Google Classroom as a Tool of Support for Flexible Learning in the New Normal

The global crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic affected all areas of life significantly paving the way to the new normal set-up. In response, the higher education system in the Philippines opted to implement flexible learning as its delivery model. Flexible learning unlocked critical areas in redesigning the pre-pandemic learning and teaching paradigm, one of which is the deployment of learning management systems or online platforms to contribute to the effective implementation of flexible learning. The present study attempts to explore Google Classroom’s potentials and acceptability as a tool of support to flexible language learning and teaching. A survey questionnaire was given to a group of 44 university students who completed the Purposive Communication course. Using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) analysis of data, the findings revealed that the majority of the students agreed that Google Classroom could provide accessibility, utility, and students’ satisfaction. Similarly, students agreed it could support communication and interaction and instruction delivery in flexible learning. Further, a qualitative-inductive approach using thematic analysis of the open-ended question in the survey questionnaire revealed that Google Classroom supports flexible language learning through the following: (a) easy monitoring of tasks, assignments, projects, and announcements; (b) excellent storage of learning materials (ex. backup files); (c) motivates students to manage time; and (d) motivates students to perform well. Therefore, it occurs that Google Classroom, as an educational interactive tool, has the potential to contribute to the effective delivery of flexible language teaching and learning, provided that responsive and timely faculty guidance is in place

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the Quality Management System (QMS) of Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges (CSPC) as an ISO 9001-2015 certified state college and identify the benefits derived by the college along with its certification. Process owners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and students' perceptions were validated using weighted mean and rank order statistical designs. The study revealed that they were satisfied with the customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach, continual improvement, evidence-based decision-making, and systematic approach to management. As a result of the ISO certification of the college, it gained a positive image to the community and raised to competitors' level or even at a higher level, increased the quality of services, and raised staff awareness were among the positive remarks of the college stakeholders. As an ISO-certified institution, the college was able to identify difficulties early on, allowing for swift solutions to avoid repeating mistakes and achieving local, national, and international quality recognition. As an ISO-certified institution, the college was able to identify difficulties early on, allowing for swift solutions to avoid repeating mistakes and achieving local, national, and international quality recognition. There is no significant difference in perceived satisfaction among the three groups of respondents, according to Freidman's test. Although the analysis reveals a high level of satisfaction, a proposed suggestion will make the college's QMS more vibrant and value-adding

Formative assessment plays a vital role in the delivery of quality and relevant education among learners. Data derived from the assessment results provide pieces of evidence for teachers to determine learners who need assistance, advance instructional objectives, track learners’ progress toward those standards, and identify what intervention and support are required. This descriptive-survey research examined the impact of exit slips in predicting intermediate pupils’ science achievement. Seventy-three pupils were involved in the study who were selected through a total sampling. Weighted mean, ranking, standard deviation, mean percentage score, frequency, Pearson correlation coefficient, and coefficient of determination were utilized to process and analyze statistically the data using SPSS. The findings of the study highlighted that exit slips can help learners in their learning since they reflect pupils’ understanding and increase accountability among them. The results revealed that there was a high positive association between the self-rating report and the academic performance of the respondents. The impact of self-reported rating was found significant on the performance of the pupils. Hence, when teachers took necessary and relevant remediation as well as enrichment based on the self-reported rating, academic performance may be improved. It was recommended that teachers may adapt the use of exit slips in their classes to improve academic performance among learners

As a result, we have the opportunity to collaborate with academics from throughout the country and around the world. We attribute these accomplishments to the authors who entrusted the journal in publishing their ground-breaking research and were patient as their publications were revised. The editorial board, which established extensive protocols to examine the research in a double-blind approach, has also contributed to the sustained success of the journal. The journal is beneficial for sharing information about new research in the fields of education, management, and development studies. The journal is recognized as a genuine reference since the published papers maintain quality and give a more detailed description of the work, notably in the analysis and discussion sections. Their validity, relevance, significance, and distinctiveness are all supported by a peer-review process. On behalf of the Editorial Team of the Journal of Education, Management and Development Studies, it is always our pleasure to serve the academic and professional community through this medium in delivering high-quality papers which contribute to the body of knowledge.
