Playing Games to Earn Money: The Conceptual Framework of Interaction between Gender, Learning Styles, Problematic Gaming Behavior and Success-Economic Gain Motivation of Playing Games
Get PDFThis study identified the constructs of problematic gaming behavior that significantly impact the success-economic gain motivation of gamers. Furthermore, this study explored the role of gender, number of games played, and learning styles in problematic gaming behavior and the success-economic gain motivation of gamers using an online survey (N = 136). This study identified escape from adverse moods and preoccupation as the significant determinants of success-economic gain motivation of gamers. Escape from bad moods and preoccupation mediates the relationship between gamers\u27 gender, number of games played, and success-economic gain motivation. Regression analysis reveals that active-reflective and sequential-global learning styles moderate the relationship between escapism, preoccupation, and success-economic gain motivation of gamers. The results suggest that the combination of active-global learning style and reflective-sequential learning style has the highest impact on the success-economic gain motivation of gamers. The results led to two conceptual frameworks that show how gender, learning styles, problematic gaming behavior, and success-economic gain motivation all play a role in game play
Testing of the "Gizinesia" Website as an Educational Media for Diabetes Mellitus Patients
Get PDFIndonesia has diabetes alert status because it ranks 7th out of 10 countries with the highest number of diabetes patients. There are five main pillars in diabetes management: education, medical nutrition therapy, physical activity, pharmacology, and independent blood sugar monitoring. Education is the first pillar that can be done with the help of easily accessible and sustainable media, one of which is the website. One of the important steps in developing educational media is to validate the media by professionals and respondents of the target group. The objective of this study is to know the development and validation of "Gizinesia" as an educational medium for Diabetes Mellitus patients according to professionals and respondents with diabetes. This research is quantitative research with a methodology approach in three steps: development, validity, and evaluation with a sample of 11 professionals and 20 respondents with diabetes. Based on validity tests by professionals, the website content was declared valid with a CVR with a CVI value of ≥ 0.80. The website construct was valid with an average calculation of r≥ 0.632. However, out of 18 items found three invalid items. Based on the validity test by diabetic respondents, the website content was found to be valid with Mean I-CVI = 0.95. However, out of 15 items, 1 item was found to be invalid and the website construct was declared valid with an average r≥ 0.7. However, of the 16 items found two items with low correlation. Therefore, the results of the validation of the "Gizinesia" website as a nutrition education medium for Diabetes Mellitus patients are valid. However, they need improvement by making an illustrated video and following the "10/20/30 Rule"
Tourists’ Service Satisfaction of the Selected Amusement Parks in Subic Bay Freeport Zone
Get PDFThis descriptive-survey research determined the tourists’ service satisfaction of the selected amusement parks in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Olongapo City. A total of 90 respondents served as the participants of the study. The researchers assessed the levels of satisfaction of amusement parks guests based on their perceptions. Guests were asked on how they can describe their satisfaction levels based on entertainments offered by the parks, staffs, safety and security, and cleanliness of each park. Entertainment wise, Amusement Park C was perceived by its guests as the most entertaining parks among the selected the amusement parks in the Freeport. Its adventurous and thrilling activities and wide vast forest area makes it more entertaining. The staffs of the Amusement Park A were given the highest rating by its guests compared to other selected amusement parks in the Freeport. Their staffs were considered by most of its guests as accommodating, informative and are always ready to serve the guests with all their requests. Safety and security were highly prioritized by the Amusement Park B management and it was confirmed by its guests based on their perception. This research find out that Amusement Park B and all its parks inside its area were considered by its guests as safe and secured as compared to its competitors in the Freeport. Few machines and technical rides inside the Amusement Park B made it safer for its guests. It was able to fully maximize nature for tourism and entertainment purposes. The highest rating for cleanliness, one of the several important factors that affects the levels of satisfaction of the guests, was given by the respondents to Amusement Park B. This gave the said amusement park the highest overall rating. The study recommends to conduct benchmarking or comparative studies of Freeport amusement parks with other amusement parks in the country. This shall focus on enhancing the tourism industry in the Freeport by learning new ways to make its tourism industry a truly world class
Beyond the Camera: A Case Study on Students Doing Online Class and Tasks at Home
Get PDFTypical learning usually happens inside the classroom setting and having face-to-face interactions with their teachers. However, when the pandemic starts to spread, the Department of Education (DepEd) announces that education will continue through online learning. In this time of dilemma, some people are not competent enough to achieve homework and chores simultaneously. Their time management and dividing the time into a particular task is already time-consuming. This study intended to determine how senior high school students in Tondo High School handle their school tasks while in their home and also to diagnose the student\u27s ability to utilize and manage their time, discover their methods and strategies to deal with their different responsibilities, and spot what are the effects of this set-up to the students amidst the pandemic. The researchers gathered the results by conducting an online survey in a well-mannered way through Google Forms. The students involved in the study have voluntary participation. The participants described and their experiences in the new learning system and explained their difficulties and struggles in managing their school works and obligations at home. They also included the strategies they acquired to cope up with their situation. The results of the conducted study justified that many students are having a hard time dealing with the new learning system. Such poor implementation of the learning system also exhibits poor learning effectiveness to students. Handling the new learning system and managing the responsibilities and time for school affect family engagement and the personal health of the students
Magulang Bilang Guro: Parents’ Experiences as Co-Teaching Parents Dur-ing Modular Distance Learning
Get PDFThis study basically investigated the experiences of parents as facilitators of learning as Lagundi-CCL NHS implemented modular distance learning, S.Y. 2021-2022. Twenty (20) parents were considered as respondents in the study. They were chosen purposively by the researcher as she knows them personally. These parents were all the grade level. Utilizing the phenomenological method of inquiry, the parents were interviewed getting their narratives and recommendations as co-teaching parents. Based on the interview, the following themes were derived 1) Motivating their children to pursue education; 2) Mentoring their children in answering the modules; 3) Character building and setting goals in life while learning at home; and 4) Self-realization and reflections. Moreover, their recommendations included: a) to lessen the activities; b) conduct of online classes; and c) implementation of face-to-face classes

Get PDFThe study was conducted to determine utilization and knowledge of teachers and students on Computer Technology in Zone I, Division of Zambales during the School Year 2019-2020. The sample population of the study was be limited to the use of twenty (20) teachers and two hundred seventy-five (275) students from selected secondary schools of DepEd at Zone I, Division of Zambales. The researcher framed this study based on the descriptive research design in order to gather pertinent data with regards to the presentation of the demographic profile of respondents and in the evaluation and analysis of responses made by both teacher-and student-respondents to determine both the utilization and knowledge on Computer Technology in classrooms in terms of teaching and learning, as mandated by the DepEd K-12 academic program as to provide for quality education in modern society. It also indicated that the level of significant difference on the perceptions of the respondents on utilization and knowledge of both students and teachers on the application of computer technology in classroom instruction may vary when they are grouped based on profile variables and based on categories of availability of resources, teaching styles and student knowledge in the use of computers. Furthermore, this study finds that there is no significant difference on the perceptions of the student-respondents and teacher-respondents on the perceived utilization and knowledge on the application of computer technology as to availability of resources; to teachers teaching styles; and to knowledge of students on the use of technology

Exploring the Relationship Between Mathematics Performance and Learn-ing Style Among Grade 8 Students
Get PDFThis study explored the relationship between mathematics performance and learning styles among Grade 8 students in the Philippines. The study used a descriptive correlation research design to achieve its objectives, which included determining the profile of Grade 8 students, identifying their learning styles, and examining the relationship between mathematics performance and age, gender, and learning styles. The data was collected through an adapted questionnaire from David Kolb\u27s learning style inventory. The findings revealed no significant relationship between learning styles and academic performance in mathematics. However, it is worth noting that the lack of a significant relationship does not necessarily mean that there is no relationship at all. Motivation, teacher quality, and cultural background may also influence mathematics performance. The findings suggest that educators should consider students\u27 different learning styles when developing effective teaching strategies to enhance mathematics performance among Grade 8 students. This study contributes to the literature on mathematics education and has practical implications for educators seeking to enhance their students\u27 mathematics performance
Effectiveness of Microenterprise Law to Registered Microenterprises: Quantitative Assessment in The Philippines
