A STUDY ON COMFORT PROPERTIES OF VETIVER EXTRACT TREATED AND UNTREATED FABRIC
Get PDFIn this endeavor, the comfort properties of plain woven cotton fabric and vetiver extract coated cotton fabric were analyzed and compared. The comfort properties such as thermal conductivity, thermal resistance, and water vapor permeability, air permeability, wicking and wetting properties were found for both fabrics. The results shown that both the fabrics have minor difference in values, that is the vetiver extract coated fabric has more comfort properties than the plain cotton fabric.

No full textOne of the affluent sources of strong natural fiber from the plant kingdom is Vetiveria Zizanioides and it has plentiful properties such as antimicrobial property and inherently filled with good aroma. Vetiver root powder was converted in the form of solution by using ethanol solvent and the extract was coated in the cotton fabric that gives good aroma to the wearer. The intensity of the vetiver fragrance was tested for both vetiver solution and vetiver extract coated fabric by identifying the absorbance and concentration of the fragrance using UV Spectrophotometer. The test results shows that the fragrance release rate was found to be moderately low in vetiver extract coated fabric than the vetiver solution
