As the Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges-Center for Research and Development (CSPC-CRD) achieves its goal of publishing volumes quarterly with the Editorial Board, we present Volume 2, Issue 1: March 2022 of the Journal of Education, Management and Development Studies (JEMDS). The fourteen articles in this issue span education, the environment and natural resources, health sciences, social and behavioral sciences, public management, business management, entrepreneurship, and gender and development. Also, this includes research on sustainable development from interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary viewpoints at the regional, national, and international levels. We strive for engagement and accessibility; with this, we are still an open-access journal. The journal can be used without asking the publisher or the author's permission and is free to use as a research resource. We make one of the most accessible research procedures available to everyone by doing this. This journal keeps expanding its reach abroad. This achievement is demonstrated by the volume of papers written by foreign authors. We regularly perform a double-blind evaluation of the submitted articles to adhere to the standard as we establish our credibility in this industry.  In the academic world, our standing and exposure are growing. We further reassure our researchers that the editorial process is being conducted, and the papers are reviewed and improved to offer excellent content. The CSPC-CRD promises to develop its operations over time to deliver a high-quality journal that can keep up with modernization

One of the language communication challenges is how it works as speakers use it. Some words may not change their semantic meaning, but when it is meant to say on speaker’s intention, it impacts the context; these particles are discourse markers. It has been used in everyday interaction, face-to-face communication, writing, and an online environment. This compels the researcher to investigate further the occurrences of the discourse markers in Buhînën People in an online community. This study centralized how discourse markers maintain their status of cohesion and interpersonal in computer-mediated communication. This qualitative study was based on Gustilo and Palacio’s (2016) study on discourse particles. Discourse markers were categorized into two: textual and relational categories. The corpus of 2,000 Facebook posts, primarily texts, was the data collected from the most numbered population on the Facebook online group of Buhînëns. Then, the survey was conducted to gather data about the pragmatic relation of relational discourse markers. The data revealed that the most hits were the discourse marker ‘na’ for the textual category, whereas ‘po’ for the relational category. It also revealed that more textual discourse markers were found. The functions proved the idea of metalingual function (Maschler & Schiffrin, 2015), as it has many functions in both categories, including the micro-function of relational discourse markers. Furthermore, the study also answered the importance of the discourse markers in pragmatics and computer-mediated communication, through which they served both their primary roles as structural and interpersonal

Concealed Automated Trash Bin with Shredder for Solid Wastes

The common difficulty in populated developing countries like the Philippines is inappropriate waste management practices. The improper use of waste bins and waste segregation are some of those. One of the major causes is the irresponsibility of the people. As expected, the consequences are environmental and health risks experienced by people. The countermeasure to minimize these risks is the solution proposed by people, particularly the development of an automated segregation system. The waste bins are designed to be concealed to conserve space, slow down the decomposition rate and reduce the foul odor of waste. The design is fully automated to minimize direct contact with the waste. The classifying section is capable of collecting and segregating waste using a gripper, servo motors, ultrasonic, capacitive, and photoelectric sensors. To conserve power, the segregated waste is held in a storage bin prior to shredding. Shredded waste is routed to their respective transport bins for collection after shredding. The ultrasonic sensors provide data about the capacity of the transport bins and allow the GSM module to send an SMS informing the concerned authority regarding the bins’ status. These messages facilitate easier waste collection. Two tests were conducted to determine the performance of the prototype: response-time and garbage level detection tests. The result shows that the prototype performed well and can successfully achieve the desired function. It took 23.745 and 2.711 seconds to collect and segregate the waste, respectively. Likewise, the monitoring system successfully expedited the checking of the waste bins. However, it is recommended to include quality of output and SMS delay tests. These tests can improve the overall performance of the prototype

Existing evidence suggests that adverse effects are numerous after a traumatic event. This research aims to validate that by revealing the lived experiences of trauma survivors over the span of two years. A descriptive phenomenological approach was used to accomplish this goal. For data collection, face-to-face and virtual semi-structured interviews were used. The researchers interviewed thirteen parents who had tragically lost a child due to homicide, murder, suicide, or a traffic accident. Four themes appear to emerge, with 17 subthemes. The five subthemes of hurting are behavioral dysfunction, affective destruction, biological pain, cognitive disruption, and interpersonal conflict. Meanwhile, coping has five subthemes: emotion-focused, social interaction-focused, digital-focused, behavior-focused, and cognitive-focused. The growing theme is composed of five subthemes: interpersonal enhancement, life appreciation, spiritual growth, parenting actualization, and insight imparting. The remembering theme is divided into two themes, the presence, and absence of the deceased child. Though limited, this study can nonetheless serve as the country's first to focus on grief by traumatic loss. It will serve as additional knowledge in the fields of psychotraumatology, thanatology, positive psychology, and suicidology in the Philippines. Clinicians and other mental health care providers would benefit from the information based on their own experiences as grieving parents. Additionally, research ideas are provided. Indeed, this paper proves that a survivor can not just experience the negative impacts but also grow personally from one of the most traumatic events in human experience

This study aimed to develop a healthier version of the empanada by using rabbit meat (lapan) and to determine its consumer acceptability through empanada stuffed with rabbit meat (lapanada). An experimental research design was used to evaluate the product using a 9-category Hedonic scale method to be selected by thirty (30) semi-trained panelists from Bulacan Agricultural State College.Deep fat frying and baking methods were used in the development of the product, with three (3) different percentages of lapan meat being used as the main ingredient of "lapanada". The study revealed that in terms of crust, the baking method was slightly more acceptable than deep-fat frying. In terms of meat filling, 50\% of lapan meat was the most acceptable. Analysis of variance on attributes of fillings in terms of appearance has no significant difference with the methods used. However, in terms of aroma, savory, and mustiness, the fillings were significant and highly significant to the baked method of cooking "lapanada." Also, in terms of texture, the results showed that there was no significant difference with its methods used. The result of the study was a product pioneer or bearer of BASC when it comes to utilizing rabbit meat (lapan) as the main ingredient of the food product. Standard procedures for Lapanada processing were subjected to intellectual property protection to ensure secrecy of the process and trade product. It is recommended to conduct further studies for the shelf-life test and nutrient analysis of "lapanada" to establish the credibility of the product in terms of microbiological characteristics and nutritive value. Market research must be conducted to establish empirical data as a benchmark for future improvements

Historical sites are a deep cultural heritage element that expresses the city's identity and its ancient life. Most cities have a long-civilized history, and the aspects of modern cities rely on it. However, some historical sites remained clear within the components of modern cities, so they became distinctive landmarks and points of attraction for local visitors and tourists, even becoming essential places for recreation and changing the routine of contemporary life. The moving from a historical site to the elements of a modern city needs a deliberate natural planning gradation. The landscape and gardens were the most appropriate for this transition in some places, acting as a natural separator between these two time periods and attractive places for visitors. This research presents the importance and impact of historical and archaeological sites on the inhabitants of the modern city, the behaviors and experiences of visitors as they move from busy city life and modern-day technology to ancient, nostalgic places. And how the parks and surrounding areas of the archaeological site helped integrate modern civil society with the image of the old city. Through a case study in Amman / Jordan, "The Roman Amphitheater and Amman citadel, a special questionnaire was conducted to find out the visitors' opinions, feelings, and behaviors of infamous sites in Amman. As a result of the study and questionnaire and specific questions, the historical sites have a significant emotional, psychological, and even spatial position for visitors to cities. They prefer them to the rest of the town

Quaternary Ammonium Based Compound Improves Interfacial Bond and Hydrophobicity of Coirpith-Cement Composite

Coir pith is a coconut waste derived from the extraction of coconut fiber that accounts for 70% of total husk. With an estimated 6.7 million husks produced in the Philippines annually, a large fraction of waste known as coir pith is left to rot, thrown or burned. Coir pith in cement board composite is applicable as insulation and a light indoor construction material due to its high-water absorption properties and less strength. The study sought to solve the high-water absorption problem while aiming at improving the strength and durability of the composite that will meet the needs for indoor and outdoor construction materials. According to the study's findings, QUAC increases the hydrophobicity of coir pith-cement composites, improves interfacial bonds, and has the potential for light indoor and outdoor construction
