The psychoanalytical reading of some selected poems of robert browning
Get PDFThe main aim of writing this paper has been to produce unique, insightful interpretations of a few select poems of Robert Browning that shed more light on Browning’s writing style keeps the psychoanalytical theories in mind. The paper includes an introduction to Browning’s writing style and Browning as a poet. Consecutively, the paper proceeds with the interpretation of the poems, which have been divided into two categories for a focused analysis. The first group contains poems that were published in a collection called ‘Dramatic Romances’ (1842) and the second group contains poems that were published in a collection called ‘Dramatis Personae’(1864)

The stakeholder power relations between the three pillars of the government (BTDC), investors, and the society in the management of Nusa Dua resort is influenced by external factors is the globalization that developing very fast. This study focused on analyzing and answering the basic of what ideology is affecting the management of Nusa Dua Tourism Resort. Results of this study indicate that the management of Nusa Dua Tourism Resort is not only determined by the business management matters but also by the social and political situation and by global and others tourism related ideologies. Social and political change and demands by these ideologies force all three pillars in the Nusa Dua Tourism Resort management activities to wisely exercising their power in the relation to each other for the benefit of all parties and assurance of the sustainability of the resort
Revealing the religious meaning of bakayat sasak oral-text
Get PDFThe aim of this study is to reveal the religious meaning of the spoken text 'bakayat' Sasak in the form of performances. Bakayat as a form of writing in the type of tale was delivered by metembang (singing) it along with its translation and interpretation in Sasak language. This spoken-text resembled pepaosan Sasak and mabebasan in Bali. It was used on Islamic celebration day and religious rituals of the Sasak people. The Bakayat Sasak as the religious text has religious meaning and it was interpreted in the various forms of meaning in its performance. The theory used to analyze the meaning of the spoken text 'bakayat' in this study is the theory of articulation. This theory stated that the connectivity between two or more elements of different cultural circles in the construction of the meaning of a cultural product always occurs in a certain condition. The relationship between various elements which are not fixed, essentials and absolute is a dialogical relationship. It occurs in specific coincidence condition. Therefore, the establishment of meaning is a dialogical relationship between the various sections of elements in the circle and it is always in the process. This study used 'bakayat' spoken texts as a primary source of data and interviews, observation, and documentation as its secondary data. The qualitative analytical method was used to analyze the data in this study, where the spoken texts were transcribed and translated. The data were analyzed based on the meaning of the performer of the bakayat spoken text. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of 'bakayat' Sasak not only contained religious meaning, but also social, historical, political, and aesthetic the meaning

Get PDFThis paper describes the phenomenon of bilingualism on low ethnic complexity border region of Belu Regency and South Central Timor, East Nusa Tenggara Province. It is marked by its speakers understanding and using Tetun language (TL), Dawan language (DL) and Indonesian language (IL). Therefore, the phenomenon of bilingualism refers to the choice of language use and its factors. In order to obtain the expected data, the research involved 100 respondents. The data obtained through data collection techniques were analyzed by quantitative and qualitative methods. It was conducted based on the attitude of the language in the dimensions of language loyalty, language pride, and language awareness on norms in the domains of family, education, customs, neighborhood, government, and religion. The results show that the low ethnic complexity border region reflects the natural linguistic phenomenon in the dimensions of social life, and nation without leaving the democratic life within the framework of Timorese culture. Linguistic phenomenon characterized by the choice of TL, DL, and IL is influenced by their own cultural background, political and economic factors. Such the language situation is reasoned by the geographical location not be economically viable for migrants
A comparative study on indigenous female sexuality body in the novels at Balai Pustaka and Tionghoa descent
Get PDFThis qualitative study at examining the body conflict on indigenous women and sexuality were portrayed by the litterateur published in Balai Pustaka novels and Tionghoa Descent litterateur stories. Some of the literature that was studied included Siti Nurbaya (Marah Rusli), Salah Asuhan by Abdoel Moeis as a work of Balai Pustaka period. Meanwhile, Tjerita Si Jonet, Tjerita Nyai Rossina, and Tjerita Nyai Paina were some literary works of Tionghoa Descent. The present study saw that there was similarities colonial perspective against indigenous women. Similarly, indigenous men against indigenous women. They believed that indigenous women did not have a right and a freedom. In colonial view, indigenous women were thoroughly indigenous powerlessness. In the indigenous men view against indigenous women over the nativist position in their gender context. Orientalism in body conflict indigenous women and sexuality at Balai Pustaka novels and novels that were written by Tionghoa Descent presented by the authors through their characters. In Balai Pustaka novels, orientalism body conflict on indigenous women and sexuality presented by prominent indigenous men against indigenous women. For instance, the perspective Datuk Maringgih to Siti Nurbaya. Orientalism in body conflict indigenous women and sexuality in the novels that were written by Tionghoa Descent literature included that was carried out by the Dutch colonial figures and indigenous leaders. The result of this study saw that semantic has an important role in involving to be understandable by the reader. Tourism development basis in traditional village of Kuta
Get PDFTourism in the Kuta District, located in southern Bali, Indonesia, is a phenomenal global commercial sector that continues to be the largest contributor to Indonesia’s tourism industry, and thereby also contributes to the overall gross national product (GNP) in Indonesia. Kuta’s world-renowned tourist destination has its roots dating from the early 19th century when at that time the island of Bali enticed tourists that had the unique Balinese cultural experiences at heart. Today, Kuta has many sectors of tourism including cultural tourism, nature tourism, shopping tourism and a distinct surfing history with international competitions. Considering that Kuta District leads Bali in cultural capital and tourism throughout the entire island of Bali, Indonesia, this paper will question: 1) how Kuta can continue to lead cultural tourism and remain dynamic in Bali, Indonesia, yet grow by means of socioeconomic communications 2) how the krama (member of traditional village) living in poverty can implement cultural tourism 3) discuss cultural tourism and joint efforts between larger governmental bodies that oversee sociological propaganda that might: strengthen artistic endeavors, preserve the unique identity of the Balinese people and satisfy tourists that still visit Bali with expectations of experiencing its native, original, highly artistic and cultural atmosphere, original cultural experience and atmosphere of what has become known as the unspoiled Bali of the 19th century
Vocal and consonant pan features in Nias and Sigulai languages
Get PDFThis paper aims at describing the features of vowels and PAN consonants in Nias and Sigulai languages, as well as their comparison bit of Devayan Language. The three languages were used as objects for comparing between Nias and Sigulai language that was spoken in two different islands mastering enough similarity compared Sigulai Language with Devayan Language although both (Sigulai and Devayan Language) performed on the same island, i.e. Simeulue Island. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the vowels and PAN consonants degrade many forms and in different ways in derivatives language, i.e. languages of Nias, Sigulai, and Devayan. Nias language and Sigulai language shows fairly closely than in the Devayan Language. That was the consonants features of the Austronesian language and vowels can evidence its existence in Nias language and Sigulai language. The qualitative evidence that could be concluded from the above comparison was: (1) the sound was inherited linearly *i is a vowel and * u * l * g consonant. (2) The sound experience is fading *s/*S, *c, *y, *k, *q, and *h; (3) sound inherited linearly once-fading and change was * e> ?, o, and u; * A> a, o; * P> f, b; * B> f, w / v; * M> m, Ø; *> W, b; * T> t, d; * D> d, l, n; * N> g, k; * R / * R> r, l, Ø; * ?> ?, n; * Z> j, l; and * ?> ?, Ø. The changes were varied in point three took place on the third syllable and a different position. All types of changing, it turned out all the lexicons PAN closed syllable, experiencing consonant deletion at any syllable in Nias language and particularly Sigulai language
The translation of English it-cleft sentences into Indonesian
Get PDFThe translations of English It-Cleft Sentences into Indonesian is the topic of this study. It is interesting to study because there is cleft construction in Indonesian. Since there is no cleft construction in Indonesian, sometimes the result of the translation can be awkward. The purposes of this study are to find out the translation of English cleft sentences into Indonesian found in The Intelligent Investor book and to analyze the naturalness of the translation in Indonesian. The sentences were collected through note taking technique and then analyzed qualitatively by using the theories of Quirk (1986) regarding cleft sentences, and Newmark (1988) related to the levels of translation. The results show that the sentences were translated into both simple and complex sentences in the Indonesian TL. From the translation results can be seen that not all of the sentences sound natural in the target language because the cleft construction is not found in Indonesian, however, the meaning of the sentence can be transferred into the target language
