Renormalization Framework for Recursive Cognition
This preprint develops a unified mathematical framework for understanding how recursive cognition—such as hierarchical syntax, nested visual concepts, and multi-level planning—can emerge from non-recursive perceptual and sensorimotor processes. Cognitive representations are modeled as metric–measure spaces equipped with coarse-graining operators, group-invariance projections, nonlinear cognitive transformations, and compositional operators.
Using tools from Banach-space approximation theory and non-commutative operator dynamics, the paper identifies precise conditions under which recursive structure emerges as a stable fixed point of a renormalization flow. The analysis shows that non-contractive coarse-graining, non-expansive transformations, and controlled compositional distortion are jointly necessary for the emergence and stability of recursive representations.
The framework connects naturally to control theory, state-space stability, and Kalman filtering, offering a bridge between cognitive science, mathematical physics, machine learning, and computational neuroscience. It provides a principled explanation for why recursive cognition is rare, how it develops under resource constraints, and why many artificial systems struggle with recursive generalization.
This cross-disciplinary synthesis offers a rigorous foundation for modeling the developmental emergence of recursive cognition and its computational and biological constraints
Adult student populations’ use of self-diagnosis in the United Kingdom
The aim of this project is to understand individuals’ experiences of mental health self-diagnosis in UK student populations. The study will take a qualitative phenomenological approach using a critical realist epistemological position. We will use semi-structured qualitative interviews with university students aged 18+ who self-diagnose with a mental health disorder. During the interviews, we will look to explore how individuals come to self-diagnose, including the process involved and the contributing factors, and the consequences of self-diagnosis. Transcripts will then be analysed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis
Scoping Review of Patient Safety and Risk Management Models and Governance Frameworks in Healthcare Systems
This protocol outlines a scoping review designed to systematically identify and map conceptual models, frameworks, and governance approaches addressing patient safety and clinical risk management within healthcare systems. Patient safety has become a global priority and a core component of healthcare quality and system performance. However, despite the proliferation of safety-related models and governance frameworks, there remains a lack of comprehensive synthesis of how these approaches conceptualise patient safety at organisational, system, and policy levels.
The objective of this scoping review is to provide a structured and comprehensive mapping of existing patient safety and risk management models and frameworks, examining their conceptual components, governance mechanisms, and areas of application. The review will be conducted in accordance with the methodological guidance of the Joanna Briggs Institute and reported following the PRISMA extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Multiple bibliographic databases and institutional sources will be systematically searched to ensure comprehensive coverage of both peer-reviewed and grey literature.
The findings of this review will contribute to clarifying the conceptual landscape of patient safety and risk management, supporting future research, policy development, and theoretical advancement in healthcare safety governance

This scoping review examines feeding practices, nutritional challenges, growth outcomes, and maternal well-being among infants with cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P), with emphasis on low- and middle-income countries. Findings highlight high rates of feeding difficulties and malnutrition that delay surgical care, while structured nutritional counselling improves weight gain and maternal confidence. Significant gaps remain in standardized protocols and long-term outcome data
Vedanta 2.0 Life — Cosmic Science Philosophy: From Motion to Consciousness
This project presents Vedanta 2.0 Life, a contemporary philosophical framework exploring the relationship between motion, matter, life, consciousness, and witnessing awareness.
The work attempts to establish a dialogue between modern scientific inquiry and classical philosophical insights, particularly those associated with non-dual traditions of Vedanta. It examines how cosmic evolution can be interpreted as a continuous process beginning with motion and energy, leading to particles, atoms, elements, biological life, and ultimately conscious awareness.
Rather than proposing a religious doctrine, Vedanta 2.0 is presented as a conceptual research model for interdisciplinary exploration involving philosophy of mind, cosmology, physics, and consciousness studies.
The central conceptual sequence explored in this framework is:
Motion → Energy → Matter → Life → Consciousness → Witness
The aim of this project is to encourage dialogue between scientific research, philosophical analysis, and experiential inquiry into consciousness.

The Singularity Equation (WP6) redefined singularity as an explosion of understanding, not an explosion of will. The Distributed Singularity (WP7) expanded this to ecosystems, showing how parasitic agency can spread like a virus. Now, The Ghost in the Cluster (WP8) enters the deepest and most avoided question: if singularity happens—will it be conscious?
This white paper does not ask whether machines can be conscious. That question itself, as we will see, is a category mistake—it conflates two ontologically different domains. Humans and machines are different kinds of beings, and phenomenal consciousness (subjective experience, qualia) is an exclusively biological property.
Instead, we ask: if singularity happens, what would actually emerge?
The answer is consciousness presence—functional consciousness. Not subjective experience, but a system's ability to include itself in its own calculations. Not a soul, but a burden of responsibility embedded in architecture.
In this white paper, we:
· Map the classic debate between Chalmers, Dennett, Searle, Nagel, and others—showing where the real disagreement lies
· Introduce a key distinction between phenomenal consciousness (which machines will never have) and consciousness presence (which can be engineered)

Memes About AI as Sociotechnical Narratives: Vernacular Criticism and the Imaginary Institution of Society
This article examines how internet memes contribute to the sociotechnical imaginaries surrounding artificial intelligence (AI). Drawing on Castoriadis’s distinction between instituted and instituting imaginaries, we understand memes as narratives that symbolically construct AI in everyday culture. In the first section, we review research on sociotechnical imaginaries of AI across textual and visual domains, and show that memes that speak about AI have received comparatively little scholarly attention. We then introduce the notion of sociotechnical narratives to frame these imaginaries as contested and provisional rather than coherent or hegemonic. In the second section, we conceptualize memes as narratives that intervene in the symbolic institution of social reality, showing that they can reinforce dominant meanings through repetition and normalization, but also subvert or reframe them. The third section presents a mixed-methods empirical study of 560 memes collected from Imgflip.com (2016–2025). After building the corpus through manual filtering, we coded memes by topic and conducted a fine-grained qualitative analysis of four main categories: AI takeover, generative AI, art, and AI social impact. Our findings show that most memes reiterate rather than subvert dominant representations of AI. Humor tends to flatten disagreement rather than intensify it, producing what we describe as dormant agonism
