The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on every aspect of human life, from health issues to economic problems, where high unemployment rates and many businesses experience stagnation. When someone experiences financial anxiety, it will certainly affect their financial behavior. In this case, trading crypto assets is very attractive to investors because asset value increases can be achieved quickly, but asset value decreases can also occur just as quickly. The mental impact that occurs from this phenomenon needs to be known. Analytical observational research with a cross-sectional study design on 207 subjects who have crypto accounts and are trading crypto assets. The sample was obtained through voluntary sampling via social media and crypto communities throughout Indonesia. Out of 207 research subjects, there were 88.4% of crypto asset traders experienced FoMO, 90.33% experienced impulsivity, and there was a relationship between FoMO and impulsivity (p=0.001, cc=0.228), FoMO and stress (p=0.000, cc=0.289), FoMO and anxiety (p=0.040, cc=0.143), FoMO and depression (p=0.000, cc=0.218), impulsivity and stress (p=0.000, cc=0.303), impulsivity and anxiety (p=0.000, cc=0.352), and impulsivity and depression (p=0.000, cc=0.360). The reliability test of the FoMO questionnaire was (? cronbach=0.504), validity test (KMO=0.599, commonalities of each question item >0.50).

Psychoneuroimmunology of depression and its relation to the gut-brain axis: Literature review

    Get PDF
Background: Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) or also called psychoneuroendocrinology is the study of how psychological, neural, and immunological processes interact and influence human health and behavior. It is known that psychosocial factors contribute to the development of many diseases and that the immune system plays an important role in this relationship. Likewise, immune system signals in the brain affect mood, cognitive function, and behavior. Method: Literature review through scientific sources from books and journals related to the psychoneuroimmunology of depression and its relationship with the gut-brain axis. Discussion: Several studies have shown that patients with severe mental disorders including depression are affected by various changes in the gut microbiota and increased intestinal permeability. The gut microbiota can activate the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis through some mediators that cross the blood-brain barrier and include antigens, microbes, cytokines, and prostaglandins. Some bacterias release neurotransmitters that can interact directly with the vagus nerve. Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal axis activation can influence gut microbiota and gut permeability. An imbalance in intestinal flora can reduce protective properties, and increase neurotoxins and inflammatory mediators, causing nerve damage from the synaptic cleft which causes depression. Conclusion: There is an interrelated relationship between the psychoneuroimmunology of depression and the gut-brain axis.

HIV-infected and HIV-affected children experience grief from the death of their family, many caregiver transitions, and the potentially traumatic experience of living under stigma. Boy patient, 9 years old, Hindu, Balinese, single, not working, was consulted from the pediatric department and admitted in the Cempaka room of Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah on April 6, 2023. From auto-anamnesis, he has a depressive mood, loss of interest and excitement, weight loss, fatigue or loss of energy, insomnia, psychomotor agitation, or retardation. The patient was diagnosed with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in 2014 when he was a year and six months old. The patient lost his father in February 2023. The patient experienced depression caused by psychosocial stressors because of the loss of his father and was diagnosed with HIV. HIV-infected children are prone to get depression. One of the psychosocial stressors experienced by children with HIV is the prolonged mourning process due to the loss of a family member. Comprehensive treatment is needed in the form of psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. Family support is the most important thing in relieving symptoms of depression and increasing medication adherence

Background: There is evidence of decreased hemoglobin levels as long as an ageing process in the elderly. Low hemoglobin level conditions not only influence physical status but also mental function in the elderly. Objective: to know the association between hemoglobin level and depression status in the elderly. Methods: This is an analytic cross-sectional study. Data were derived from medical records of elderly/Geriatric patients (age>60 years old) admitted to the Internal Medicine Department of Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital between January to July 2018. Anemia status was defined using WHO criteria and depression was defined using Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) questionnaires. We use an independent t-test to know the association between a categorical and numeric variable with normal distribution. Statistically significant if p < 0.05. Results: A total of 102 patient was enrolled in this study consisting of 47,05% male and 52,94% female. The prevalence of depression in the elderly was 27,45% and there is no statistically different based on age and sex. There is an association between hemoglobin level and depression in the elderly (p=0,037; CI 0,76-3,14). Logistic regression analysis shows that age and hemoglobin level impact depression status in the elderly.

Aging is an inevitable process experienced by everyone and is closely associated with a decline in both physical and mental functions. Physically, the elderly are vulnerable to age-related diseases, including dementia. Life Review Therapy (LRT) emerges as a non-pharmacological intervention that assists the elderly in reflecting on and contemplating various aspects of their lives. The roots of this therapy are based on Erik Erikson's psychosocial development theory and aim to enhance emotional and psychological well-being through the process of recalling and narrating life experiences. The steps of LRT involve discussions about successes, failures, and significant events in life, with the goal of rebuilding meaning and providing satisfaction. In cases of dementia, LRT can provide cognitive stimulation, allowing individuals to engage in thinking and remembering activities, potentially improving cognitive function. This therapy can also strengthen social relationships and offer opportunities for individuals to share their life stories with others

Degenerative disease is a disease that arises due to the deterioration of organ function due to the aging process and is one of the biggest causes of death in the world, causing 60% of deaths and 40% of the global disease burden. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nearly 17 million people are dying from degenerative diseases every year (Departemen Kesehatan RI, 2005). Efforts to increase clean and healthy living behavior in adolescents require counseling to adolescents, especially regarding various kinds of degenerative diseases and prevention efforts that must be done. The preliminary study conducted by the researcher is that out of 50 students at SMK 1 Sumbawa, it is known that 45 class XI students have never received counseling/knowledge about degenerative diseases, and 35 of them have a negative lifestyle, including often eating instant noodles, fried snacks, etc. (SMK 1 Sumbawa, 2023). The method used was pre-experimental, namely one group pretest-posttest design. This study aims to determine the effect of providing counseling on efforts to prevent degenerative diseases on clean and healthy living behavior in school settings in adolescents at SMK I Sumbawa. The location of data collection was carried out at SMK1 Sumbawa
