    Get PDF
One of the problems that represent a nuisance for the citizens of the city of Portoviejo in Ecuador is related to the treatment to the waste water, since in their majority they are poured as effluents to the river Portoviejo. This situation causes at different times of the year that there is an unpleasant smell that affects the environment. In the work technical solutions are analyzed to avoid such annoyance; but the most important thing is to avoid contaminating the river waters with the dumping of pollutants that alter the quality of the water. A variant aimed at ammonium removal is proposed using zeolite filters

    Intellectual disability

    Get PDF
Intellectual disability is a disability that occurs before age 18. People with this disability experience significant limitations in two main areas: 1) Intellectual functioning and 2) Adaptive behavior. These limitations are expressed in the person’s conceptual, social and practical everyday living skills. A number of people with intellectual disability are mildly affected, making the disability difficult to recognize without visual cues. Intellectual disability is diagnosed through the use of standardized tests of intelligence and adaptive behavior. In this article, we will examine the symptoms and causes of intellectual disability and go through the diagnosis of intellectual disability using standardized tests of intelligence and discuss the role of the community environment and needed support

Analysis of productivity plankton and trophic status Beratan Lake ecosystem Tabanan Regency, Bali Province

    Get PDF
Beratan Lake is used for fish cultivation activity, tourism, agriculture, and disposal activity. Utilization level is too high and makes lake ecosystem disturbed especially phytoplankton. Phytoplankton existence in water is acting as primary production and act to determine water quality on physical or chemical. The purpose of this research is to know plankton productivity and trophic status ecosystem Beratan Lake. Beratan Lake utilization that too high will impact in ecological pressure at lake ecosystem like decreasing water productivity and quality. The result of the research can conclude that water premier productivity of Beratan Lake is too low especially in cultivation fish territory that has phytoplankton abundance is 4585 individuals per ml that make Beratan Lake is classified to a lake that its trophic status is oligotrophic. The variety of phytoplankton and zooplankton that found in Beratan Lake shows low variety where it only found 5 classes and 11 species of phytoplankton and also 2 classes dan 3 species of zooplankton

The application of a dryer solar energy hybrid to decrease workload and increase dodol production in Bali

    Get PDF
Dodol is one of the typical traditional snacks in Bali. Dodol is a food favored by both domestic and foreign tourists. The process of making dodol are through several stages, namely making the dough, stirring the dough until cooked, wrapping dodol, and the last stage is drying dodol. The process of drying is done by natural methods of drying and using traditional work tools. The process of drying under the sun causes an additional workload for the worker, tiredness, and less optimal production of dodol. Therefore, research was done to provide a solution to this problem that is the application of a dryer solar energy hybrid. This research was conducted experimentally using treatment by subject design. The sample size is 20 people. The samples were given two treatments, namely the work of making dodol the old way (period 1) and working to make dodol in a new way using the application of techno-ergonomic hybrid solar energy (period 2). The workload is calculated based on worker's working pulse and %CVL (Cardio Vascular Load), while the production amount is calculated from the amount of dodol produced in one production cycle. To know the difference between period 1 and period 2, data were analyzed using the t-pair test at 5% significance level. The results showed that there was a decrease of workload by 15.3%, a decrease of %CVL by 41.4%, increase of production amount 167%, and improvement of dodol product quality. It was concluded that the application of hybrid solar drying can decrease the workload of dodol workers and increase the production and the quality of dodol in Bali

Social interactions are crucial issues in Sasak society who has been familiar with the variety of ethnics and cultures for long period. As a figurative language, Kekilah has been importance element of Sasak in social-cultural matters. Related to this thing, this paper tries to do further examining by observing the function of Kekilah which was promoted by Merton (in Kaplan and Manners, 2002) with aims to know what are functions can be analyzed based on the theory. Further, this discussion is focusing on manifestation function and latent function of Kekilah. Manifestation function (explicit function) as an expression function which is realized or accepted by the sasak community, which contains the use of communications, educations, and politeness functions. While, latent function (implicit function) is a social prenatal reflection, social controlling function, and solidarity functions

One of important factors in improving the production of ruminants is the availability of qualified green fodder throughout the year. The qualified green fodder mainly consists of grass as the source of energy, and legume as the source of protein. In Indonesia, especially in Bali, the livestocks’ farmers still utilize grasses from field as their livestocks’ fodder, due to the lack of special lands to plant grasses. Therefore, an intercropping between grass and legume is considered to be necessary. Furthermore, fertilization is also considered to be significant to produce an optimum production. Fertilization that could be implemented by farmers without any additional cost is by using Compost and Biourine
