IN THE DEPICTION OF IRAQI REFUGEES (2007-2017) : Received: 15th June 2022; Revised: 28th September 2022, 20th October 2022, 24th October 2022; Accepted: 28th October 2022
Throughout a long and troubled past Iraq has faced many dogmatic, circumspect, and social plights. Serious problems arising as a cause of these plights have caused many of the population to seek sanctuary and protection in other countries. As a result of this, the increase of refugees now inhabiting Eastern and Western countries becomes a focal point of the media. The way these refugees are depicted and perceived by the public as terrorists or victims in the host and non-host countries is heavily influenced by media reports and as such, they have a crucial role to play. The aim of this paper is to highlight the most significant linguistic choices coupled with the ideological point of view of the participants. To achieve this, the researcher analyses British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) news reports employing critical discourse analysis. Accordingly, the researcher employs Wodak's (2001; 2009) discourse-historical approach and van Leeuwen's (2008) sociological categories of actor representation approach. The findings of the analysis have revealed that in the Netherlands the Iraqi refugees are portrayed as victims targeted by hostile laws. In the USA they are portrayed as terrorists that threaten society. Under Trump’s administration seven Arab countries including Iraq have been denied entry. Furthermore, the way Iraqi refugees are described by the media is attributed to the use of generic references. Despite the negative representation of Iraqi refugees by the Dutch government, USA policies, and the Iraqi government, the BBC’s media coverage continues to represent them in a neutral light

CULTURAL CONSTRUCT AND IDENTITY IN THE SELECTED WORKS OF THREE FEMALE DIASPORIC AUTHORS : Received: 24th September 2021; Revised: 13th December 2021, 12th March 2022, 9th April 2022; Accepted: 13th April 2022
The primary concern of this paper is to engage in a critical inquiry on the issue of identity in the literature of the diaspora by three selected writers Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Bharati Mukherjee. An identity crisis is not a product of any singular circumstance or reason. There can be multiple factors contributing to the crisis of identity in an individual. It is important to note here that not only the source but also the manifestation of the crisis is varied, in the sense that individuals differ in their ways of internalizing, as also, externalizing, the emotions attached to his/her identity- as a man/woman; as a citizen; as a professional; as a part of the system of beings, etc. My concern, however, is with the loss of identity as a consequence of the loss of culture. I propose that settlements in foreign lands (away from one's birthplace/ native land) are bound to breed a sense of identity loss since there has been, willy-nilly, a loss of cultural identity while trying to fit in into a new land/social surrounding—and the culture thereof

GOLDMAN’S PLURALISTIC APPROACH TO AESTHETIC EXPERIENCE AND PIET MONDRIAN’S INTUITIVE NEO-PLASTIC ART: Received: 16th April 2022; Revised: 13th June 2022, 30th June 2022; Accepted: 30th June 2022
The objective of this article is to demonstrate the credibility of the pluralistic approach to aesthetic experience, mainly focused on Goldman's recent argument, in the case of Neo-Plastic paintings which is chosen as the most mature paradigm of pure abstract art created based on the premises of formalism. This article tries to clarify whether the spectator should realize the aesthetic value of pure abstract art based on a formalistic standpoint (as it has been commonly used), or a pluralistic mode: interactive and simultaneous involvement of all mental faculties namely perception, imagination, emotion, and cognition. To achieve the goals of this article, Mondrian's writings will be examined in light of two different viewpoints: formalists’ intuitive approach and Goldman’s pluralistic approach. At the end of this article, it becomes evident that although Mondrian, in several instances in his writings emphasizes the role of intuition in the creation and aesthetic perception of spiritual content (universal beauty as truth) of his Neo-Plastic art, his approach to aesthetic experience, similar to the recent argument of Goldman, is pluralistic; meaning that for appreciation of the aesthetic value of Neo-Plastic paintings all mental faculties, except imagination, are correlatively involved
