In the context of the massive wave of globalization that has the potential to erode cultural identity, the field of education is required not only to serve as a medium for the transfer of knowledge, but also as a strategic instrument in preserving local cultural values. This research aims to describe: (1) the development process of locally-based listening materials for Arabic language instruction at Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Pamekasan, (2) to determine the validity of the developed materials, and (3) to assess their effectiveness in improving students’ listening skills. The research method employed in this study is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: needs analysis, product design, product development, product implementation, and product evaluation. The data collection techniques used by the researcher include observation and interviews with qualitative data analysis, while questionnaires and tests are analyzed using quantitative methods through the Likert scale and the Paired Sample t-test. The results of the study indicate that: The process of preparing the teaching materials begins with the stage of analyzing students' needs using questionnaires and teacher interviews. The teaching materials are then designed in the form of a book. The development of listening skill teaching materials based on local wisdom received a score of 94% from the material validation, 92% from the language validation, and 91% from the design validation. Regarding the effectiveness of the product, using pre-tests and post-tests, the researcher obtained a result of 53.789, which is greater than the t-value at 0.05, thus the null hypothesis Ho is rejected. This indicates a significant change after the product trial, and the teaching material is effective in improving students' Arabic listening skills

    No full text
The Supreme Court has ruled that in contested divorce cases, women are entitled to receive nafkah iddah, mut'ah, and nafkah madhiyah, provided they do not act nusyuz. However, this provision is not being effectively implemented. This study examines the fulfilment of women's rights post-contested divorce in the Malang Regency Religious Court. The goal is to identify shortcomings in implementing these regulations and propose solutions for more effective enforcement. The research employs an empirical-juridical method, using secondary data from interviews and documentation with key personnel at the Malang District Religious Court. The qualitative analysis refers to Soekanto's theory. The Findings indicate that the fulfilment of women's rights in contested divorces at the Malang Regency Religious Court is ineffective. The law is clear and understandable, and officers, judges, and staff are accountable. Furthermore, the Malang District Religious Court provides sufficient infrastructure and support. However, the unmet factors—community awareness and cultural attitudes—pose significant barriers. Low legal awareness and compliance, coupled with cultural tendencies in Malang District to avoid legal processes and seek quick resolutions, hinder effective implementation. Addressing these issues is crucial for the regulations to achieve their intended impact on women's rights post-divorce

The global transformation toward the Society 5.0 era requires the education sector, including Islamic Religious Education (PAI), to address challenges such as limited technological proficiency among educators, insufficient curriculum contextualization, and students’ character crises through the implementation of quality control strategies in PAI. This study aims to explore strategic efforts to ensure high-quality PAI in responding to the digital era of Society 5.0, with a focus on the roles of school principals, teachers, and student- and environment-based approaches. The method employed is qualitative research using a library research approach. The findings indicate that quality control strategies for PAI must be designed holistically and integratively. School principals serve as transformational leaders in strengthening institutional capacity and academic supervision. Teachers are expected to develop technology-based learning that incorporates Islamic values. Meanwhile, student-centered approaches that emphasize collaboration, digital literacy, and character development are essential to ensure the sustainability of PAI quality amid digital disruption. Thus, quality control strategies for PAI in the Society 5.0 era must reflect a synergy between spiritual values, modern pedagogy, and technological innovation

How do sustainable growth rate affect financial performance of Islamic banking? Evidence in Southeast Asia region

Background: The complexity of banking transactions demands increased competitiveness, efficiency, and risk management. The banking industry needs help in minimizing risk and increasing revenue. ASEAN countries usually measure risk through macro risk measurement, while micro performance contributes to business continuity. Sustainable growth is an essential indicator of company and shareholder performance. Purpose: This study aims to examine the elements that determine the extent of sustainable expansion and their impact on the performance of Islamic banking in Southeast Asia. Design/methodology/approach: The research hypotheses are addressed through the utilization of explanatory research. A purposive sampling method was employed to select 13 Sharia commercial banks for the study, including four from Indonesia, seven from Malaysia, one from Thailand, and one from Brunei Darussalam. The collected data were analyzed using panel data regression. Findings/Result: The study's findings demonstrate that both profit margins and retention levels significantly influence the sustainable growth of Islamic banking in Southeast Asia. Higher profit margins enhance the ability of Islamic banks to generate internal funds, leading to higher rates of sustainable development. Furthermore, an increase in the retained earnings ratio contributes to the bank's capital, while asset turnover does not significantly impact sustainable growth. Conclusion: sustainable growth has a strong positive impact on financial performance, increasing revenue and lowering operating costs, improving financial performance in the region. After increasing revenue, Islamic banking can create Shariah-based products catering to the community's needs. These products must fulfill the principles of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) to improve sustainability. It will enable future studies to incorporate ESG in assessing sustainable financial performance. Originality/value (State of the art): While SGR's impact on conventional banking has been studied extensively, research focusing on its effects on Islamic banking, particularly in the Southeast Asian context, remains limited. The study aligns with growing global interest in sustainable finance and its role in long-term financial stability, an area Islamic banking inherently emphasizes through ethical investments and risk-sharing
