VOICES OF DISABLED STUDENTS IN INCLUSIVE EFL CLASSROOMS: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
Get PDFThis review investigates the state of research in English as a foreign Language teaching scholarship regarding the voices of disabled students in EFL inclusive classrooms. Out of 761 studies generated from British Education Index, Education Abstracts, Education Source, Scopus and Web of Science, only two studies met the eligibility criteria for inclusion. Hand-searching of the references from the two studies resulted in four relevant studies for inclusion. These studies were carried out in South America (n=2), Indonesia (n=2), Greece (n=1) and Turkey (n=1). This limited number of studies suggests that voices of disabled students in EFL scholarship have not been given enough importance regardless the global celebration of inclusive education agenda. The findings of this review highlight recommendations for future research, policy and practices in the field of EFL education.
 
MANIFESTATIONS OF PEACE, LOVE AND TOLERANCE IN PAKISTANI LITERATURE: IN THE CONTEXT OF CONTEMPORARY SITUATION
Get PDFIf we review the history of Asian literature, the literature created in Pakistan's national language, Urdu, is generally a message of love, peace, tolerance and coexistence. Pakistan's national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal has declared love as the conqueror of the world in his poetry. The main message of mysticism and knowledge poetry in the regional languages of Pakistan is love and tolerance. The revolutionary poetry of Pakistan's prominent poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, which is the bearer of positive change in society, calls love and freedom of expression as fundamental human values. Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi in his poetry awakens the consciousness to end the sufferings and deprivations of the common man. Munir Niazi and Ahmed Faraz raise their voices for the creation of an enlightened and moderate society. Amjad Islam Amjad describes love as the most beautiful dream of the human eye. Overall, the main theme of Pakistani poems and ghazals is love and philanthropy. This poetry refutes the general impression of the West, under the influence of which terrorism and intolerance are linked to Pakistani society. In this paper, along with Pakistani literature, the social and cultural landscape of South Asia will also be highlighted

Get PDFThis paper examines Jane Austen’s representation of the heroines of Pride and Prejudice and Emma, using Karen Horney’s psychosocial theory of basic anxiety that emphasizes the role of childhood experiences and the impact of socialization on an individual’s psychological development. Firstly, the examination shows certain episodes in the heroines’ early experiences that shape their adult identity and self-knowledge. The analysis reveals that those heroines are highly affected by their parents or chaperones, who themselves may suffer from neurotic problems that impede their ability to properly provide care and support for their children. This study found that firm age has a significant negative relationship with the level of underpricing while Covid-19 pandemic has significant positive relationship. We argue that information asymmetry and uncertainty explains the underlying reason behind our findings

No full textThrough a theoretical and practical approach, the study presents the main regulations of the right to image, as a personal non-patrimonial right: the Romanian Civil Code, the Romanian Constitution, and the new legislation in the field of personal data. The study presents practical issues such as jurisprudential solutions in Romania regarding the violation of the right to image in the online environment (Facebook, Instagram), television shows, and press articles. Also, the study deals with the much-disputed issues of using the person's image in the procedures for sanctioning the employees, analyzing how the National Authority for Supervision of Personal Data Processing (N.A.S.P.D.P.) from Romania sanctioned the abuses of the employers. The case studies and the analysis of European and Romanian legislation are also useful to students, theoreticians, and legal practitioners

No full textIn 2019, a climatic wake-up call was made by the IPCC as the world’s temperature is projected to increase by 4-6°C. With the systematically ingrained capitalist imperatives in the political and economic landscape, the notion of “green capitalism” was introduced in the justification of limitless economic growth with less energy consumption than the world can sustainably produce (Schweickart, 2010). Prior research has identified heterogenous stances on green capitalism. However, sustainable transition research has neither clarified the realistic middle ground that it should pursue, nor has it determined whether a pro- or anti-capitalistic stance should be taken in the first place (Feola, 2020). Through a literature review, the analysis of heterogeneous stances on green capitalism based on its debate scopes reveals the need to exploit capitalist imperatives to a sustainably appropriate extent rather than forcing it to produce a midway standpoint of the “Net Zero” global consensus. The findings suggest the need for a potential reconceptualization of capitalism in the political and economic landscape as a tool of green revolution toward sustainable transition, providing a realistic middle ground
DATA-DRIVEN CAPACITY MANAGEMENT AND REVENUE MAXIMIZATION OF RIDE-HAILING SERVICE WITH PRESCRIPTIVE ANALYTICS AND DEEP LEARNING
Get PDFThis paper studies capacity management of ride-hailing service with unstable passenger demand. In existing parametric approaches in the literature, normally a two-stage prediction-then-optimization (PTO) paradigm is used to implement demand prediction, capacity and revenue optimization sequentially, which generally achieves suboptimal performance due to the information loss in demand prediction. To attain optimality, in this study, we integrate these two stages into a prediction & optimization (P&O) paradigm considering both Cobb-Douglas matching function and perfect matching function, and formulate a weighted sample average approximation (WSAA) approach embedded with k-nearest neighbors, kernel regression and decision tree, as well as an innovative deep learning approach that couples decomposition, convolution, and attention together. The WSAA approach was proven to be asymptotically optimal when a sufficient number of samples are collected, while the deep learning approach based on P&O paradigm demonstrated superior performance in capacity management. Finally, as an extension, we combine WSAA and deep learning approaches to potentially achieve further improvement on optimality

Get PDFL'étude propose une exploration approfondie des déterminants d'adoption des plateformes E-learning dans l'enseignement supérieur, en se concentrant sur la population spécifique des étudiants de la Faculté des Sciences Juridiques, Économiques et Sociales de Fès, Maroc. Cette recherche s'appuie sur le modèle UTAUT (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) de Venkatesh et al. (2003), intégrant des facteurs tels que, la performance attendue, l’effort attendu, l’influence sociale, et les conditions facilitatrices.La méthodologie, conforme aux recommandations de Venkatesh et al. (2003) sur l'application du modèle UTAUT, inclut la distribution d'un questionnaire à un échantillon représentatif d'étudiants de cette faculté, suivi d'une analyse statistique des réponses via le logiciel SPSS (Venkatesh et al., 2003). Les résultats visent à offrir des insights pratiques pour les décideurs éducatifs dans le contexte spécifique de la Faculté des Sciences Juridiques, Économiques et Sociales de Fès, Maroc. Building strong literacy, numeracy and digital skills is the foundation for communicating effectively, thinking critically and navigating the digital world. Developing key 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and communication will enable students to tackle complex challenges, work effectively in teams and express themselves clearly. Encouraging creativity, innovation and adaptability enables students to think outside the box, embrace new ideas and thrive in an unpredictable future. Fostering a growth mindset and self-directed learning skills empowers them for lifelong learning and continuous skill development. While subject-specific knowledge remains valuable, this paper emphasises the need for a holistic approach that integrates these essential skills and mindsets. In addition, the recognition of the importance of social-emotional learning and global citizenship highlights the need to prepare well-rounded individuals for success in an interconnected world. This includes fostering an understanding of diverse cultures, promoting responsible global citizenship and encouraging sustainable practices. By incorporating these elements into curriculum design, we can equip students with the skills and attitudes necessary to navigate the complexities of the future, to become responsible, engaged and lifelong learners, and to contribute meaningfully to a globalised society
CASE STUDY ON THE NEEDS ANALYSIS OF VOCATIONAL MEDICAL LAB STUDENTS AT THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR TECHNOLOGY
Get PDFThe development of vocational education programs in Kurdistan is considered a potential solution to enhance the region's human resources. This development is closely linked to the development of English language proficiency in Kurdistan. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has focused on enhancing the communicative abilities of vocational education students in English, particularly in listening, reading, writing, and speaking. This study examines the needs assessment of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses for educational students, aiming to identify learning objectives and needs. Data were gathered through questionnaires and interviews, revealing that students face difficulties in active communication skills (40%), grammar (15%), reading comprehension (25%), content comprehension (10%), and writing (10%). Specific areas of English language use in technology were identified, including English media (40%), crosswords (20%), dialogue content (20%), and multiple-choice exercises (20%). The study's findings contribute to understanding the learning requirements and objectives necessary for effective English language education. They emphasize the importance of addressing students' reading, writing, grammar, and other requirements to prepare them for future challenges
