Reward-Driven Control Adaptation and Transfer
To optimize cognitive control, factors such as reward and conflict must be considered. This study examines whether people learn reward associations with contextual features in a conflict task and whether they transfer these learned control settings to an unbiased environment where rewards are no longer available.
Participants perform a color-word Stroop task, responding to the color of the shapes by ignoring the word written in the shape. The words can be congruent (e.g., "BLUE" in a blue shape) or incongruent (e.g., "RED" in a blue shape) with the color of the shape. Importantly, the shape of the stimuli is either a smooth oval or an irregular shape to create two different contexts. In half of the trials in the training phase (randomly distributed to congruent and incongruent trials), participants receive a reward for fast and accurate responses. Crucially, the likelihood of reward availability is associated with context (the shape of the stimulus), and context serves as a predictive cue. Participants are not informed about the availability of a reward before responding, but they receive feedback after each trial. In a subsequent transfer phase, the task remains the same, and participants keep responding to the same stimuli, but rewards are no longer available. Does emotional valance impact the recall of central and pheripheral details in interpersonal conflict scenarios
This study aims to examine how emotional valence influences memory for central and peripheral details of scenarios of interpersonal conflict. Previous studies have shown that emotion can enhance memory for central or emotionally salient details, while sometimes impairing recall for peripheral or contextual information. However, less is known about how this pattern applies to memories of repeated scenarios of interpersonal conflict, which are common in everyday and forensic settings.
In this experiment, participants aged 18–45 will be exposed to either negative or neutral virtual reality scenarios. After viewing the scenarios on Days 1 and 2. On Day 3, participants will complete a written free recall task in which they describe what they remember from each scenario, and subsequently compete either a free recall or timeline-enhanced interview on Day 8 or 9. Their recall (written statement and transcribed interview) will be coded using a predefined checklist that categorizes details as central (emotionally or situationally critical) or peripheral (background or contextual). This experiment is related to Rubínová et al. (2024, osf.io/at5f2) - we use the same data with an new coding schedule focused on central and peripheral details.
It is expected that participants exposed to negative valence stimuli will correctly recall more central and fewer peripheral details compared to participants in the neutral condition. This pattern would support the idea that emotional discomfort narrows attention toward core elements of an event while reducing memory for peripheral context. The findings will contribute to ongoing research on emotion and memory, particularly in relation to how emotional experiences shape recall of scenarios of interpersonal conflict
Do Phantom Costs prevent people from receiving kindness (Truck driver and TV delivery)
This study investigates the psychological barriers that prevent individuals from receiving everyday acts of kindness, focusing on the concept of “phantom costs” (suspicion of hidden motives behind generous offers). The research compares participants’ responses in two conditions: Enough Explanation vs. No Explanation.
Participants are randomly assigned to read a scenario in which a stranger offers to deliver a large TV. In the Enough Explanation condition, the person provides a clear explanation for the offer, while in the No Explanation condition, no explanation is given. Participants then rate their likelihood of accepting the offer, their perceptions of phantom costs, and their appreciation of the kindness.
It is expected that providing an explanation will reduce phantom costs and increase willingness to accept kindness. This study aims to better understand how explanation influences trust and responses to acts of kindness
Physiological Signatures of Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC) Processing Levels: An Empirical Study Based on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and Polyvagal Theory
This study aims to explore the immediate regulatory effects of different psychological processing levels—based on the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC) framework—on the autonomic nervous system (ANS) during visual art-making. The study will recruit vocational high school students. During a standardized art-making task protocol, Polar H10 sensors will be used to continuously track the dynamic changes in Heart Rate Variability (HRV) as participants transition from the "Kinesthetic/Sensory" level to the "Cognitive/Symbolic" level. Grounded in Polyvagal Theory, we hypothesize that higher-level symbolic processing in art-making will effectively activate the Ventral Vagal Complex (VVC), thereby promoting physiological and psychological safety and calmness

The design and implementation of a simulated taekwondo fitness test, and the reliability and concurrent validity of its physiological and perceptual responses
Although fitness testing is widely used in elite sport, common assessments such as incremental maximal tests and Wingate protocols lack the specificity required to reflect competition demands. They often fail to replicate the specific durations, work:rest ratios, and work density inherent to competition, which limits ecological validity and reduces their utility for sport-specific insights.
Presently, sport-specific tests in taekwondo do exist, however most tests fail to replicate competition demands. Simulated performance tests, including the Simulated Taekwondo Combat Test (Bridge et al., 2013), and another combat simulation protocol (Hausen et al., 2017) have been created and are ecologically valid, however depend on opponent behaviour, and are therefore difficult to standardise, limiting reliability, making them impractical for routine monitoring.
The development of a simulated taekwondo fitness test representative of competition demands may address several of these limitations. By manipulating physiological demand akin to competition round durations, work:rest ratios, and strike density, practitioners can be provided with more context-specific measures of athlete physiology, thereby improving the planning and monitoring of training in performance environments. Prior to practical application, a test must demonstrate robust reliability and validity.

Effects of Brain-Computer Interfaces in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation: A Systematic Review of Applicability and Neuroplasticity
This review aims to explore the application of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) in the rehabilitation of patients with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), with a particular emphasis on the neuroplasticity mechanisms involved. Existing interventional studies are explored to understand how BCIs can support functional recovery by leveraging motor-related brain activity. The work seeks to evaluate the clinical potential of BCIs in SCI rehabilitation, as well as to identify key neurophysiological changes associated with BCI use. Additionally, standardized approaches are proposed for measuring clinical outcomes and neuroplasticity in future clinical studies, facilitating the effective translation of BCI technology into clinical practice
Language abilities in Williams syndrome: Updated systematic review (2007–2025)
Williams syndrome (Williams–Beuren syndrome) is a rare neurodevelopmental condition characterized by a distinctive cognitive and behavioral profile. Since the influential review by Brock (2007), substantial new empirical research has examined language abilities in this population.
Earlier accounts proposed a relative preservation of language abilities, particularly vocabulary, alongside marked weaknesses in visuospatial cognition. However, more recent studies suggest a more heterogeneous linguistic profile and question the notion of a preserved language module.
Given the accumulation of new empirical data over the past 15+ years, an updated systematic review is warranted to clarify the current evidence regarding language abilities across domains and to evaluate whether the traditional profile remains supported

The supplementary materials consist of three files supporting the analysis presented in the paper.
Raw data file – contains the textual data used in the study. The dataset includes the content of the “About us” sections collected from the official websites of 100 companies operating in Croatia on December 11th 2023. These texts served as the primary input for the text analysis.
Analysis report (HTML) – a knitted output of the RMarkdown (RMD) script used for the analysis. The HTML file documents the complete analytical workflow, including data preparation, preprocessing steps, exploratory analysis, and clustering procedures. It provides a transparent and reproducible overview of the methods applied in the study.
