Setting up a Territorialized Food System (TFS) in Morocco: Comparative study of Territorialized Food Systems in France, Spain and Turkey

    No full text
Morocco offers several potentials for the development of territorialized food systems, on the one hand, the Moroccan diet, of the Mediterranean type, is based on quality and diversified local products, and on the other hand, the decentralization of public policies and the will to develop local products. The success of the initiatives depends largely on the mobilization of stakeholders from the sectors, consumers and citizens around this project.   Keywords: “Foods Systems, “Territorialized Food Systems”, “Local products”, “Food security” JEL Classification : M31, E22, F21, E22, M31, L83 Paper type: Empirical researchMorocco offers several potentials for the development of territorialized food systems, on the one hand, the Moroccan diet, of the Mediterranean type, is based on quality and diversified local products, and on the other hand, the decentralization of public policies and the will to develop local products.

    No full text
This study aims to explore the links between students' transversal skills, defined according to the OECD theoretical framework, and their entrepreneurial intention. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered to a sample of 224 students from various academic fields. The analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling (SEM) with AMOS and multiple regression. The results show that students' cognitive, socio-emotional, and practical skills are positively and significantly correlated with their desire to start their own business. Skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and initiative appear to be essential assets for future entrepreneurs. Furthermore, the analysis revealed that the balanced development of these different transversal skills is necessary to foster a strong entrepreneurial intention among students, regardless of their field of study. Some types of transversal skills, however, seem to be more decisive depending on the discipline, highlighting the importance of considering the disciplinary context. Digital skills were also identified as a crucial but relatively weak element among some students, indicating a need for enhancement. Although the self-reported nature of the data may be subject to bias, this study provides valuable practical implications by emphasizing the multidimensional concept of transversal skills, moving beyond the traditional focus on technical or managerial skills in entrepreneurship research.

    No full text
Motivation and engagement are crucial for academic success, as they drive and guide learners' behaviors towards achieving their goals. Motivation refers to the extent to which students are actively engaged and invest effort in their learning activities. Students who are motivated and engaged are more likely to adopt effective learning strategies, maintain a positive attitude towards academic challenges, and develop resilience in overcoming obstacles. They also foster a lifelong desire to learn. The integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education, when aligned with motivational theories, can significantly enhance the learning experience and optimize the learning pace. In this context, adaptive learning leverages advanced technologies to personalize educational experiences by modeling each learner’s goals, preferences, and knowledge. This allows for a better understanding of individual needs and enables educators and course designers to develop more precise and effective interventions. We propose a framework for academic motivation that incorporates Information and Communication Technologies, with a focus on success expectations and values. This framework highlights the importance of the environment and workspace in meeting individuals' fundamental psychological needs, providing choices and pathways that align with their interests, contextualizing skills meaningfully, and promoting active involvement at all levels. This article explores the impact of adaptive learning on student engagement and motivation, and addresses the challenges associated with integrating these emerging ICT trends.   Keywords: School motivation, Adaptive learning, School engagement, ICT. Classification JEL: I20. Paper type: Theoretical Research. The expansion of Moroccan banks in Africa: The choice of locations and commitment

    No full text
Moroccan banks have witnessed rapid growth since the early 2000s in the African continent, particularly in French speaking countries where they have established themselves as important institutions in the financial sector. The purpose of this paper is to study two elements. First, the criteria used, by Moroccan banks, in order to choose the first territories (Countries) of establishment in Africa. Second, the entry mode mobilized in each territory and the evolution of commitment. To respond the research questions, we adopted a case study design (Multi-case). Within this design, a three-step process was followed. First, we propose and operationalise an explanatory model. Second, we collect secondary data to conduct a longitudinal analysis over the study period. Third, we mobilize the multiple linear regression, the correlation coefficient and the discriminant factor analysis to test the hypotheses. Three conclusions emerge from our work. First, the cultural distance between Morocco and the host countries influences the choice of the first territories of establishment. Second, Moroccan banks follow each other during their expansion in Africa. Third, the experience gained in a new territory positively affects the evolution of commitment within that territory.   Keywords: Strategy; Internationalisation; Commitment; Bank; Africa.

    No full text
This study uses the RIMA-II framework (FAO, 2016) to analyze the determinants of resilience among smallholder farmers in the Souss Valley, focusing on four key pillars: access to basic services, agricultural and non-agricultural assets, social safety nets, and adaptive capacity. The methodological approach is based on two steps: principal component analysis (PCA) followed by Varimax rotation. PCA helped simplify the data and identify a coherent set of variables influencing resilience. The results reveal that the accessibility of public services has a strong impact on the first pillar, while land and agricultural resources are essential for the second pillar. Participation in community organizations is a key factor for the third pillar, and agricultural resources and practices play a major role in the fourth pillar. This analysis provides an in-depth understanding of the primary determinants of resilience for households in this historically agricultural region of Morocco.   Keywords: PCA, Resilience, RIMA II, Smallholder Farmers, Souss Valley. The organizational weakness of VSEs and their propensity to die prematurely, subject to their environment and constraints by their context, is no longer to be demonstrated. Today, we observe the emergence of a new type of VSE, in mutation, evolving in a gray zone and adapting to its context in a constant manner. The objective of this paper is to examine the managerial practices of these VSEs and to explore the institutional contingencies of the context of action, in order to understand the conditions of their viability by their internal factors. Our theoretical anchor is the theory of contingency. We mobilized a mixed methodology, quali-quanti, backed by the technique of comparative qualitative analysis QCA in its csQCA version, from 50 Gabonese VSEs from several sectors. The data are primary and come from the administration of a questionnaire to the owner-managers of these VSEs. The results indicate that whether or not the value of human resources is taken into account does not impact the viability or non-viability of a VSE. The viability of a VSE depends on two sufficient conditions: operational risk management and the existence of an accounting information system. As for the non-viability of a VSE, it depends on two sufficient conditions: non-compliance with regulations and the non-existence of an accounting information system. Thus, the accounting information system remains an essential or sine qua non condition for the viability of a VSE. From our results, we have identified interesting managerial contributions at the institutional level that will significantly impact the practices of owner-managers of VSEs for the viability of their structure.   Keywords: SME, Internal factors, Contingency theory, Viability, Determinants. In an increasingly interconnected world, the emergence of digital businesses is disrupting traditional business models. Leaders are left with no choice but to embrace digital transformation. In this rapidly changing world, organizations must respond and adapt, as failing to do so could result in their activity decreasing or even disappearing, while more agile players capitalize on the market and attract younger generations. Digital transformation is seen as a significant driver of performance. It influences how companies operate and inspires them through paradigm shifts driven by current events and new technologies. It impacts internal relationships and interactions within the organization, as well as its external relationships. Moreover, the information processing and analysis capabilities offered by digital transformation have opened up immense opportunities across various areas, allowing companies to reduce costs, establish new customer dialogues, and enhance organizational efficiency. The opportunities presented by digital transformation, the resources and skills it demands, and the challenges and concerns associated with undertaking such a project have prompted company leaders and researchers to view digital transformation as a focal point of interest. Within this context, this study aims to explore the effects of digital transformation on company performance and the expected objectives of a digital transformation project within a theoretical framework. This research work seeks to synthesize existing knowledge on digital transformation in companies and derive a comprehensive theoretical framework through a literature review. This framework aims to provide a conceptual understanding of the factors that drive digital transformation, the organizational changes required in the digital era, and the anticipated outcomes of digital transformation projects. Furthermore, the proposed framework emphasizes the need for ongoing monitoring of digital transformation initiatives and making necessary adjustments to achieve the ultimate and primary goal of improving company performance to ensure long-term sustainability.   Keywords: Digital transformation, performance, technology, companies JEL Classification: L25, M10, M20 Paper type: Theoretical ResearchIn an increasingly interconnected world, the emergence of digital businesses is disrupting traditional business models.

    No full text
Since the Second World War, according to the OECD, has the world experienced a global crisis as paralyzing and consequential as that caused by the Covid 19 pandemic. Against this backdrop of crises, organizations found themselves obliged to adapt its process to the context of the crisis. Among these organizational models is teleworking (as well as Home Office and Remote Work). However, teleworking proved to be nothing new to the Dutch organizational context. Dutch companies had already experimented with and adopted the digitalized model long before Spring 2020. Today, Dutch organizational culture is more than ever in the spotlight, and represents a textbook case for structures wishing to embark on an efficient, value-adding digital transformation. If the success of digitalization has been observed in the Dutch context, it is not exclusively dependent on technological progress, but also on a corporate culture that fosters trust, empathy and flexibility in the so-called matrix organizational model. This article aims to highlight the strengths of Dutch culture that have contributed, directly or indirectly, to the successful implementation of teleworking, while at the same time offering a comparative analysis of the Moroccan cultural context, where the introduction of teleworking is still is still debated. The literature that we exploited in this work is essentially conceptual, putting forward several theoretical concepts. Although the work exploited emanates from empirical work, our analysis focuses on the conceptual conclusions drawn from it. This analysis is essentially comparative on the basis of the national reference model (applied to the both countries concerned), although it is still at an embryonic stage, inspiring future work on the feasibility of lessons learned from the Netherlands in the Moroccan context. This paper examines the transformation of knowledge management (KM) in the public sector through a comparative analysis of practices and strategies adopted across various countries. Drawing on case studies from the United States, Canada, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Australia, the article highlights how digitization, technological innovation, and collaboration have enhanced administrative efficiency and the quality of public services. Each case study provides unique insights into how public administrations can leverage KM to address modern challenges by promoting knowledge sharing, transparency, and citizen engagement. Benchmarking reveals diverse approaches and promising outcomes, demonstrating that strategic knowledge management is a key driver for modernizing the public sector globally.   Keywords: Knowledge Management (KM) - Public Sector - Digitization - Technological InnovationAdministrative Efficiency - Knowledge Sharing - Citizen Engagement - Transparency - Strategic Knowledge Management.
