    An analysis of students motivation toward English learning as second language among students in Pritchard English academy (PEACE)

    This research aimed at investigating the students’ motivation in English learning as a second language. The method used was a survey by randomly asking the students in Pritchard English Academy (PEACE) to fill out a questionnaire which adapted from Attitude Motivation Test Battery (AMTB) designed by R.C. Gardner. The questionnaire was administered to a group of 30 students who come from intermediate until advanced level. The data were analyzed by using SPPS program. It was used to find out mean score and standard deviation. The main findings show that the students are relative “highly” motivated and found to be slightly more “instrumentally” motivated to learn English. This reveals that instrumental motivation is a significant factor among this group of students learning English. Based on this study’s findings, some relevant and useful motivational learning implications are recommended for enhancement and improvement of the students’ motivation

    Revitalization of oral literature tradition of Balinese society based character values as deradicalism effort

    The present study was to discuss the importance of revitalizing Balinese literature towards the children from an early age as an alternative against the radicalism seeds. Indonesian currently has a very serious problem, one of them was the growing understanding of radicalism that has a potential to threaten the sovereignty of the nation and the state of Indonesia. The radicalism idea must be soon opposed to the noble values contained in the oral literary tradition. On the early inculcation of the oral literary tradition for children, it could affect psychology and characterize the child who was oriented towards the noble values of culture in which the oral literature was born. Regarding the growth of children's awareness of the noble values of culture consist of in an oral literature, unlike the ethical and religious teachings, the inclusion chances of radicalism for the children were very small. Therefore, the lofty values of the oral literary tradition were defensive and attack. It defined defense on the radicalism onslaught and attack behind the radicalism idea

    Novel with its complexity is a means of self-expression, the contemplation result, observation, imagination, and even the form of social critique of the author. One of the local novels that succeeded in attracting sympathy through the local cultural picture is Salman Faris's novel, Guru Onyeh. Salman Faris is a writer born in Lombok. Salman Faris explores the reality that exists in the life of the surrounding community into a literary work in the form of a novel entitled Guru Onyeh. The culture of society explored in this novel is the cultural elements of Sasak people who inhabit the island of Lombok. This novel also discovers the culture of the Sasak community in the reality of life. In order to uncover the actualization of cultural elements in the Sasak society, the novel Guru Onyeh will be studied based on the theory of literary anthropology. This discover the cultural elements contained in the novel and how the actualization of those cultural elements in the novel of Guru Onyeh in the Sasak community is. This study reveals that there are seven elements of culture in the novel Guru Onyeh namely: human life equipment, livelihood, societal system, language, art, knowledge, and religion. Each element of the culture still exists in Sasak society

    Renewable sources are closely linked to the natural conditions of each region and locality, their availability is very varied from one site to another, being important the evaluation of the potential of these resources, in order to determine their best use under economically advantageous conditions. These constitute the equivalent fuel for the operation of the technologies that exploit them, their quantity and quality; It also depends on the energy performance and reliability of the technology systems that employ them. An analysis of the importance of the determination of the regionalization of the RES is presented, showing the energy, economic and environmental impacts that can be estimated in specific regions and localities. For this, the studies carried out in the province of La Habana and in the municipality of San Luis in the province of Santiago de Cuba are presented as practical examples of a territorial planning, considering the conditions of each locality. The results are shown using the Geographic Information System (GIS). The contribution obtained allows the preliminary knowledge of the renewable potential (solar, wind, water and biomass), which can be considered for a regionalization of the planning with renewable energy sources, in order to reach the goals of sustainable development, based on the search Of energy solutions at the Community level

    The success on the development of tourism in a tourist destination depends on the role/participation of tourism stakeholders in the area. Similarly, in the development of rural tourism in the Pakraman Jasri Village. Since the beginning or the planning of tourism development in this village until the time of its development, the tourism stakeholders, namely the local community, government, and investors in this village have been actively and directly involved in supporting the development of Jasri Tourism Village. This writing aims at knowing and understanding the role of tourism stakeholders in Jasri Tourism Village which considered have played the important role in developing tourism in the village. This research was conducted by using the qualitative method in accordance with the rules of scientific research and the paradigm of Cultural Studies. The result of the study showed that the role of tourism stakeholders can be seen in the early planning of Jasri Tourism Village and in the development of Jasri Tourism Village. The tourism stakeholders at Jasri Village have done some efforts to make sure that the development of Jasri Tourism Village will be a success and able to give a significant impact, particularly in improving the welfare of the local society of the Pakraman Village of Jasri in the future time

    Syntactic frames and deep structure specification of semantic prime ‘do’ in Balinese

    The deep structure specification consists of a control verb and a series of case roles which are marked in the Noun Phrase (NP). Study about the deep structure specification for the semantic prime DO is related to the case grammar of which model is determined by the syntactic frames of the semantic prime DO. Therefore, this article tries to describe the syntactic frames and the case roles of the semantic prime DO. Data were collected from four Balinese folklores with observation method and note taking technique. The Descriptive qualitative method was used to analyze the data collected. The results of the analysis showed that the syntactic frames of the semantic prime DO can be described as (1) X does (something) in which the deep structure can be specified into A-O and B/E-O where B is coreferential with E; (2) X does (something) to/for/with someone / something in which the deep structure can be specified into O-A where S=O, A-O-B, B-Os, and A-O; (3) X does (something) in something in which the deep structure can be specified into Os-L, A-O-L, and E-L; and (4) X does (something) to/for/with someone/something in something in which the deep structure can be specified into O-A-L and B/E-L where B is coreferential with E

    This study aims at describing 1) what new forms of vocabulary are, 2) how new vocabulary is accepted by Sekotong community, and 3) why the Sekotong community received a new vocabulary as a form of Sasak language enrichment. The approach used to discover the data in this study was linguistic approach with micro part by looking at the side of words that belongs to the morphology study. In the early stage, this research employed observation method in the early stages and followed by data collection, data classification, and data analysis. Data collection in this research was done through in-depth interviews by applying recording and defect techniques. The data were gathered from the informant as a source of data. The data analysis was firstly conducted by looking the data classified. Further, the data were analyzed in terms of the types of words consisting of nouns, verbs, adjective and the numeral. In addition, to analyze the word of the word class the data, it is also seen in terms of free morpheme and bound morpheme by the meaning of lexical, grammatical and contextual meaning

    Constructing assessment instrument models for teacher’s performance, welfare and education quality

    The prime objective of this research is to design teacher performance assessment instrument model, teacher welfare instrument model, and instrument model of education quality improvement. To achieve these objectives needs analysis, potential field analysis, and other supporting analyzes were performed. The final product or outcome of this research is a set of assessment instrument models for teachers’ performance, teachers’ welfare, and educational quality improvement. The study was designed for two years adopting the Research and Development theory employing 4D model consisting of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The first year designated as a phase of Define and Design, aims to design a draft of the assessment instrument models. The second year, the activity was focused on the refinement of the final draft of the assessment instrument models for teacher performance, teachers’ welfare, and quality of education outcomes through focus group discussion (FGD) with the selected teachers, principals and school supervisors. The final research result is a set of valid assessment models of teachers’ performance, teachers’ welfare, and quality improvement of education

    The inflection of Sasak language in Kuripan village: A morphological study

    This writing is about inflection of Sasak language in Kuripan. The people of Kuripan use Meno-Mene dialect as their daily communication. Sasak language in Kuripan has the uniqueness based on its position (lay on a boundary area of West Lombok and Central Lombok) wherein Kuripan uses Meno-Mene dialect and the other part of Central Lombok which is close to Kuripan Use Meriaq-Meriku dialect so that it makes Meno-Mene dialect of Kuripan has its own character. Based on the phenomenon about varieties of the words and utterances which have different structure is used in Sasak language especially in Kuripan, so I interest in doing the research about inflection as a subfield of morphology which influences the sentences or utterances structurally.  Therefore, this study aims to analyze the types and the functions of inflection in the Meno-Mene dialect of Kuripan. This study used a descriptive and qualitative method where the data gathered through some methods: observation, and an interview. The data gathered are analyzed using some steps: Representing the data obtained, then classifying the class category of the base words (whether they are verb, noun, or adjective), then Identifying the types of inflection in  Meno-Mene Dialect of Kuripan, and the last Analyzing various functions of inflection in Meno-Mene dialect of Kuripan. This study found there is 34 (thirty-four) inflection morpheme that classified according to the lexical category, namely; noun, verb, and adjective. Furthermore, all of the inflectional affixes above have the difference function depend on their affixes and their base-form category. Hence, this study found that the use Meno-Mene dialect of Kuripan has the various affixes especially in term of inflection which influences the utterances or expressions grammatically
