    This paper investigates the reliability and availability analysis of a single unit system in an industry, depending on the variation in demand. Variation in demand affects the production also and hence the system may go to down state when the units produced are in excess. The system in the downstate is made operative as soon as the produced units are less in number than those demanded. Using regenerative point technique, Mean Time to System Failure, the Availabilities in both the cases i.e. when demand is greater than or equal to production and when demand is less than production has been obtained

    Solution of a Mathematical Model Describing the Change of Hormone Level in Thyroid Using the Laplace Transform

    In the present paper, a mathematical model describing the thyroid-pituitary homeostatic mechanism is analyzed for its physiological and clinical significance. The influence of different parameters on the stability behavior of the system is discussed. We have assumed in the present paper that the rate of thyrotropin production is reduced by an amount which is proportional to the blood concentration of thyroxine and also the rate of loss of thyrotropin is proportional to the existing thyrotropin concentration. The stability behavior of the system is analyzed and the possibility of occurrence of periodic solutions is looked into. As the pituitary gland can produce no output in the presence of thyroxine concentration greater than a certain value, we have also included a degenerate form of the equation for thyrotropin production in the present paper. The solutions of the system of governing equations are obtained by applying the Laplace transform. Also, the nature of the solution is interpreted graphically using the Maple12 technique for both stable and unstable behavior

    This paper pronounces a modified numerical scheme to the conventional formula of Newton-Raphson for solving the nonlinear and transcendental equations especiallythose which cannot be solved by the basic algebra. Finding the derivative of a function is difficult in some case of problems. The present formula is made with the target toaloof the need of obtaining the derivative of the function. Comparative analysis shows that the present method is faster than Newton-Raphson method, Adomian method,Rabolian method, Abbasbandy method, Basto method & Feng method. Iteration cost-effective parameters – number of iteration steps & the value of effective error is alsofound to be minimum than these methods

    Estimation of Missing Values in the Data Mining and Comparison of Imputation Methods

    Many existing, industrial, and research data sets contain missing values (MVs). There are various reasons for their existence, such as manual data entry procedures, equipment errors, and incorrect measurements. The presence of such imperfections usually requires a preprocessing stage in which the data are prepared and cleaned,in order to be useful and sufficiently clear for the knowledge extraction process. MVs make the performance of data analysis difficult. The presence of MVs can also pose serious problems for researchers. In fact, in the appropriate handling of the MVs in the analysis may introduce bias and can result in misleading conclusions being drawn from a research study and can also limit the generalize ability of the research findings. The various types of problem are usually associated with MVs in data mining are (1) loss of efficiency;(2) complications in handling and analyzing the data; and(3)  bias resulting from differences between missing and complete data. We will focus our attention on the use of imputation methods. A fundamental advantage of this approach is that the MV treatment is independent of the learning algorithm used. For this reason, the user can select the most appropriate method for each situation he faces. In this paper, different methods of estimation of missing values are discussed. The comparison of different imputation methods is given by using non-parametric methods.&nbsp

    Profit Analysis of Non-Identical Parallel System with Two Types of Failure Using Discrete Distribution

    This paper has analyzed the two non-identical operative parallel systems considering two units (automatic and manual one) by using regenerative point technique. For theautomatic unit, the concept of inspection policy has been introduced to detect the kind of failures (major or minor) before being repaired by some repair mechanism. Butthe manual unit is free from such inspection policy. Various important measures of reliability i.e MTSF, steady-state availability, a busy period of repairman and inspector,profit function has been evaluated by designing a model for the system and using discrete distribution & regenerative point techniques. Profit function and MTSF are also analyzed graphically
