    Get PDF
The article deals with the specific character of modern engineering education, its meaning seen by the authors as the development of a competent specialist, who is well aware of complex socio-cultural circumstances, responsible and able to act professionally in the rapidly changing environment of science and industry. Such specialist is the bearer of personal and professional culture, being a special type of mental activity arrangement, which manifests itself and finds realization in the professional functioning, which embodies various apprehended, adopted, reproduced and newly elaborated patterns of culture. The paper aims at specifying the concept of “personal and professional culture of an engineer” from the viewpoint of a qualitative characteristic of consciousness and vital activity and behavior. In this study, the authors for the first time structurally characterize this concept by its reasonable analysis in the unity of all such components as general culture, communicative culture, information-methodological culture, culture of personal improvement, professional competence, culture of thinking and creative qualities. The discussion substantiates the technology of effective social and natural interaction, contributing to the development of a cultural-like techno sphere, which encourages self-realization of an engineer in his activity as a special area of culture (to carry out his assignment), and therefore can be the equivalent of his social dignity. Personal and professional culture is studied as a special qualitative characteristic of human consciousness and life, reflecting the attained level and character of the development of professionally significant personal qualities of the specialist, representing the system of his values and emotional attitudes, which affect the efficiency of his engineering activities. The authors suggest its integrative model with invariant indicators

    Get PDF
PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat is the company that manages a regional football team in Indonesia, the Persib Bandung Football Team. The company already has a merchandise store for the football team, but PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat needs to open a store that is suitable for Persib supporters’ desires. This study aims to discover whether or not building a new PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat merchandise store is financially feasible for PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat. As a result of this study, this project is shown to be financially feasible because this project will be profitable for the company and give a good return. The NPV of this project is positive and the Profitability Index of this project is greater than one. IRR is greater than the Cost of Capital, and Discounted Payback Period is faster than the time projection of this project. However, one thing that needs to be monitored is that the company should maintain the COGS of this project in order to make certain the COGS do not change too much from the current assumptions that are used in this financial projection. A slight change of COGS will have a big impact on the profit of this project. The company also should ensure that the Target Market Growth of this project is not less than 3,20% because it will make this project unprofitable

    Get PDF
The purpose of the study is to analyze the websites of museums in Russia in the European context. The Fine Arts museums in five regional centers of Russia and European Union, namely, in France, Germany, Poland, Croatia, and Lithuania were chosen for the assessment of their websites by four criteria: design, content, usability, and dynamism. A rating of the target Russian museum websites was compiled based on a comparative analysis of their compliance with these criteria. The findings allow concluding that some of the web resources of Russian regional museums meet the European standards, which let them powerfully join the modern virtual space and win both Russian and foreign audiences. The scienсe-based approach to a single virtual cultural space, which is currently on the focus of the museum institutions, supports the assumption of the museum websites to be a potent tool for the art communication with society. The practical value of the study is determined by possible uses of the results in streamlining and upgrading the museum sites, as well as in courses and training programs on museology, management, and marketing of social and cultural activities

The article is devoted to wine drinking in the Sufi sources of Transoxiana of the 16th century, on the example of Manakibs. The importance of research on this topic lies in determining wine drinking in the secular and religious traditions of Muslim society. Besides, the topic's relevance is due to the insufficient study of the issues of semantic interpretation of the concept of wine in Sufi writings. Hence, this article aims to disclose the various meanings of the concept of wine contained in Sufi writings. The primary method in the study of this issue is the historical and comparative method, and the method of literary analysis, which allows creating a holistic view of the hidden images of wine in the Sufi writings of Maverannahr of the 16th century. It is known that wine, winemaking, and wine drinking for many centuries, despite strict Islamic prohibitions, were present in Muslim society, as evidenced by historical chronicles, literary works. This phenomenon also applies to the history of the State of the Timurids and Sheibanids, where winemaking and wine drinking were widely practiced among representatives of different sectors of society

Investigating the Differences Between Prepared and Spontaneous Speech Characteristics: Descriptive Approach

    Get PDF
In the modern EFL paradigm, pre-task planning time is viewed as a norm. Pre-task planning time is one of the central concerns of teachers, test-developers, as well as researchers. Pre-task planning is planning a speech before performing a task, and it also involves rehearsal and strategic planning. The paper addresses the problem of pre-task planning advisability for A2 Russian EFL speakers. The research presented in this paper examines the structure, breakdown, repair, syntactic complexity, lexical diversity as well as the accuracy of the discourse produced by 145 Russian participants of the English language competition held in Kazan, Russia, in January 2020. The discourse analysis revealed that the pre-task time is used by A2 EFL speakers not only to focus on a dialog but also to elicit a topic text from memory, thus focusing on form rather than meaning. Hence, in A2 tests prioritizing meaning over form and measuring the ability for spontaneous speech, the one-minute pre-task planning time is viewed as questionable

Let’s Take A Walk: Exploring the Impact of an Inclusive Walking Program on the Physical and Mental Health of Adults with Intellectual Disability

    Get PDF
Background: People with intellectual disabilities experience health disparities and poorer health outcomes than people without disabilities. Increased physical activity has been found to reduce the impact of chronic health conditions among people with intellectual disabilities. Method: The current study explored the impact of an inclusive walking program on the physical and mental health of adults with intellectual disabilities. Let’s Take A Walk paired adults with intellectual disabilities, hereafter referred to as Community Walkers (n = 27), with college students to walk around a college campus twice a week for 45 minutes across 10 weeks. Data on mental health outcomes, specifically depression and anxiety, were collected from 24 Community Walkers across four-time points (pre-, mid-, post-, and 3-months following intervention), and data on physical health outcomes were collected across two-time points (pre- and post-intervention). Results: Community Walkers reported significant decreases in both depression and anxiety from pre to post-implementation. Particularly promising was clinically significant decreases in anxiety symptoms over the 10-week program. No differences were noted on Community Walkers’ measures of physical health. Conclusion: Inclusive walking programs are a valuable and promising mechanism for building social connections and inclusion and improving mental health for adults with intellectual disabilities

Criminal Law and Neuroscience: Theory and Practice in the Italian Perspective

    Get PDF
The debate on the impact on criminal justice of the empirical evidence offered by techniques of brain exploration and behavioral genetics shows no sign of diminishing, fed by literature now boundless and by case law in constant growth. In the Italian system, the impact of neuroscience at trial is still rather limited and substantially confined to its sedes naturalis, that is to say, the insanity defense. Even in this area, however, there is a very cautious, if not sometimes distrustful, attitude on the part of the courts, still doubtful about the epistemological reliability of neuroscientific evidence. The interdisciplinary dialogue is called upon to help overcome uncertainties and resistance, to avoid the underestimation of data endowed – albeit in a complementary and integrative function – with an increasingly objective value. Summary: 1. Foreword. - 2. Neuroscience: an outline. - Neuroscience and criminal law in the light of the radical-revolutionary model. - 4. Neuroscience and criminal law in the light of the moderate-compatibilist model. - 5. An overview of the use of “neuroscientific evidence” in practice - 6. Neuroscience and the evaluation of criminal capacity: a first assessment. - 7. The (still) limited impact of neuroscience in the Italian criminal trial. Diagnosis and prognosis. – 8. Conclusions

Understanding the Decision-Making Process of Women to Engage in Cohabiting Relationships

    Get PDF
Despite the extensive literature on cohabitation, there is scant literature that explores women’s decisions to engage in cohabitation. Drawing on the theory of planned behaviour and a qualitative research approach, this article explores the decision-making processes among women to engage in cohabitation. For some women, cohabitation was preceded by a clear conversation about the intention to marry. The second group of women described cohabitation as an expression of autonomy and independence by rejecting traditionally prescribed conventions such as marriage. When the promise of marriage fails to materialise, some women become increasingly disillusioned and opt to terminate their co-residence relationships in order to negotiate marriage as an option with their partners. This article utilised purposively and snowball sampling to gather data and this was through semi-structured interviews. This data was analysed thematically, and the results show a preponderance of a desire for autonomy that is checked by the harsh persistence of disempowering narratives. Further research is needed to establish patterns of autonomy in cohabiting partners

Electrocatalytic Properties of Fe-Cu Composites Prepared on the Basis of the Reduced Copper (II) Ferrite

    No full text
Copper ferrite (CuFe2O4) samples were prepared by the co-precipitation method without and in the presence of a polymer stabilizer (polyvinyl alcohol, PVA) followed by heat treatment at 500, 700, and 900°C and electrochemical reduction. The structure and morphological features of the samples were investigated by X-ray phase analysis and electron microscopy. It was established that copper (II) ferrite is reduced in an electrochemical system with the formation of Fe-Cu composites with different content of reduced metals, which is influenced by the heat treatment temperature. Copper ferrite prepared with the use of the polymer stabilizer is partially reduced during thermolysis, additionally in an electrochemical cell. The Fe-Cu composites were employed as electrocatalysts in the electrohydrogenation of p-nitrobenzoic acid and exhibited good activity in this process. To study the interaction in the CuFe2O4 + PVA complexes, the quantum-chemical calculations were performed using the density functional theory methods for the simplified metal-containing systems (atoms and ions of copper (II), iron (III), Cu2, Fe2 molecules) as well as dimers and trimers modeling the structure of polyvinyl alcohol
