Purpose: This study highlights the significance of sustainable agriculture and delves into the views of women farmers on climate change and their aspirations to adopt sustainable farming practices.   Theoretical framework: The opportunity comes in creating fresh methods, abilities, and interventions that foster innovation. The challenge is figuring out ways to mitigate its effects and search for alternatives. Women farmers in particular need creative behaviour and decision-making power to adapt to climate change since they face resource, cultural, societal, and personal constraints.   Design/methodology/approach: To better understand how farmers think about climate change, sustainable agriculture, and related topics, we conducted structured, open-ended interviews with them. Twenty-six female farmers in the Himalayan state of Sikkim were chosen using convenience sampling. Qualitative data analysis tools were used to analyse the interview data. A web-based tool was used for sentiment analysis, which also contributed to identifying the themes.   Findings: Positive sentiments were identified in the use of organic farming for sustainable agriculture. Most respondents believed that government support is required for large-scale use of organic farming. The respondents also acknowledged the positive effects of vermicomposting. The analysis showed that vermicomposting provides good health and growth to plants and crops. Resilient crop selection was identified as a method that assists in standing against weather fluctuations.   Research, Practical & Social Implications: Crop selection based on seasons is vital for good yields. The thematic analysis also presented a positive response toward applying crop rotation, intercropping, and companion cropping. Compared to women with lower decision-making and inventive skills, women with these traits embraced more sustainable agricultural practises.   Originality/Value: Giving women in agriculture greater autonomy will thereby enhance the adoption of sustainable agricultural techniques, so enhancing food security and reducing climate change. This outcome will help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of gender equality and climate action set by the United Nations

The policymakers are required to take strategic efforts for internal control system reform in the LGs to reduce the likelihood of corruption by irresponsible local authorities.   Originality/value: The study fills the limitation in Indonesian corruption literature by providing one of the earliest empirical investigation that  comprehensive covers the whole Indonesian regions. The Impact of Macroeconomic Variables on the Performance of Islamic Banks: an Empirical Study

    Get PDF
Purpose: The study examines the impact of macroeconomic variables (economic growth, public debt growth, inflation, foreign direct investment, and balance of payments) on the performance of Islamic banks (return on assets, return on equity, and return on equity).   Theoretical framework:  These economic changes have also reduced the level of working capital in financial institutions, including Islamic banks, making it difficult for them to determine the best course of action (Kotz, 2009).   Design/methodology/approach:   The study used multiple linear regression analyses of periodic data for Jordanian Islamic banks in Jordan during the period (2007-2021).   Findings:  The findings demonstrated a positive correlation between macroeconomic factors and performance, except for foreign direct investments, which have a negative effect on performance because they require the use of external financial resources. This means that the country's use of expansionary fiscal policy or expansionary monetary policy leads to better performance.   Research, Practical & Social implications: The researcher points out that the government should use an expansionary fiscal and monetary policy, and foreign investors should use the funds of Islamic banks in financing and investments to improve the performance of Islamic banks.   Originality/value:  The performance of Islamic banks will improve despite the high rates of inflation, public debt and balance of payments, and the decline in foreign direct investment

    Get PDF
Purpose: Companies distributing non-subsidized fertilizers should pay attention to farmers' buying interest to optimize the variables influencing purchasing decisions.   Theoretical framework: Efforts to market non-subsidized fertilizer products require the right strategy, including those related to price, product quality, and promotion, to attract potential buyers and purchase products as consumers from the company.   Design/methodology/approach: This study analyses the direct effect of price, product quality, and promotion on purchasing decisions at the Mega Eltra Makassar branch company and the moderating effect of the purchase intention variable. This quantitative research uses questionnaires to 200 respondents whose data were processed using SmartPLS 4.   Findings: The results showed that price and promotion directly or moderated by purchase intention could not significantly influence consumer purchasing decisions for non-subsidized fertilizers. Product quality directly affects the decision to buy non-subsidized fertilizers; however, it is not significant if buying interest is a moderating variable.   Research, Practical & Social implications: Consumers of non-subsidized fertilizer Mega Eltra Makassar company Branch is the population in this study whose details cannot be known with certainty because the records at the company only include the number of products sold and their turnover.   Originality/value: This study concludes that the quality of the fertilizer influences the decision to purchase non-subsidized fertilizer from farmers compared to the offer or promotion price. Interest in buying non-subsidized fertilizers still needs to guarantee the purchase decision-making process
