    Activité antiradicalaire et cytotoxique de l’extrait acétate d’éthyle des feuilles de Mezoneuron benthamianum, Fabaceae, sur les lignées cellulaires PC3 et MCF-7

    Ces dernières années, l’intérêt pour l’utilisation des plantes dans la prévention et le traitement du cancer s’est accru, en raison de leur richesse en constituants phytochimiques variés et de leurs effets secondaires limités. La présente étude s’est penchée sur une espèce de plante médicinale de la flore ivoirienne, afin d’évaluer son potentiel cytotoxique sur deux lignées cellulaires cancéreuses. La cytotoxicité a été évaluée selon la méthode MTS (tétrazolium [3-(4,5-diméthylthiazol-2-yl) -5-(3-carboxyméthoxyphényl) -2-(4-sulfophényl) -2H-tétrazolium sur les lignées cancéreuses de prostate PC3 et mammaire MCF-7 en utilisant la doxorubicine comme contrôle positif de mort cellulaire. L’activité antiradicalaire a été évaluée par les tests de DPPH et l’ABTS, avec pour standards respectifs l’acide ascorbique et l’acide gallique. La meilleure activité cytotoxique a été observée sur la lignée PC3 (CI50 = 17,79 ± 0,09 µg/mL). Cependant l’activité antiradicalaire de cet extrait (CI50 = 13,97 ± 0,9 µg/mL pour le test de DPPH et 66,77 ± 0,9 μg/mL pour le test de l’ABTS) est moins intéressante que les contrôles (CI50 de 7,09 ± 0,3 µg/ mL pour l’acide ascorbique et une CI50 de 21,47 ± 0,4 μg/mL pour l’acide gallique). En effet, Mezoneuron benthamianum a montré une bonne efficacité contre les cellules PC3, une lignée issue d’un cancer de la prostate. Cette plante pourrait être à l’origine de découverte de nouvelles molécules anticancéreuses pouvant être utilisées dans la thérapie du cancer de la prostate. In recent years, there has been growing interest in using plants for the prevention and treatment of cancer, due to their rich variety of phytochemical constituents and limited side effects. This study focused on a medicinal plant species from the Ivorian flora to evaluate its cytotoxic potential on two cancer cell lines. Cytotoxicity was assessed using the MTS assay (tetrazolium [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl) -5-(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl) -2-(4-sulfophenyl) -2H-tetrazolium]) on the prostate cancer cell line PC3 and the breast cancer cell line MCF-7, with doxorubicin used as the positive control for cell death. Antioxidant activity was evaluated using DPPH and ABTS assays, with ascorbic acid and gallic acid as respective standards. The best cytotoxic activity was observed on the PC3 cell line (IC50 = 17.79 ± 0.09 µg/mL). However, the antioxidant activity of this extract (IC50 = 13.97 ± 0.9 µg/mL in the DPPH assay and 66.77 ± 0.9 µg/mL in the ABTS assay) is less notable than that of the controls (IC50 of 7.09 ± 0.3 µg/mL for ascorbic acid and 21.47 ± 0.4 µg/mL for gallic acid). Nevertheless, Mezoneuron benthamianum demonstrated strong efficacy against PC3 cells, a cell line derived from prostate cancer. This plant could potentially lead to the discovery of new anticancer molecules that may be used in prostate cancer therapy

    Meckel's Diverticulitis: A Rare Cause of Peritonitis in Children

    Peritonitis is a rare complication of Meckel's diverticulum. It is difficult to diagnose in a resource-limited setting. We report the case of a 9-year-old patient treated in the paediatric surgery department of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de la Mère et de l’Enfant in N'Djamena for acute peritonitis, with intraoperative findings of Meckel's diverticulitis with suspicious peritoneal effusion. Segmental resection of the small intestine was performed, removing the diverticulum, followed by immediate anastomosis. The patient was discharged on the eighth postoperative day with no complications. Conclusion: Meckel's diverticulitis is rare and difficult to diagnose in a resource-limited setting. Its treatment is essentially surgical

    The Rising Tendency of Migration Among Young Generation and its Impact on the Bangladeshi Economy

    This study investigates the rising tendency of migration among the young generation in Bangladesh and its perceived impact on the national economy. Drawing upon the Push-Pull Theory (Lee, 1966) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1991), the research examines how push factors (e.g., political instability, job scarcity), pull factors (e.g., better salaries, residency prospects), and financial feasibility influence students’ intention to migrate. Data were collected from 250 university students through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that pull factors exert a stronger influence on migration intention than push factors, suggesting aspirational migration driven by global opportunities rather than merely escaping domestic constraints. Financial feasibility partially mediates the impact of push/pull factors, confirming the role of economic access in migration decisions (Stark, 1991). Interestingly, government policy perception does not significantly moderate migration intention, highlighting a gap between policy initiatives and youth trust or awareness (Siddiqui, 2020). Moreover, migration intention shows a negative correlation with perceived economic impact, reflecting student concerns about brain drain despite recognizing the benefits of remittances (Docquier & Rapoport, 2012). The study recommends reforms in employment, education, and diaspora engagement policies to address migration drivers while harnessing its developmental potential. These insights contribute to the discourse on youth mobility and economic sustainability in emerging economies like Bangladesh

    Évaluation des précipitations et des températures moyennes annuelles de 2021 à 2100 du bassin versant de la Loka (Centre de la Côte d’Ivoire)

    La présente étude évalue l’impact du changement climatique sur les ressources en eau du bassin versant de la Loka à l’aide d’un ensemble de 14 modèles Cordex-Africa à travers les scénarii RCP 8.5 et RCP 4.5. Les simulations d’une période future (2021-2100) aux observations historiques (1981- 2005) ont permis d’analyser le signal de changement climatique projeté sur le bassin versant de la Loka. Les données simulées par les modèles climatiques ont été corrigées avec la méthode de calcul de biais et celle du << Delta >>. Les modèles Cordex-Africa projettent une baisse de la pluie allant de 6, 02 à 9, 01% (scénario RCP4.5) et de 5,58 à 7,29% (scénario RCP8.5) de 2021 à 2100. Tandis qu’on observe une hausse de la température de 1,50 à 2,60°C (scénario RCP4.5) et de 1,84 à 3,04°C (scénario RCP8.5) de 2021 à 2100.   This study assesses the impact of climate change on the water resources of the Loka watershed using a set of 14 Cordex-Africa models through the RCP 8.5 and RCP 4.5 scenarios. Simulations for a future period (2021-2100) compared to historical observations (1981-2005) allowed for the analysis of the projected climate change signal on the Loka watershed. Data simulated by the climate models were corrected using the bias calculation method and the "Delta" method. The Cordex-Africa models project a decrease in rainfall ranging from 6.02 to 9.01% (RCP4.5 scenario) and from 5.58 to 7.29% (RCP8.5 scenario) from 2021 to 2100, while an increase in temperature of 1.50 to 2.60°C (RCP4.5 scenario) and 1.84 to 3.04°C (RCP8.5 scenario) is observed from 2021 to 2100

    Generative AI in Accounting Publishing: A Bibliometric and Thematic Analysis of Author Guidelines with Governance and Ethical Considerations

    This study addresses a gap in accounting scholarship by examining how journals listed in the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) Journal Quality List approach the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in scholarly publishing. We employed a two-phase methodology: a structured bibliometric review to map journal characteristics and a thematic content analysis to interpret AI-related author guidelines. Ninety-one A*, A, and B-ranked journals classified under Accounting (FoR 3501) were examined. The findings revealed inconsistent expectations across the discipline due to fragmented journal policies on AI use. This fragmented policy landscape creates ethical ambiguities and challenges for authors, editors, and institutions seeking to ensure responsible and transparent research practices. To address these gaps, the study proposes a governance-oriented framework for responsible AI use in accounting publishing. The framework includes: (1) standardised disclosure protocols for AI-assisted content, (2) criteria distinguishing acceptable from unacceptable AI applications, (3) procedures for identifying and managing potential misuse, and (4) integration of AI ethics into editorial and peer review practices. By aligning journal policies with principles of transparency, accountability, fairness, and integrity, the framework supports the development of coherent, discipline-specific standards. This research contributes to the advancement of ethical scholarship and informs broader discussions on AI governance in academic and professional contexts

    Assessment of Knowledge and Implementation of AgroEnvironmental Techniques by Farmers in Kanyameshi and Mimbulu Villages, peri-Urban Area of Lubumbashi, HautKatanga Democratic Republic of Congo

    Agriculture plays a central role in socioeconomic development, especially in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where it employs about 70% of the population. However, dominant agricultural practices negatively impact the environment, threatening biodiversity and ecosystems. This study aims to promote resilient family farming in the peri-urban area of Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga. It evaluates farmers' knowledge and implementation of agro-environmental techniques to mitigate climate change effects. Based on surveys and direct observations of 150 farmers in Kanyameshi and Mimbulu villages, results show that crop association, rotation and manure pits are the most practiced techniques (38%), while agroforestry and biological control are nearly absent. Knowledge of these techniques is closely linked to their perceived impact on climate, environment and agricultural productivity. Although 47% of farmers believe these practices moderately improve farm performance and profitability. The overall awareness remains low. This highlights the need to intensify agro-environmental practices to strengthen family farming resilience

    Organizational Modes and Water Service Performance: A 1995–2025 Meta-Analysis and Implications for PPPs and Regional Multiservice Companies (SRMs) in Morocco

    Across LMICs, water governance varies; Morocco combines public régies, ONEE, delegated PPPs, and new SRMs, complicating evidence on “what works”. Following PRISMA, a meta-analysis (1995–2025; 173 studies; 742 effects) harmonized efficiency, access, quality, equity, environmental, and governance outcomes with moderators. Pooled results favor PPP/delegated modes for efficiency (g≈0.22) and modestly for access and quality; equity tends negative; environmental effects are near zero. Regulatory capacity, KPI breadth, and yardstick competition strengthen performance; ownership alone is not decisive. In Morocco, SRM regionalization should embed transparent benchmarking and social tariffs to balance efficiency with inclusion

    Analyse des effets de la sédentarité professionnelle liée au travail sur écran dans une industrie alimentaire du Mali

    Introduction : La posture sédentaire prolongée est très répandue dans le milieu professionnel et constitue une menace pour la santé. L’objectif de cette étude était d’analyser ses effets sur la santé dans une industrie alimentaire au Mali. Méthodologie : Il s’agissait d’une étude descriptive, prospective et analytique réalisée du 11 octobre au 20 novembre 2024. Elle concernait le personnel occupant des postes de travail sur écran. Les données ont été recueillies à l’aide d’un questionnaire puis saisies et analysées sur le logiciel EPI Info. Le test de Khi2 a été utilisé pour le test de dépendance. Le lien est considéré significatif si p inférieur à 0,05. Résultats : Au total, 170 travailleurs ont été inclus dont 81,2% d’hommes. L’âge moyen était de 41 ans (± 8 ans). Le temps moyen journalier cumulé en position sédentaire était de 4 heures (± 2). La moyenne de l’IMC des travailleurs était de 25,5 kg/m2 (±4,3). L’HTA (24,1%), les TMS (6,5%), les troubles oculaires (16,5%) et les troubles du sommeil (8,3%) étaient répertoriés. La sédentarité au poste de plus de 5 heures avait un lien significatif avec l’obésité, les troubles du sommeil, le tour de taille élevé et l’IMC élevé (p<0,05). Conclusion : Cette étude met en évidence les effets négatifs de la sédentarité prolongée au travail sur la santé. Elle prouve la nécessité de mettre en place des mesures préventives pour faire face à cette menace.   Introduction: Prolonged sedentary posture is widespread in the workplace and poses a threat to health. The objective of this study was to analyze its effects on health in a food industry in Mali. Methodology: This was a descriptive, prospective, and analytical study conducted from October 11 to November 20, 2024. It involved staff working at computer workstations. Data were collected using a questionnaire, then entered and analyzed using EPI Info software. The chi-square test was used to test for dependence. The association was considered significant if p < 0.05. Results: A total of 170 workers were included, 81.2% of whom were men. The mean age was 41 years (± 8 years). The mean cumulative daily time spent in a sedentary position was 4 hours (± 2). The mean BMI of the workers was 25.5 kg/m² (± 4.3). Hypertension (24.1%), musculoskeletal disorders (6.5%), eye disorders (16.5%), and sleep disorders (8.3%) were recorded. Sedentary behavior at work for more than 5 hours was significantly associated with obesity, sleep disorders, large waist circumference, and high BMI (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study highlights the negative effects of prolonged sedentary behavior at work on health. It demonstrates the need to implement preventive measures to address this threat

    Effects of organic fertilizers and tillage on yield and its components of three varieties of Corchorus olitorius L. produced in South Benin

    The intensive use of chemicals is depleting the soil in Benin, limiting crop yields in general, but in particular vegetable crops and more specifically Corchorus olitorius. This study aims to evaluate the influence of organic fertilizer and tillage on the agro-morphological characteristics of three varieties of corete. A split plot device in 02 repetitions, the main factor of which is the dose of organic fertilizer at 08 levels, was installed at two different sites, one of which is frequently plowed and the other of which has not been exploited during the last 5 years. The data collected during the trial were entered and processed in the Excel 2016 spreadsheet and subjected to various analyses including descriptive statistics, and analysis of variance with the Statitica software. The principal component analysis was performed with R 4.2.1 software and identified characters that are controlled by the treatments applied. The performance of the different varieties was assessed in the different study environments. The results show that soil amendment with varying doses of organic fertilizers associated with soil types improves the agro-morphological parameters of the plant. This combination makes the nutrients available. Thus, organic fertilizer is a significant fertilizer capable of improving soil fertility. The use of organic fertilizers contributes to the improvement of soil status and crop yields through organic fertilization

    Facteurs socioculturels influençant l'utilisation et la gestion des eaux thermales dans la province du Sud-Kivu, en Republique Democratique du Congo (RDC)

    Le présent travail a pour objet d’étudier les facteurs limitant l’utilisation et la gestion durable des sources thermales au Sud-Kivu. Il se fixe comme objectifs : - évaluer les facteurs socio-cultures et sanitaires des usagers des eaux thermales, -identifier les croyances entravant la gestion durable de ces eaux, et enfin, -évaluer le niveau d'implication des pouvoirs publics dans la gestion durable des sites thermaux. En plus, il est du type ethnographique consistant à examiner les facteurs socioculturels et institutionnels qui influencent l’utilisation et la gestion des sources thermales dans la province du Sud-Kivu, en RDC. La méthodologie utilisée porte sur une enquête menée dans les six sites thermaux auprès de 380 usagers locaux ciblés et choisis aléatoirement. En outre, la méthode qualitative basée sur les interviews a été utilisée auprès de 4 responsables des institutions publiques ayant en charge la gestion des ressources hydrauliques et la santé au Sud-Kivu. Les données collectées à partir du mois de mai en octobre 2024 ont été analysées grâce au logiciel STATA, ainsi nous avons utilisé le test de Chi² de Pearson pour calculer l’OR, la P-Value, la régression logistique et le test d’ANOVA pour comprendre les liens entre les divers paramètres retenus. L’étude a abouti aux résultats selon lesquels: les femmes sont légèrement majoritaires (50, 3%).Ensuite, les jeunes adultes de 18 à 41 ans prédominent (32,9%), les analphabètes ont un taux élevé (34, 2%).Mais, le test a prouvé que ceux ayant un niveau d'étude élevé sont moins susceptibles d'utiliser les eaux thermales (OR = 0,695, p = 0,016), les agriculteurs prédominent (35,8%) ce qui justifie le caractère rural des sites thermaux étudiés. Quant aux croyances, la perception de l’eau thermale comme un "don de Dieu" ou un "héritage des ancêtres ». Elle est perçue comme des opportunités et des obstacles à la gestion durable des eaux thermales, etc. Le niveau d’implication des institutions publiques est faible par le fait de l'absence d'un cadre réglementaire spécifique, pas de cadre institutionnel et de maintenances inadéquates.   The present work aims to study the factors limiting the use and sustainable management of thermal springs in South Kivu. It sets the following objectives: - evaluate the socio-cultural and health factors of thermal water users, - identify the beliefs hindering the sustainable management of these waters, and finally, - assess the level of public authorities' involvement in the sustainable management of thermal sites. Additionally, it is of an ethnographic type, consisting of examining the socio-cultural and institutional factors that influence the use and management of thermal springs in the South Kivu province, in the DRC. The methodology used involves a survey conducted at the six thermal sites with 380 targeted and randomly selected local users. Furthermore, the qualitative method based on interviews was used with 4 officials from public institutions responsible for managing hydraulic resources and health in South Kivu. The data collected from May to October 2024 were analyzed using the STATA software, and we used the Pearson Chi² test to calculate the OR, the P-value, logistic regression, and the ANOVA test to understand the relationships between the various parameters considered. The study concluded with the results indicating that women are slightly in the majority (50.3%). Next, young adults aged 18 to 41 predominated (32.9%), and the illiterate population had a high rate (34.2%). But, the test proved that those with a higher level of education are less likely to use thermal waters (OR = 0.695, p = 0.016), and farmers predominate (35.8%), which justifies the rural character of the studied thermal sites. Regarding beliefs, the perception of thermal water as a "gift from God" or an "inheritance from ancestors." It is perceived as both an opportunity and obstacle to the sustainable management of thermal waters, etc. The level of involvement of public institutions is low due to the absence of a specific regulatory framework, no institutional framework, and inadequate maintenance
