Arteperoxides A-C, tris-normonoterpene-sesquiterpene conjugates with peroxide-bridges from Artemisia judaica exhibiting antiosteoclastogenic activity

    Get PDF
Antiosteoclastogenic-guided screening was conducted with 120 extracts of the medicinal plants collected in Egypt that led to the selection of Artemisia judaica L. (Asteraceae). Three undescribed davanone-related terpenoids, arteperoxides A–C, were isolated from the extract with two known derivatives, hydroxydavanone and davana acid. Structural analysis revealed that arteperoxides A–C were tris-normonoterpene–sesquiterpene conjugates with peroxide bridges. Although davanone derivatives with peroxides, such as a hydroperoxyl and peroxyhemiketal groups, have been isolated from Artemisia species, arteperoxides A–C are the first variations observed to contain peroxide bridges between two terpene-derived units. The absolute configurations of arteperoxides A and B were studied based on their spectroscopic data compared with those of the semisynthetic analogs that have ether linkages. The natural and synthetic compounds were tested for the antiosteoclastogenic activity, and arteperoxide C and hydroxydavanone were more potent than other compounds at 20 μM.journal articl

A study on the movement and acceptance of Okinawa industrial development youth corps in Brazil

    Get PDF
This paper focuses on the movement of the Okinawa industrial development youth corps, established during the American occupation period, to clarify the actual process of migration to and acceptance of Okinawan immigrant communities in Brazil, and to examine the significance of the movement. Specifically, it examines how the members of the youth migrant corps moved between Okinawan immigrant communities and were accepted in the region during the 1950s and 1960s, and examines their relationship with the Okinawa prefectural association in Brazil, which served as their host organization, in order to elucidate some aspects of the process of planned migration and youth movement overseas that were unique to Okinawa. The Okinawa industrial development youth corps was closely related to the Okinawan youth group movement, and the examination of the Okinawa industrial development youth corps movement should be considered as an integral part of the clarification of the Okinawan youth group during the Occupation.departmental bulletin pape

    Get PDF
This study clarifies the factors affecting the sustainability of security volunteer groups who are continuing their activities. The results of the study are as follows. The continuation of the activities is due to the high awareness of the participants of the activity groups. In addition, the crime prevention activities are sustainable because the local people understand these activities. In conclusion, building a relationship that allows two-way exchange between the actors and the local residents, such as appreciation of the local residents for their activities and interest in crime prevention, leads to the continuation of the activities of crime prevention volunteer groups.departmental bulletin pape

The effect of a health education initiative in response to health concerns picked up by the Junior High School Student Health Committee : A short-term perspective on a lesson to deepen understanding of health combined with a review in the health newsletter

    Get PDF
So that junior high school students can implement desirable lifestyle habits, we conducted health education to nurture these qualities and abilities. These classes combined answers to questions about the health of all students as perceived by the Junior High School Student Health Committee and reviewed classes using health newsletters and verified the effects. As a result, “awareness of the relationship between eye health and concentration on learning,” “willingness to learn about health education,” “willingness to implement future actions to protect eye health,” “knowledge of eye health and vision,” and “current implementation of actions to protect eye health” scored significantly higher after the class. Based on these results, in cooperation with the activities of the Student Health Committee, rather than teaching children how to behave correctly and implement health-related behavior, classes should aim to deepen their knowledge and awareness of children's health. This health education combined with reviews from health news is clarified as being effective in increasing children's motivation to take desirable actions related to health.departmental bulletin pape

Health classes in the unit “Disease Prevention,” discussion activities for presentations at the school health committee meeting, which uses time for special activities, and presentations at the school health committee meeting and the learning effect of educational practices on elementary school sixth graders were examined. Also, the School Health Committee examined the impact of the sixth grader’s presentation on the first grade to the fifth grade. As a result, it was suggested that lessons practices that deepen the children’s understanding are important, and awareness of formal discussions and individual presentations are not as effective. Also, it was suggested that being aware of the audiences listening comprehension and already learned items, as well as presenting content to deepen understanding are important.departmental bulletin pape

The manpower shortage has become increasingly problematic in the elderly care sector in Japan due to further aging of society. The subject of elderly care is increasingly added into home economics education in Japan as a result of this issue. In this paper, we suggest a home economics lesson plan in cooperation with Jinseikai Akatombo Medical Corporation(the name means “red dragonfly”), the aim of which is to promote networking medical and nursing care rooted in the community. Medical Corporation Jinseikai Akatombo offers an elderly care program incorporating ICT, AI and nursing care robots, along with a team of multi-professional medical personnel, the purpose of which is to support family care and respond to each elderly person’s needs. It also includes worship services, social welfare classes, and junior volunteers to facilitate communication with and between students and the elderly. We also managed a junior high school curriculum, linking home economics lessons with other subjects and designing home economics lesson plans, to include Jinseikai Akatombo Medical Corporation.departmental bulletin pape

The number of school refusal students in Japanese elementary and junior high schools is increasing year by year, and there is a strong demand for psychological support for children. Since 2002, the Faculty of Education at Kumamoto University has been working with the Kumamoto City Board of Education on the “Your Friend Project” to send undergraduate students to school refusal students. The usefulness of this project has already been shown, but in this study, we conducted a questionnaire survey of participating students for the purpose of confirming its significance. As a result, it was shown that while many students realized the significance of the activities, they were more worried as the grade progressed. In addition, it was shown that this activity has great significance for students as an activity to get close to children before becoming a teacher. However, it was also suggested that teachers and guardians do not understand that the purpose is not to return to school, and there is a reality that they fall into a dilemma. With the number of school refusal students increasing year by year, it was thought that it would be necessary to seriously face the way the school education system itself should be.departmental bulletin pape
