Effect of ethanol extract from kepel leaves (Stelechocarpus Burahol (Bl.) Hook F. & Th.) on confluence and viability of primary mouse (Mus musculus) neuronal cells
Kepel (Stelechocarpus Burahol (Bl.) Hook F. & Th.), a plant indigenous to Indonesia, is popular for its various benefits, including anti-hyperuricemia, xanthine oxidase inhibition, anti-implantation, anticancer, antiseptic, anti inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. However, its potential as a neuroprotective agent is not well understood. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the confluence and viability of primary mouse neurons following the administration of ethanol extract from Kepel (Stelechocarpus burahol (Bl.) Hook F. & Th.) leaves. Primary neuron cell cultures were divided into four treatment groups: NT (without treatment) as a control group, T1 (50 µL of Kepel leaf extract), T2 (75 µL of Kepel leaf extract), and T3 (100 µL of Kepel leaf extract). After 48 hours of incubation, culture confluence and viability were assessed. This study approved that the ethanol extract of Kepel leaves did not significantly affect confluence compared to the control, but cell viability increased when treated with the Kepel leaf extract compared to the control

Understanding Basara in the context of educational psychology: The impact of symbol interpretation
This research is motivated by the importance of symbols in Islamic religious education, particularly the Baṣara symbol, which holds profound meaning in Islamic tradition but is rarely explored in the context of educational psychology. This study aims to understand how the Baṣara symbol is applied in religious learning and its impact on students' psychological development. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, involving teachers and students as key informants. The findings indicate that the Baṣara symbol not only teaches moral values but also influences students' emotional intelligence, enhancing empathy and emotional management. This research contributes to the understanding that Baṣara serves a dual function as a moral and psychological educational tool. Consequently, teaching methods need to be adapted to enable all students to understand this symbol more deeply, supporting their social and emotional development
Tawhid and Qur’anic interpretation in early 20th-Century Minangkabau: A philological-theological study of Abdul Latif Syakur’s al-Tawḥīd (1882–1963)
The Islamic reform movement in early 20th-century Minangkabau, West Sumatra, evolved through three phases. The first phase involved intellectual engagement, followed by military conflict, and later, modernization through education. During the third phase, scholarly production increased significantly. However, reformist literature predominantly concentrated on debates about tariqa (religious order) and fiqh (jurisprudence). Substantive discourse on tawhid (oneness of God) was absent, which forms the foundation of aqidah (creed). This study explores Abdul Latif Syakur’s al-Tawhid manuscript (1882–1963) to explore this underexamined aspect of Islamic theological discourse. Employing an integrative qualitative approach (philological-theological and historical analysis), the research explores three aspects: (1) Syakur’s construct of integrative tawhid, which synthesizes rubūbiyyah (lordship), ulūhiyyah (godship), and asmā’ wa ṣifāt (divine names and attributes); (2) his critique of shirk (associating partners with God) in both its jahiliyyah (pagan-ritualistic) and modern (secular-materialistic) forms; and (3) the role of ikhlas (sincere devotion) as a bridge between tawhidand social praxis. The findings show Syakur presents a non-polemical approach, integrating Minangkabau's local values (adat basandi syarak, or Sharia-based tradition) with Islamic doctrine. He also critiques the tendency to reduce tawhid to ritual formalism or a strict separation between religion and state. His concept of modern shirk provides valuable insights into current challenges, such as materialism and environmental issues. By integrating education and literacy at an institution informally known as Surau Si Camin, Syakur contributed to a holistic reform that emphasized the unity of aqidah, ethics, and social responsibility. This study affirms the relevance of integrative tawhid as a framework for conflict resolution and interfaith dialogue in pluralistic societies while revitalizing the intellectual legacy of Islam in the Nusantara region (the Malay-Indonesian archipelago)

Social construction of visually impaired students about the urgency of Arabic language education
This research aims to understand the social construction of visually impaired students regarding the urgency of Arabic language education at the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Arabic plays an essential role in Islamic academic fields; however, accessibility for visually impaired students in learning the language remains challenging. Using a qualitative approach, this case study explores the experiences, challenges, and perceptions of visually impaired students in relation to Arabic language learning. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with several visually impaired students and the head and staff of the Disability Services Center (PLD) at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The findings reveal that visually impaired students have a strong understanding of the urgency of Arabic, both for academic purposes and for enhancing future career opportunities. However, they also voiced various barriers, including limited support facilities and incompatible technology with their needs. This study is expected to provide insights for developing more inclusive policies in Arabic language education for visually impaired students in Islamic higher education settings
The influence of organizational commitment on Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) in employees at PT. Cita Intrans Selaras
Employees are now seen as the company's main asset and need to be nurtured to support the company's success and sustainability. PT Cita Intrans Selaras is a publishing company, and based on phenomena in the field, it can be seen that several employees fail to complete their work on time and meet company goals, so this shows that there is a lack of OCB development in the company. The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of Organizational Commitment on Organizational Citizenship Behavior in PT Cita Intrans Selaras employees. The hypothesis in this research is that organizational commitment can influence Organizational Citizenship Behavior in PT Cita Intrans Selaras employees. This research used a quantitative methodology with a total of 45 participants, PT Cita Intrans Selaras employees. The research instruments used to assess the variables in this research include the Organizational Commitment scale, modified based on Allen & Meyer's theory, and the Organizational Citizenship Behavior scale, modified based on Organ's theory. The data analysis technique used is simple regression analysis. The findings of this research show an R Square value of (0.584), which shows that Organizational Commitment has an influence of 58.4% on Organizational Citizenship Behavior, and the remaining 41.6% is influenced by other variables
A qualitative case study on productive zakat and pentahelix-based empowerment: Insights from BAZNAS Malang regency
Introduction
In Indonesia, zakat is a critical Islamic social finance instrument aimed at poverty alleviation and community empowerment. While most zakat programs remain consumptive, the shift toward productive zakat offers a sustainable approach to improving economic welfare. However, empirical studies that examine its actual implementation and governance models are still scarce, particularly within the context of local zakat institutions in Indonesia.
Objectives
This study investigates the implementation of productive zakat empowerment in Malang Regency by analyzing the role of the Pentahelix collaboration model—integrating government, academia, private sector, media, and community—in supporting the distribution and impact of zakat-based economic empowerment programs.
Method
This research adopts a qualitative case study design, focusing on BAZNAS Malang Regency as the unit of analysis. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with institutional stakeholders and triangulated with documentary analysis of zakat distribution reports from 2020 to 2024. The study utilizes an inductive analytical framework to examine how Pentahelix-based collaboration influences the effectiveness of productive zakat implementation.
Results
The findings reveal that BAZNAS Malang Regency has made substantial progress in transitioning from consumptive to productive zakat programs through initiatives such as small-business capital provision and equipment distribution. These efforts, implemented across 33 subdistricts, have led to significant economic improvements for mustahiq, with an estimated 25% increase in income levels. Moreover, the study finds that the success of these programs is closely linked to multi-sector collaboration under the Pentahelix model, although disparities in stakeholder engagement and the absence of formal mentoring and evaluation frameworks remain.
Implications
The results highlight the potential of productive zakat as a tool for sustainable poverty alleviation and economic inclusion when combined with collaborative governance. The Pentahelix model provides a viable framework for institutionalizing such efforts, though further development is needed to ensure strategic alignment, measurable impact, and long-term sustainability.
Originality/Novelty
This study contributes to the growing literature on Islamic social finance by offering an in-depth case analysis of productive zakat practices supported by multi-stakeholder collaboration in Indonesia. Students’ attitudes on gamification in English reading classes: The use of Kahoot!
This study explores students’ reflective attitudes of using Kahoot! in their reading classes, with a focus on its effects on engagement, motivation, and reading comprehension. A qualitative research design was used to collect data from ten students using semi-structured interviews and classroom observations. The findings show that Kahoot! significantly increased student engagement by making learning of reading interactive and enjoyable. Students also reported increased motivation and a more positive attitude toward reading, largely due to the game-based nature of the platform. Moreover, Kahoot! was also found to enhance reading comprehension since it assisted students focus on the important points in the text through repeated exposure and immediate feedback. The study also highlighted how Kahoot!’s encouragement of friendly competition and peer interaction contributed to a more dynamic and collaborative learning environment. Nevertheless, technical challenges were identified as a limitation, negatively impacting the platform’s overall effectiveness, particularly those pertaining to internet connectivity. These findings indicate that while Kahoot! provides significant educational benefits, its effective implementation in the classrooms depends on a stable technical infrastructure. The study enhances understanding of the role of game-based learning tools in education and suggests the need for further investigation into students’ long-term effects on academic performance
