Natural disasters in the form of floods and erosion in remote area road networks pose challenges for the government. The involvement of community-based disaster management can make it easier for stakeholders to carry out disaster mitigation intelligently. Digital technology can provide information about disaster conditions and facilitate coordination between related parties in managing floods and landslides. This research aims to explore the cultural understanding of the local community to encourage community-based involvement in optimizing road infrastructure services that have been disrupted due to floods and landslides. This qualitative research method uses data from surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and in-depth interviews. Several community leaders, non-government organizations, and the government became sources of data and discussions. The research results are divided into four main results: 1) Based on exploring the cultural understanding of the local community about disasters, the community is very concerned about road safety and accessibility. Communities in the road network area have also understood the causes of floods and landslides that can disrupt road functions; 2) Culturally, the community is accustomed to and actively involved in disaster preparedness; 3) Hereditarily, the community has been an essential part of the disaster mitigation process; 4) The community feels comfortable using social media platforms to accelerate community communication in disaster mitigation and handling

Broadband HMSIW antenna using a demi hexagonal ring slot for X-band application

    No full text
Microstrip antennas offer several advantages, including small size, easy fabrication, controllable polarity and radiation patterns, and easy integration with other components. These qualities make microstrip antennas more reliable than other antenna types. However, they also have limitations, such as lower radiation efficiency and narrow bandwidth, primarily due to the thin substrate thickness. Substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) is a type of microstrip antenna. SIW antennas come in two forms: one with a rectangular shape, typically designed as a slot, and the other in the form of a horn. However, SIW slot antennas face challenges with narrow impedance bandwidth due to the thin substrate, unlike conventional bulky hollow waveguides. The half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) slot antenna, which is a 50% miniaturized version of the SIW slot antenna, also suffers from reduced fractional bandwidth, resulting from the miniaturization and the thin substrate. This paper focuses on enhancing the bandwidth of HMSIW antennas by incorporating a demi-hexagonal ring slot. The broadband impedance bandwidth simulation (27.36%) is achieved through triple resonance frequencies to address the issue of narrow impedance bandwidth. Both the simulation results and measurements show consistency, with the measured impedance bandwidth ranging from 8.91 to 12.62 GHz (34.46%), demonstrating at least triple resonance frequencies

    No full text
This study highlights the potential of GGBFS as an additive to speed up cement hydration, improve cement durability, and lessen the environmental impact of more widely used cement. This study aims to analyze the effect of varying percentages of GGBFS on the setting time of mortar. We chose GGBFS as an additive because of its environmentally friendly properties and its efficiency in enhancing the mechanical characteristics of mortar. This study uses an experimental method with variations in the GGBFS composition of 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%. We conducted laboratory tests using a Vicat apparatus on 12 samples to measure the initial and final setting times and analyze the slump value. The research results show that the addition of GGBFS significantly affects the setting time of the mortar. A GGBFS composition of 10% resulted in the fastest initial setting time (145 minutes) and the fastest final setting time (245 minutes), compared to the control without GGBFS. (215 menit dan 315 menit). Slump testing indicates that GGBFS reduces the slump value by up to 20% (8.7 cm) but increases at a 30% composition. (11.3 cm). ANOVA analysis shows a significant effect with a calculated F-value (12.14) greater than the F-table (4.07)

The influence of Silane Coupling Agent and porogen ratio on 3D scaffold PCL/HA

    No full text
The design of scaffold based on polycaprolactone (PCL) and hydroxyapatite (HA) has attracted attention as a solution for bone tissue regeneration. However, the main challenge in its development is the difficulty in achieving an optimal balance between porosity and mechanical strength. Suboptimal porosity limits the scaffold ability to support cell proliferation, and weak mechanical properties result in the scaffold being less than optimal as a load-bearing implant material during the bone cell regeneration process. This study aims to address these issues by evaluating the effects of the silane coupling agent 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) and the porogen ratio (NaCl) on the mechanical properties, morphology, and biodegradation of PCL-HA-based 3D scaffold. The scaffold were synthesized using the solvent casting/particulate leaching (SCPL) method with varying APTES concentrations (1%, 3%, and 5%) and porogen ratios. (4:1, 6:1, and 8:1). The results of characterization show that the addition of 1% APTES increases compressive strength by 283% and tensile strength by 138% compared to scaffold without APTES. A higher porogen ratio (8:1) results in the highest porosity of 78.16%, but reduces mechanical strength by 84%. The optimal combination was found in scaffold with 1% APTES and a porogen ratio of 4:1, which have optimal mechanical strength, porosity of 69.65%, and a biodegradation time of up to 380 days. This research offers a comprehensive solution to enhance the properties of PCL-HA based 3D scaffold, making a significant contribution to the development of materials for bone tissue engineering applications.

Comprehensive seismic evaluation of existing buildings using ASCE 41-17 standards

    No full text
This study addresses the lack of comprehensive seismic evaluations for eight-story reinforced concrete buildings in high-seismic zones, such as Jakarta, using the ASCE 41-17 standard. The research evaluates the seismic performance of a 35-year-old office building through a tiered analysis approach, including Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. The study aims to identify structural deficiencies and propose retrofitting measures to meet modern seismic standards. Defects in soft story behavior and overturning stability were among the five and fourteen items in the Tier 1 assessment that showed noncompliance. In Tier 2, linear analysis revealed critical ductility demands, with Demand-to-Capacity Ratios (DCR) exceeding permissible limits in most structural elements. The nonlinear pushover analysis conducted in Tier 3 revealed an insufficient structural capacity to withstand high seismic loads. Maximum inter-story drifts in the X and Y directions were 2.321% and 2.319%, respectively, surpassing Life Safety standards. The findings indicate that the building's seismic performance falls between the Life Safety and Collapse Prevention levels, emphasizing the urgent need for retrofitting to enhance its resilience. This research presents a comprehensive framework for integrating global standards and local seismic conditions to enhance the safety and performance of existing structures in high-risk areas
