The approach of minimum angle method by considering the tangent of the angle between the lines joining the points (AQL, 1-α) and (LQL, β).     An Optimum Inventory Policy for Exponentially Deteriorating Items, Considering Multi Variate Consumption Rate with Partial Backlogging

    Customer purchasing deeds may be affected by factors such as selling price and inventory level instead of demand which is considered either constant or function of a single variable which is not feasible. Consequently, in the present study, we have considered the demand rate as a function of stock-level and selling price both. In the present study, in order to develop this model, it has been assumed that items are exponentially decaying and shortages are partially backlogged and the most realistic backlogging rate is considered. In this research, we proposed a partial backlogging inventory model for exponentially decaying items considering stock and selling price dependent demand rate in fuzzy environment. In developing the model demand rate, ordering cost, purchasing cost, holding cost, back ordering cost and opportunity cost are considered as triangular fuzzy numbers. Graded mean integration representation method is used for defuzzification. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the problem. Sensitivity analysis of the optimal solution with respect to the changes in the value of system parameters is also discussed

    Simulated Annealing Approach onto VLSI Circuit Partitioning

    Decompositions of inter-connected components, to achieve modular independence, poses the major problem in VLSI circuit partitioning. This problem is intractable in nature, Solutions of these problems in computational science is possible through appropriate heuristics. Reduction of the cost that occurs due to interconnectivity between several VLSI components is referred to in this paper. Modification of results derived by classical iterative procedures with probabilistic methods is attempted. Verification has been done on ISCAS-85 benchmark circuits. The proposed design tool shows remarkable improvement results in comparison to the traditional one when applied to the standard benchmark circuits like ISCAS-85

    A New Attempt to Construct the Laplace Operator on Fractals

    One of the most important topics in the analysis of fractals is to construct the Laplacian. But this is actually a particular case of a wider problem – to construct geometrical objects on fractals. Currently, studied methods sometimes lead to difficult problems, require wide knowledge from different branches of mathematics or does not lead toany strict computational methods, which could be easily applied for example in engineering. In this paper, a new attempt is presented. Fractals are treated like objects from so-called differential spaces, i.e. broader category than manifolds. The usefulness of differential spaces is shown in particular fractal situations when one studies some „weird” subsets of n, which are not manifolds themselves

    Ridge regression is one of the most widely used biased estimators in the presence of multicollinearity, preferred over unbiased ones since they have a larger probability of being closer to the true parametric value. Being the modification of the least squares method it introduces a biasing parameter to reduce the length of the parameter under study.     Bènard-Marangoni Convection with Free Slip Bottom and Mixed Thermal Boundary Conditions

    The onset of cellular convection induced by surface tension gradients in a horizontal liquid layer heated from below is examined by making use of linear stability analysis for mixed thermal boundary conditions with the free-slip condition at the lower boundary. We use a combination of analytical and numerical techniques to obtain a detailed description of marginal stability curves. It is established numerically that ‘the principle of exchange of stabilities’ is valid. The numerical results are presented for a wide range of the values of the parameters characterizing the nature of thermal boundary conditions. We investigate for the first time, a situation wherein value of the parameter characterizing the thermal condition at the upper boundary varies inversely to that characterizing the thermal condition at the lower boundary, and obtained distinct ranges in which increasing values of the parameter of the lower boundary lead to formation of convection cells of increasing or decreasing size at the onset of convection
