Kahoot Gamification: Fostering Critical Thinking in Arabic Listening Comprehension

    No full text
In the era of digital transformation, education increasingly demands innovative pedagogical approaches that not only enhance language proficiency but also cultivate students’ critical thinking skills. This study explores how Kahoot gamification supports the development of critical thinking in Arabic listening comprehension. The research employed a qualitative approach with a single instrumental case study design to examine the integration of Kahoot-based learning activities and their cognitive outcomes. Data were collected through participant observation, documentation, and interviews involving 39 undergraduate students from the Faculty of Sharia, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, class of 2024. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman to identify indicators of critical thinking based on Facione’s six dimensions: interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The findings revealed that Kahoot gamification was implemented through four learning activities: song playback, simple dialogue, short film, and short story. Each activity stimulated distinct aspects of critical thinking, with song and short film activities generating the most active responses. The study suggests that Kahoot gamification may serve as an effective pedagogical tool to foster engagement and higher-order thinking in Arabic listening instruction, particularly for beginner-level learners

    No full text
This study aims to analyze and understand Al-Gazali's teachings on religious tolerance and moderation through his views on faith and unbelief as contained in his work, Fasl Al-Tafriqah Bayna Al-Islam Wa Al-Zandaqah. This research is qualitative research with a text analysis approach. The data sources in this study consist of primary and secondary data, data collection techniques using library research and text analysis, data analysis using content analysis and contextual interpretation, and data validity consisting of source triangulation and source criticism. The results of the study show that Al-Ghazali's teachings on religious tolerance and moderation, as described in Fasl al-Tafriqah bayna al-Islam wa al-Zandaqah, offer a view that rejects extremism in assessing a person's faith, while emphasizing the importance of a fair and moderate approach. Al-Ghazali asserts that the assessment of an individual's faith is the exclusive right of God, not humans. Al-Ghazali teaches that a person's beliefs should not be used as a reason to justify discrimination or violence. Al-Ghazali's teachings on tolerance and moderation are not only relevant in the context of Islamic history but also serve as a universal guide. This study is expected to contribute academically by adding to the wealth of literature related to Al-Ghazali's thoughts on religious tolerance and moderation, while also broadening our understanding of the concepts of faith and disbelief according to his views

    No full text
Knowledge is a critical factor in improving performance and achieving competitive advantage. The purpose of this study is to determine the mediating role of trust in the relationship of socialisation, knowledge, and religiosity toward employee performance in banking sector. This research is quantitative with an explanatory approach. This study surveyed 200 employees of a sharia bank in Indonesia and collected 112 respondents return the questioner. The data analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (SEM-PLS). This study confirms that socialisation and knowledge do not affect employee performance directly. Religiosity affects employee performance. Trust mediates the effect of socialisation, knowledge, and religiosity on employee performance. The study provides new evidence on trust in Islamic banking sector related to socialisation, knowledge, religiosity and employee performance. Managers in Islamic banks should strengthen internal socialisation and knowledge-sharing programs that are grounded in religious values to foster greater trust among employees. By prioritising trust-building, managers can enhance employee commitment and overall performance, creating a more cohesive and value-driven organisational culture

Negotiating Salafism: Local Muslim Identity and Religious Adaptation in Banten

    No full text
The growth of Salafism has produced persistent tensions within the syncretic Islamic identity of Banten, a region where local traditions are firmly rooted in religious beliefs and practices. This research explores how Bantenese Muslims navigate interactions between transnational Salafi teachings and inherited forms of religiosity. Drawing on qualitative fieldwork, the study reveals that younger Muslims in urban settings are more frequently exposed to Salafi interpretations through education and social networks, whereas rural communities tend to maintain long-established traditions. These uneven encounters give rise to a religious landscape that is both fragmented and adaptive. Using Berger and Luckmann’s theory of the social construction of reality, the article demonstrates how externalization, objectivation, and internalization processes shape patterns of religious negotiation. It introduces the concept of selective adaptation to illustrate how global Islamic movements intersect with, rather than displace, local religious identities. The findings show that Bantenese Muslims selectively adopt, reinterpret, or resist Salafi teachings, highlighting that religious change is context-dependent and strongly influenced by enduring local traditions

Hubungan Praktik Sholat Dengan Kesehatan Mental: Perspektif Psikologi & Islam

    No full text
This study reviews the relationship between the practice of ṣalāh (prayer) and mental health from the perspectives of modern psychology and Islamic values. A descriptive-narrative literature review was conducted, analyzing peer-reviewed studies and relevant scholarly reports published between 2020 and 2025. The findings indicate that regular, mindful prayer contributes to reductions in stress and anxiety, enhances inner calm, and strengthens psychological well-being through mechanisms such as emotion regulation, meaning-making, routine coping, and spiritual connectedness. Prayer also functions as a culturally consonant, non-pharmacological coping strategy within Muslim communities. However, the evidence is heterogeneous, and integration of religious elements into mental health practice requires culturally sensitive, evidence-based, and ethically guided approaches. Overall, consistent and reflective practice of ṣalāh can be considered a valuable component in promotive and preventive mental health efforts

Factors affecting earnings quality: The moderating role of managerial ownership

    No full text
This study examines the impact of capital structure, profitability, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and accounting conservatism on earnings quality, with managerial ownership as a moderating factor. Earnings manipulation has been carried out by directors and deputy directors of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance of approximately US$44 million, affecting the quality of earnings generated. Focusing on industrial and energy sector companies listed on the IDX from 2021 to 2023, this study uses a quantitative approach, selecting samples using purposive sampling techniques and analyzing 39 selected companies using panel data regression and MRA in E-Views. The results show that profitability and CSR negatively affect earnings quality, while capital structure and accounting conservatism have no significant impact. Managerial ownership moderates the effects of capital structure, profitability, and CSR on earnings quality but does not influence the role of accounting conservatism. The results of this study suggest that companies in the industrial and energy sectors should optimally implement CSR and accounting conservatism to attract investors, improve earnings quality, and support management and stakeholder decision-making

Designing an Eco-Literate ESP Syllabus: Integrating Sustainability and Environmental Awareness into English for Fisheries Students

    No full text
This study proposes an eco-literate ESP syllabus tailored for Fisheries Department students by integrating sustainability principles and environmental awareness into English instruction. Using the ESP course design model of Dudley-Evans and St. John (1998), the paper outlines a systematic process involving needs analysis, syllabus planning, material adaptation, and evaluation. The needs analysis highlights learners’ communicative demands in sustainability-focused contexts such as marine conservation, sustainable aquaculture, and the blue economy. The syllabus adopts content-based and task-based approaches, utilizing authentic environmental materials (e.g., research articles, policy documents, sustainability reports). Each unit centers on eco-related discourse, marine ecology vocabulary, and critical reflection on environmental ethics across reading, writing, and speaking tasks. Existing studies seldom address how environmental ethics, marine-related sustainability content, and SDG-oriented competencies can be systematically embedded into ESP courses targeting discipline-specific communication needs. This study fills that gap by proposing a structured eco-literate ESP syllabus that connects language learning with environmental responsibility in the fisheries contex
