The Impact of Distance Learning During the Pandemic: Exploring the Relationship Between Motivation, Commitment, and Performance Among Students at FSJES Marrakech

    No full text
The Covid-19 pandemic is the global crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced since the Second World War. All areas of human life have been affected. Education is among the activities that have been most affected. To ensure pedagogical continuity, Moroccan universities have made efforts to set up a distance education system on a large scale. Students, research teachers and university officials participated in this challenge. Theoretically, our research is based on the theory of self-determination (Deci and Ryan 1985) and the model of human engagement (Brault labbé and Dubé, 2008). Empirically, we chose the method of structural equations that allow us to analyze the different causal relationships of the conceptual model. The Partial Least Square (PLS) approach is implemented instead of the Covariance Based Structural Equation Modeling (CBSEM) approach. The results show that the level of motivation does not have a significant impact on the engagement, but engagement positively influences the performance of the students of the university of CADY AYAD MARRAKECH.   Keywords: Motivation, Commitment, Performance. The enormous need to ensure good health care for Moroccans, as well as the objectives of economy, efficiency and control of expenditure, are increasingly imposing public-private partnerships in the development of different strategies and represent a priority axis of the government's vision for the social protection project. In this sense, the experience of a public-private partnership (PPP) in the area of purchasing dialysis services is an excellent example of using the resources available to both sectors to achieve synergy and territorial health justice in terms of delivering better quality healthcare. Our aim in this article is to answer a number of theoretical and empirical questions using a qualitative method based on the case study of the prefecture of Fez: the state of play, strengths, weaknesses and contributions, making it possible to highlight the constraints in the field and to grasp the essential trends and developments. The results of our research have shown the significant benefits of PPP and the very remarkable qualitative improvements in patient health in this area. But they also suggest that we need to take account of the importance of prior training for the players involved, which will strengthen their role in this process.   Keywords: public-private partnership, service purchase, end-stage chronic renal disease, dialysis. In a perspective to meet the guidelines of the General Directorate of National Security (DGNS) to establish the general order and fight against crime, the police institution in Morocco continues to introduce a series of strategies aimed at improving the relationship police - citizen in the ultimate reason to restore the trust between these two actors. This paper presents an assessment of the impact of the police training axes on the success of the concept of community policing.  In an attempt to assess the impact of these determinants of police training on the success of the concept of community policing, also known as proximity, this research article mobilized Generalized Linear Models (GLMs), specifically binary logistic regression.  However, the prediction of the success of this concept was supported in this paper by a police training module such as community policing.  This research ultimately showed a highly significant positive correlation between the background of this police training module and the success of the community policing approach. This study was carried out in two successive phases.  The first was qualitative on the selection of determinants of continuing police training, specifically the background to the formation of "Closer to the Public " A broad review of the literature, with a significant impact on the success of the community policing concept.  The second phase is quantitative, explaining the prediction of the success of this concept through the logit model.     Keywords: police continuing education, community policing, police professional training, generalized linear models, binary logistic regression.

    No full text
Globalisation has increased competition between territories to attract foreign direct investment because of its impact on economic development. Morocco aware of this challenge, has a diaspora of more than five million of which a large part wishes to invest in its country of origin. Our problematic focuses on how the brand contributes to attracting investments of the moroccan diaspora. Our research objective is the realization of a conceptual model inspired by our literature review to stimulate the attraction of moroccan investors living abroad. The state of the art has shown that in recent years, territorial marketing and branding strategies have gained importance due to the fierce competition between territories and the phenomenon of international mobility. Previous work has been characterized by a variety of study objects and different dimensions in the choice of the territory studied, due to the multidimensional nature of the issue of territorial attractiveness. In general, the theoretical framework of this field of study has been described by several researchers as insufficient. In this article we highlighted the concept of brand image by making the link with the attraction of investors from the moroccan diaspora in the light of the theory of social representations and the theory of planned behavior converging in the notion of perception. This article does not claim to be exhaustive but it offers new research perspectives in this field of study.    Keywords: Moroccan investors living abroad, diaspora, attractiveness, brand image, representation.

Audit Report Lag and Cost of Equity Capital: How do investors deem audit report lag? Evidence from France

    No full text
This research investigates the impact of external audit report lag on the cost of equity capital and how investors perceive audit report lag. We posit that a longer audit report lag is associated with a higher cost of equity capital because a lengthier audit report arouses investors' mistrust concerning accounting practices and the credibility of reported financial information, which increases the cost of equity capital in return. For the contributions of the study and to the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first to study the impact of audit report lag on the cost of equity capital in the French context. Using a sample of the 881 listed French companies and 34,950 firm-year observations from 2008 to 2021, we find that firms with higher audit report lag have a higher cost of equity capital. Investors link extended audit delay to a lack of transparency, issues in financial reporting, and higher business risks (such as dubious accounting practices and adverse or disclaimer opinions) due to information asymmetry. Our findings have implications for companies, investors, auditors, and regulators as they highlight that firms' cost of equity capital is positively associated with the audit report lag. Our findings contribute to the ongoing debates concerning the impact of audit report lag by emphasizing its impact on financing costs. As for limitations, we mention that there is no flawless approach to estimating the cost of equity capital. Even if the adopted measurements of the cost of equity capital in this research have wide empirical support, the measurements can be improved.   Keywords: Audit report lag, cost of equity capital, quality of information, improved decision-making, information asymmetry Classification JEL : M40 Paper type : Empirical ResearchThis research investigates the impact of external audit report lag on the cost of equity capital and how investors perceive audit report lag. Adapting Moroccan Fiscal Policy to the Coronavirus Crisis

    No full text
This theoretical research article delves into the role of Moroccan fiscal policy in response to the COVID-19 crisis. It assesses the emergency fiscal measures taken by the Moroccan government, comparing them to international standards. The analysis also examines the impact of the crisis on public finances, highlighting a significant deficit in tax revenues. To compensate for this loss, the study posits the need for a robust fiscal policy, which is crucial to support an effective economic recovery post-crisis. Structured around five strategic pillars, this policy aims to expand social protection, integrate the informal sector, combat tax fraud, establish a trustworthy relationship between taxpayers and the state, support productive enterprises, and enhance the purchasing power of citizens.   Keywords: COVID-19; fiscal measures; fiscal policy; revenue mobilization; economic recovery. JEL Classification: E62 ; H12 ; H20 ; O23 ; I18 Paper type: Theoretical Article. In recent years, several theories have been put forward for the practice of KM. However, given the abstract nature of the field, there is little consensus on the components and modes of knowledge management. Much current research focuses on one or a few organizational elements of knowledge management. The critical and fundamental relationships between all elements are often overlooked. The need for theories, principles and empirical methods for knowledge management is widely recognized in the existing management literature. Thus, the main motivation of this research is to develop a broad model in the form of a holistic framework for corporate knowledge management and to highlight the tangible impacts of knowledge management on the competitiveness of Moroccan companies’ subject of the study carried out in 2019/2020 and to present the challenges of Knowledge management and contributed to a good understanding of the benefits of KM for the company. The research study is carried out with an interpretative paradigm and the non-demonstrative induction approach with a questionnaire research strategy to explore and describe various factors influencing the practice of knowledge management in organizations. The results of this research revealed a significant relationship between knowledge management and competitiveness through the establishment of a culture of sharing and recognition promoting increased productivity of employees, through the involvement of customers in the process of product development and strengthens their loyalty, considerable efficiency of the innovation process due to capitalization on good R/D project management practices and improved decision-making.   Keywords: Knowledge management; culture of sharing; intellectual capital; competitiveness.

According to the High Commission for Planning’s report, unemployment in Morocco is particularly high among young graduates. This study brings us back to the issue of integrating young graduates into the job market. Nowadays, companies are more focusing on human capital as the key to their success. As a result, recruiters are keen to hire the best people possible: they prefer to recruit graduates who possess high academic qualifications and technical skills, combined with non-academic competencies that they consider very important. The aim of this article is to show the relationship between soft skills and employability in the literature, and to verify its existence in the industrial sector. Using a qualitative study involving a number of HR professionals in the industrial sector, we were able to show that soft skills have an impact on the employability of young graduates. We also identified the key skills that help young people to succeed in the industrial sector, which is characterized by a demanding and unstable environment. The most demanded skills by professionals in this sector are: communication, collaboration, time and stress management, logical and critical thinking, creativity and flexibility; those skills are considered as the key for young graduates to successfully carry out their mission in such a sector. In the industrial sector, soft skills may not find their place, especially when it comes to rare technical positions. The study showed that soft skills in the industrial sector are increasingly valued by recruiters and can make a difference in the integration and professional success of candidates. Soft skills, such as communication, time and stress management, critical thinking, creativity, and flexibility, are particularly sought after in the industrial sector. They are considered essential for support functions but may not be as relevant for rare technical positions.

Corporate Income Tax (CIT) and Capital

    Get PDF
This research consists of verifying whether CIT has an effect on capital given the financing risk incurred. A review of several capital theories has shown that CIT is one of the main determinants of a firm's capital structure. The inclusion of CIT in capital structure models continues to divide the world of corporate finance. Debt interest deduction in computing CIT reinforces the controversy over the question of the capital structure that optimizes the tax savings provided by this deduction. The consequence is the existence of two opposing groups on the optimum capital structure: on the one hand, the group of those who believe that there is one and only one optimal capital structure, and on the other, the group of those who reject out of hand any possibility of an optimal capital structure. The sample starts with a case study of two hypothetical identical firms, one indebted and the other non-indebted, with the same profitable investment project over a period of time, and ends with 101 pairs of identical firms belonging to different classes of financing risk. The hypothesis of non-gratuity of cost and income is used, and capital markets are assumed to be pure and perfect. The results confirm that CIT has no effect on the structure, value, cost and return of capital for a given financing risk, and reveal the existence of a third source of financing called "public capital", whose cost is the corporate capital tax rate (CCTR). There is no longer any question of thinking about the optimum capital structure, which is a pure financial illusion. This paper is one of the first to show that CIT does not affect capital, and to propose a model that explains capital structure behavior in the presence of CIT.   Keywords: Capital structure; firm value; weighted average cost of capital (WACC); return on investment; financial integration of corporate tax.
