    Hypertension and its Pathophysiology: Exploring the Role of Herbal Remedies

    Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is a prevalent and dangerous medical condition that places excessive strain on the heart and blood vessels, leading to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, stroke, and kidney failure. The pathophysiology of hypertension involves several key factors such as vasoconstriction, increased cardiac output, and impaired kidney function, all of which contribute to the elevation of blood pressure.Herbal remedies have been used for centuries in managing various health conditions, including hypertension. Numerous herbs have shown potential in helping regulate blood pressure naturally, offering an alternative or complementary treatment option to conventional pharmacological interventions. Some well-known herbs with antihypertensive effects include Garlic, Hibiscus, Ashwagandha, and Olive leaf extract. These herbs possess properties such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and vasodilatory effects, which help improve circulation, reduce stress hormones, and enhance overall cardiovascular health, thus contributing to blood pressure regulation.This abstract aims to explore the pathophysiology of hypertension and the potential role of herbal remedies in its management. While conventional antihypertensive medications are the primary treatment, emerging research suggests that combining herbal therapies with these medications may improve efficacy and reduce side effects. However, it is crucial to use herbal remedies under medical supervision to ensure safety and effectiveness. Ongoing research in the field of herbal medicine for hypertension holds promise for developing safer, more natural treatment options. Further studies are needed to better understand the long-term effects, safety profiles, and synergistic potential of herbal remedies in the management of hypertension

    Simultaneous Estimation of Ribociclib and Letrozole in Pure and Pharmaceutical Dosage Form by validated UV- VIS Spectroscopy Method

    A simultaneous UV-Visible spectrophotometric method was developed for Ribociclib and Letrozole. Both drugs showed linearity in the range of 2–10 μg/ml with correlation coefficients 0.9997 and 0.9998. Precision studies revealed %RSD < 2% for repeatability, intra-day, and inter-day precision. Accuracy results showed recoveries of 100.29% for Ribociclib and 101.16% for Letrozole, within acceptance limits (98–102%). The assay of marketed formulation confirmed values within the specification range (98–102%). LOD/LOQ values were low, confirming high sensitivity

    Over this time, biomedicine has benefited greatly from the penetration of nanotechnology, which has solved several issues and improved illness diagnosis and treatment. Early, quick, and accurate disease identification is an essential need in the field of biomedicine, as it is the first step in effectively addressing different ailments. Nanophotonics is the study of how light and matter interacts at the nanoscale. Nanomaterials have greatly enhanced the techniques used to identify and analyze biomolecules. The examples cited above include plasmonic nanomaterials, waveguides, substrates used for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), and bright materials, among other things. Multiple strategies can be used together to enable multimodal sensing. Enhancing the specificity of biosensors can be achieved by modifying the surface of nanoparticles with chemicals that are specific to the analyte. High sensitivity, high precision, multiplexing power, and portability will be achieved in the detecting sector by the application of nanophotonic techniques. Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET), usually referred to as fluorescence resonance energy transfer, and is a widely used technique in the field of molecular sensing. Evanescent wave biosensors facilitate the identification of biomolecules without the necessity of labeling. Evanescent-field biosensors may detect biomolecules on the sensor surface in real-time by measuring changes in refractive index. The aforementioned treatment offers a rapid, non-intrusive, and straightforward method for identifying illnesses. Fluorescent nanoparticles provide a practical method for detecting biomolecules.     Efficacy of Herbal Drugs and Marketed Herbal Drugs used in treatment of COVID-19: A Comprehensive Review

    The COVID-19 pandemic has fast-tracked the global search for effective and affordable therapeutic interventions, giving new impetus to herbal medicine systems like Ayurveda and TCM. These ancient systems prescribe natural remedies that confine antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects upon the body. This review highlights the efficacy of individual herbal drugs and polyherbal formulations in the treatment and management of COVID-19. Several prospective medical and scientific literature published from 2020 to 2024 have been considered for the collated literature analysis: RCTs, observational studies, clinical reports, and patent literature. Several herbal formulations showed promising results, with Lianhua Qingwen (TCM) and NRICM101 (Taiwan) notably demonstrating reduced symptom severity, shortened recovery times, and slowed progression toward serious forms of COVID-19 by angling viral replication and immune modulation. In light of these hopeful results, in general, trial designs remain inconsistent between these studies, with small sample sizes and variability in regulatory approvals; this makes generalization of the results inappropriate. This review thus highlights the need for urgent large-scale, standardized clinical trials to establish safety and efficacy. Integrating scientifically validated herbal medicines into COVID-19 management protocols could offer cost-effective, complementary treatment options, especially in resource-constrained settings, but must be guided by rigorous scientific evaluation and regulatory oversight

    Simultaneous Estimation of Aspirin and Vonoprazan in Pure and Pharmaceutical Dosage Form by UV Spectroscopy

    A simple, accurate, and precise UV-visible spectrophotometric method was developed for the simultaneous estimation of Aspirin and Vonoprazan in pure and pharmaceutical formulations. The method utilized the simultaneous equation method based on their respective absorbance maxima at 225 nm Aspirin and 247 nm Vonoprazan. Validation as per ICH Q2(R1) guidelines showed linearity over 10–50 μg/ml for Aspirin and 2–10 μg/ml for Vonoprazan, with correlation coefficients of 0.9968 and 0.9991, respectively. The method demonstrated excellent specificity, precision (%RSD < 2%), accuracy (mean recovery ~100%), and sensitivity, with low LOD and LOQ values. The developed method was successfully applied to marketed formulations with high accuracy

    EVALUATION OF ANTI-GOUT ACTIVITY OF TANGERETIN, A POLYMETHOXYLATED FLAVONE IN HYPERURICAEMIA AND ACUTE GOUTY ARTHRITIS RAT MODELS

    Background: Uric acid crystals that accumulate in the joints can develop gouty arthritis, a painful and crippling form of arthritis that results in both acute inflammation and long-term joint damage. The current therapies focus on symptom relief and uric acid level lowering. Novel therapeutic strategies, however, are required since they have fewer adverse effects and greater efficacy. The purpose of this abstract is to discuss the assessment of the therapeutic efficacy of Tangeretin in potassium oxonate-induced hyperuricemia model of Wister rats. Determination of the anti-gout activity of Tangeretin in monosodium urate (MSU)-induced gout model of Wister rats. Methods: Information on the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant capabilities of tangeretin and its influence on gout-related pathways was gathered by conducting a thorough search of the scholarly literature. Results: By blocking important inflammatory mediators and pathways such nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-B) and interleukin-1 (IL-1), tangeretin has shown anti-inflammatory effects. Additionally, its strong antioxidant qualities assist in reducing oxidative stress, a factor in the aetiology of gout. Furthermore, tangeretin has the ability to alter purine metabolism, which would lower uric acid synthesis and promote its elimination. Tangeretin is emerging as a promising therapy option for gouty arthritis because of its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and possible uric acid-regulating effects. To assess its security, effectiveness, and ideal dosage for gout patients, more study is required, including pre-clinical and clinical trials. Tangeretin could provide a fresh and supplementary strategy to the treatment of gout, enhancing the quality of life for those who experience this excruciating ailment, if it is found to be effective

    Prevalence of opportunistic infections among people living with HIV in Osogbo, Osun State

    This study aims to identify common opportunistic infections and their prevalence among people living with HIV in Osogbo, Osun state, who are receiving treatments for the HIV virus, which has spread widely. A mixed study design was employed, including a hospital-based retrospective study and a Key Informant Interview. The retrospective study involved 280 HIV patients at State Specialists Hospital Asubiaro SSHA Osogbo, Nigeria, and collected socio-demographic, opportunistic infection diagnosis, and viral load test results. The study also included a Key Informant Interview with six health workers in the HIV care unit. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square tests, while qualitative data was analyzed using a thematic approach. The study reveals that the majority of People Living with HIV are females (77.1%), with 69% unemployed and 28.6% employed. Most are married (82.5%). In 2020, 58.2% achieved viral suppression, while in 2021, 65.7% and 69% achieved it. Common opportunistic infections include tuberculosis, pruritus, oral candidiasis, and herpes zoster. The prevalence of opportunistic infections decreased from 9.0% to 7.6% between January 2020 and May 2022. The prevalence of opportunistic infections in the study was low, which is due to the high preventive measures employed by the health workers in the hospital. Hence adherence to HAART (Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy) medications helps to maintain healthy living for People living with HIV

    Fast dissolving buccal films (FDBFs) have emerged as a promising drug delivery system, offering advantages such as ease of administration, improved patient compliance, rapid drug dissolution, and potential for enhanced bioavailability. This abstract provides an overview of the future prospects of FDBFs based on ongoing research and development in the field. Future advancements in FDBFs involve improved formulation techniques, including the exploration of different polymers, excipients, and additives to optimize film integrity, drug release, and mucoadhesive properties. Additionally, the integration of nanotechnology in FDBFs is being investigated, with a focus on nanostructured films and nanocarriers to enhance drug solubility, stability, and permeability. Combination therapies within FDBFs are anticipated, allowing for the simultaneous or sequential delivery of multiple drugs, enabling personalized treatment regimens. Targeted and controlled drug delivery mechanisms, such as the incorporation of targeting ligands or stimuli-responsive systems, are being explored to achieve site-specific drug release. Furthermore, the inclusion of theranostic capabilities in FDBFs, combining therapeutic agents with diagnostic functionalities, holds promise for real-time monitoring of drug release, drug localization, and disease response. Patient-centric design considerations, including taste masking, ease of administration, and aesthetic appeal, are expected to drive future developments in FDBFs, particularly for paediatric and geriatric populations. The integration of FDBFs with digital health technologies, such as smart sensors or electronic monitoring systems, is also anticipated to revolutionize medication management and enable personalized therapy. Overall, the future of fast dissolving buccal films is promising, with ongoing research and development focused on improving formulation techniques, expanding applications, and incorporating novel technologies. These advancements have the potential to enhance drug delivery efficacy, patient compliance, and personalized therapy, ultimately improving patient outcomes

Sirmour district is a hilly and mountainous district and covering an area of 2.825 Km2. The main tribes of Sirmour district are Gujjar and language spoken is Hindi and Pahari. The few Anti-fungal herbs contain active constituent which have ability to destroy the cell wall or can reduce the growth of fungal infection. Fungal infection is a most common problem face by people and the allopathic treatment have many sides effect, so antifungal herbs are plays an important role to overcome this issue
